Dear friends, please let us educate ourselves small sometimes and stop taking things hook-line and sinker. Let me ask you, if you are a musician/artise, painter, publisher etc you create a work using your intellect, would you allow anyone to use it for free? how do get resources to do that work again for the good of society? that is the principle of Intellectual Property rights. It gives people who uses their mind to create works for the good of society a minimum period to exclusively exploit these works to at least get their investments. All the items you are enjoying from phones to cars to every single item today would not have been possible without this principle of intellectual property rights.
Now, on PBR Bill, what makes us think Breeders of plant varieties should not have right over what they intellectually create? Please, in the absence of new development of crops from the existing old aged plants, it is absolutely impossible to feed the increasing population. Please, go ask around farmers what they are facing in terms of climate change effect on their yields, pests, diseases, poor rains, high temperatures... It takes reasoning and creativity to solve these issues, and you think those who make these creations should not be given a fair chance to recoup their investments? ... to be continued..The Plant Breeders Bill in not the Law that allows companies to bring GMOs in Ghana. The Act that makes that provision, my dear brothers was passed in 2011, called Biosafety Act, 2011. PBR is just like copyright Act, Patent Act, that says Breeders who bring new crop varieties should be given some royalties to take care of their investments. It is just that.
Its unfortunate, these so-called NGOs who are opposing these things do not even read and seems not to know what they are talking about... I will later explain what GMOs are and put you at ease. thanks and I luv you all.

With Ebola and Co. being alleged to have been engineered for eradication of the black race, it would be highly possible that, these have been engineered to create problems over the long term, since no detailed data spanning more than 3 generations exists anywhere to show that GM crops are safe. Even in their own backyard, they have rejected it.
The issue is not about GM crops. Foodstuffs rot in our farms every single blessed day, because of lack of access roads, and that needs to be addressed instead of talking points about GM crops and abundant food production.

MPs beware of what you are selling Ghana for and to whom you are selling our future to. People like you greedy bastards are the reasons why we now have Ebola in Guinea, Nigeria, Liberia and Sierra Leone. We have leaders who will take anything foreign for the absolute truth even at the peril of their people; of which Mahama is no exception. Have you Mps examed the origins of Ebola in , never known or seen in our sub-region before? Anything foreign to some neo-colonalists in our midst, will take them half whole without questioning. Greed, non-appreciation of domestic input from our scientists are the reasons why we now have Ebola in West Africa. MPs be forewarned if you yield to this experiment of GMOs/Monsanto to be flushed on our farm lands. Why are you people not exhausting all arguable questions surrounding the GMOs before passing the bill on it? The genesis of Ebola is greed; and the strand is different from the one said to have been found in Congo where it was originally sub-planted by a Spanish or French scientist. Now a brief history of Ebola, courtesy of MedTV "Ebola History:
The history of Ebola began when the disease was first recognized in 1976. The name came from a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in Africa, where the virus was first recognized. There have been 18 confirmed outbreaks of the disease since 1976." MPs beware of this creeping corruption far bigger than the Limman and SMC I/II era that you people are foisting on Ghana. the stick that begets Baah will certainly beget Tatwiwah, this an urban saying in Ghana which is still true. Stop Monsanto, stop GMOs, say no to Ebola and sell out of Ghana. I hope Akuffo Addo will live by his word to not employ past corrupt Kufour ministers/officials in his government should Ghanaians give him the nod in 2016. Oman Ghana lets resist foreign invasion of our cultural values and food habits. NDc is no different from the corrupt NPP under Kufour. Ndc has institutionalized corruption in Ghana. They have no shame and no wonder their Mahama says Ghanaians have a short memory including he Mahama himself. Stop the GMOs, stop Ebola in Ghana. Think deep and hard before introducing GMOs into Ghana. The current Ebnola is man made and its no different from Daddam killing his own people from poison gas. The truth will come out some day. Poor Sierra Leone and Liberia kids have suffered the bract of their stupid leaders. Enough is enough for the sufferings in those former war torn countries. Lets mobilize the African Medical corp to save them. MPs think before you act. Ghana is the only country we have.

This bill should be defeated as suggested by this group, because it takes away our control over our own resources. Our survival as a nation depends on it and should not be allowed to pass, it encroaches on our sovereignty and the access and availability to our food products.
The government should let the nation know those who vote for it.
They should not sell their values, rather they should think about the Generations behind.

There is a place where you can be sure that you would find a representative (MP) from every part of Ghana year round gathered together to deliberate on the future and the current state of this country. Where is that? Parliament house of course. If there is such a place then how should the place and the people there be treated in the scheme of things? What priority should such a house be given in the governance of the country? If there is such a place then what kind of people should we send there and how should we assess their performance?
Parliament must also provide a readily available renovated residence in Sakumono to a newly elected parliamentarian. Accommodation in Accra/Tema is expensive and not every MP-elect may have the money to rent a house as he or she may have exhausted his or her funds running for office.

The Plant Breeders' Bills as well as the Economic Partnership Agreement with EU are all recipes for self-annihilation of Africa. They will usher in re-colonization and total dependency on the west for even necessities like natural foods and water. Once signed, the west would apply the threat of sanctions to ruthlessly pursue and enforce their hidden agendas.
