By the time Simplice Zinsou sent him to Benin from where he went to Europe, he had already played for Black Stars. Desailly didn’t play in Ghana during his youth and he turned professional at a time when very few Ghanaians were pros. Leave the guy alone, he’s Ghanaian and our constitution allows him to have double nationality, so what’s your problem, you bloke.

The guy was taken to France when he was a kid, and was invited to play for the French National team after becoming a French man. There is nothing wrong with that, because he was thinking of his future. Now, coaching a national team is purely business and has nothing to do with nationality. After all, there a lot of Ghanaians who were born, bred and schooled here, but end up becoming other nationals. They eventually come and invest here, as Desailly had built his sports complex. Just look at the way we treated Asamoah of Germany, who opted to play for us, and had to go back to Germany. Despite that, he came and built a very big hotel here to create employment for us.

Desailly simply doesn't have the technical knowhow to coach Ghana. Just because he is black and of Ghanaian origin does not in any way prequalify him for the job. Normal protocol will have to be followed. He will have to submit an application like anyone else and all applicants will have to be equally screened. If there are candidates more qualified for the job than him and who are willing to accept the terms of the contract, he can't be given the job just because he is Desailly. Perhaps he needs to accept an assistant coach position for Ghana first to familiarize himself with the political landscape and also get a bit of coaching experience. Even that Assistant coach position itself will have to be fought for. Being coach of Ghana national team is not a position that requires on-the-job training, there's no time for that. So when Desailly starts making affirmative statements like "I will coach Ghana", it sounds like a joke to me. He's got absolutely no idea what he's dealing with. I have nothing against Desailly, but someone needs to advise him.

In fact, Desailly will be doing this stupid country a huge favor by even accepting the job, because unlike Appiah who thought it was a life-time civil-service job with at least $876,000 for every 2-year contract, Desailly knows that he has to work for his earnings, and, I swear, he is one who will not hang on in the face of failure, because he has dignity.

Go to Lizzy Sports and try to register for a football match and see how the place is all booked. We need more players to do that but unfortunately, out Ghanaian international prefers to sow money where it can not be harvested. Do you know hoe frustrating it is to play for Ghana? You have know idea so please allow the man. I think he should wait for the right time to apply, just not now. You are smart. Just keep that in mind.
