Ghana Stock Exchange has a major role to play in what the President is advocating. They should educate even small funding for operational expenditures and capital investments. The Ghana Stock Exchange should therefore create a Knowledge Management Unit to undertake capacity building for Ghanaian businesses. Most people including the individual business owner have no idea about what the Stock Market is all about. Let's educate, educate and educate.

Ghana Stock Exchange has a major role to play in what the President is advocating. They should educate even sole proprietors and small businesses about how to source funding for operational expenditures and capital investments through the stock market. The Ghana Stock Exchange should therefore create a Knowledge Management Unit to undertake capacity building for Ghanaian businesses if they do not already have one. More road shows in all the nations capital should help. Most people including the individual business owners have no idea about what the Stock Market is all about. Let's educate, educate and educate

H.E. the president has hit the nail on the head by pointing out this shortcomings by Africans especially Ghanaians, which is not only a mistake but also selfish, mismanagement and killing of the business they love to see it grow.A lot of small businesses opened eg, Afro shops, heir dressing shops etc opened in diaspora by Ghanaians are all managed by one man who had hitherto no business management experience. Most businesses springing fast in Aburokyiri, whether in the Americas or Europe have the bedrock of shareholders or mergers who have come to join together as a company had huge business management esperiences to fast track the company to a higher level. It is not too late, let us cultivate this idea to help our businesses grow to attrack even foreign investments in such private business operations.

Have you heard of Group Ndoum before? He is the sole owner of all his 16 businesses. What people have failed to realized is that Government have to support the so called sole proprietorship business to succeed. For there are a lot without the capital muscles like Group Ndoum to expand but have the correct structure in place. At least, the banking sector could partner these so called "one-man business" to succeed. We live in a country where foreign business like oil & mining companies which already have the capital to succeed giving tax holidays, and the indigenous business taxed to the bone. If this president was serious minded when making this comment, he would have realized that GBC, managed by the government have never cross boards of Ghana since it was started as one of the first African TV & Radio Station. President Mahama went to stand happily in front of CNN signage to take a picture. Does he know how far CNN, BBC, DSTV & Al Jazeera have cross boards and are now filling the world with propaganda? The serve the purpose f their countries and GBC should have done same if this government knew how to manage business as the President is saying. GBC as establish by Kwame Nkrumah should by now be the institute which should be doing the government bidding instead of President after President going around the world to beg for arms. Mind your own business, and if you have forgotten what your business is, it is to create policies and better business environment for local one man business to thrive.

Please don't get it wrong. The duty of the government is to establish a smooth and favorable business atmosphere for investors to enter the market. Most investors are individuals and institutions who are mostly keen to merge or acquire struggling local business and make them better, much more grow them to enter into the local market. The government cannot financial support every sole trader in Ghana re above. Let's merge business, let's enco partnerships, let's encourage the blue chip companies to takeover and bring some jobs to the youths. I fully concur to what the president is saying. We can't always sit, fold our arms and blame the government whilst our businesses are collapsing because we want to go solo.

I agree with President. However, what is he doing to limit the redtape, bureaucratic attitude that stems enterprise in ghana? Too much taxes for locals and less for foreigners...why?

If there is good management in place every business will flourish no matter the ownership. What we lack is honesty and management - same as what you lack in your govt

You need to work with the right people and sign conciliatory contracts. Kf people know they could be jailed for wrongdoing in business partnerships. People will be honest, don't you think?

It's difficult to expand to multiple partnerships or incorporate one's company, because business growth is slow in Ghana due to mistrust and fraud.
