Listen to your President properly, Nigeria is not keen on exporting to Ghana. But, Ghana is keen on exporting textiles and co to Nigeria.
This prohibition list by Nigeria exist because most west African countries are dumping grounds for EU countries. Nigeria prohibits a lot of exports from EU which our west African neighbours allow.
Allowing these west african countries to export freely to Nigeria is allowing the EU countries to dump their goods through the back door into Nigeria, because Nigeria is really where most of these goods can be sold pretty fast due to the large economy.

This useless talk from Mahama will not change the Nigerians. When it comes to stubbornness in international trade Nigeria is number one. Remember they were able to nationalize British companies without any iota of stress. First Bank was Standard Charted Bank, Union Bank was Barclay's Bank and African Petroleum used to be British Petroleum. You see, there is a smart way to penetrate the Nigerian Market without stress like the French did in the mid 90s. If Ghanaians want to penetrate the Nigerian market they should contact me for free apoh instead of the useless rhetorics. When it comes to international trade, we should learn to use our heads rather than our stomachs to solve problems.

USMAN, you are right on the spot the Nigerians are stubbon to the bones but your orescriptions on how to peneyraye Nigerian market is not totally correct citing the examples of First Bank of Nigeria, Union Bank, African Petroleum which was formally British Petroleum; so on so forth. These companies you have mentioned do not have any foreign interest as at today, they are wholly Nigerian owned. The military administrations of Gen. Obasanjo acquired the Bank and its entire assets thereby relieving the British interest completely of any participations in the the three companies and many more. In Nigeria there can be no back door as you've boasted you have the panacea, Nigeria will do do all the deligencies to acsertain the charracters and background of equity holders of any companies intending to operate in Nigeria. Do you also know that no foreign company operates in Nigeria without Nigerians share holding involvements, unlike it operates in other African countries. Nigeria uses its populations to a competitive advantage and for the growth and benefit of its citizens, AIRTEL, SHELL, MOBIL, DSTv, MTN, CHEVRON etc. are by law required to have Nigerian participation in their operations by significant equity holding, and by law must have Nigerians in the top decisions making management level. So USMAN, there can be no backdoor passage into Nigerian business; you can do your research to convince yourself much better.

Mahama thinks Nigerians are fools like Ghanaians are, to open the frontiers of Nigeria to all sort of Chinese re-export goods into Nigeria. What products are produced in Ghana and other West African countries as to promote the competitions Mahama is talking about. Ecowas will do itself a lot of good if its citizen stops enlisting Chinese companies produce labeled products for local companies in the name local productions. Nigeria has realised no serious production is going on anywhere on the local front hense the total ban on goods of Chinese origin to be re-exported into Nigeria. The issues of ban is not about fear of competition but a deliberate policy to protect local industry from being over-run by re-exported Chinese goods which sofar has worked very well for Nigeria. Even the world bank 2014 reports recognises Nigerian industrial productions is booming on lots of goods which is good for businesses in Nigeria. There should be no comparism or fear of competition here because a Ghanaian population of 24 million people with about $45 billion dollar economy is nowhere near $500 billion dollars economy with a population of almost 200 million people.

Remember IbrahIm Mbo, the Sudanes said the high temperature of politics played in Ghana had put Ghana to a low level in everything, and that is some of the EXAMPLES of hate politics you saw on the ABN/JOY TV programmes

It is unfortunate Nigeria would never like to give access to goods coming from Ghana , a sister African nation. What a sad thing to hear in today's world of the need of eye open policy of unity.
When will this African primitive inferriority complex comes to an end? It is certain that the whiteman, the colonial master never wishes us the real success for he smartly is detrimental to the progress of Africa's growth, and will surely laugh at us seeing us struggle to trade with ourselves.
O Nigeria O Nigeria, why all this when African children expect their fathers to set good example in their politics, and there is none to copy well from you, the so called African leaders.
Please Nigeria listen to Mahama, he is a good man to deal with. Mahama stands for African unity so please Nigeria change and get onboard this zion train to our African destiny of taking off via togetherness.
How can we develop if we can not trade among us as Africans. Our continental trade is what can enable us to develop as Africans, since it can help us to copy one another for our good development.
Remember the Chines, and how they traded and copied well from others through competition. Yes, President Mahama is right so Nigeria must not fear competition from Ghana. Thank you Mahama for your leadership qualities in this regard.

Nigeria does not import any goods from USA. At least, not as we used to. We are building our industries and putting out incentives to encourage domestic production. Did you not hear that Nigeria declined to endorse the Economic Partnership Agreement between EU and ECOWAS? How else do you create jobs for your teaming population without restricting imported goods and services while encouraging local production through incentives, access to low-interest loans and market security?
The problem with our Ghanaian brothers is that they don't produce anything. The half-air-half-peanut and Alomo bitters you produce is recognized and widely accepted in Nigeria as a trademark of our African brothers. We do not want Nigeria to become a dumping ground for re-labeled Chinese goods, neither do we want to stifle our industrial and economic growth.
I think President Mahama should be more concerned about creating an economy that is less dependent on imported goods and then worry about the Nigerian market later. Probably when Ghana’s market is already saturated with local products and they need to expand their consumer base. You don’t expect Nigerian Government to sit back and relax while Ghanaians import goods from China through their duty free ports, re-label it as “Made in Ghana” and then export it to Nigeria under the auspice of “ECOWAS integration agenda”. No responsible Government does that and by the way, Nigerians love Ghanians. #Peace
