It was Algeria and Ghana that qualified for thE 1986 years World Cup. And stupid Hilla Liman said Ghana didn't have the finances to compete in the 1986 World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, so the third qualifier which was Cameroon replaced Ghana.
After the December 1981 military coup, Rawlings said Ghana was going to both the World Cup and the Cup of Nations.
FIFA came back to Ghana that it was too late for Ghana to be allowed to participate as Cameroon, for FIFA is too far in its preparations for the Cup.
CAF said Ghana could participate. So Ghana took the whole of the Kotoko team, George Alhassan, Anas Seidu and Abedi Pele to Libya and worn the Africa Cup for the last time. We had a very strong team.
Imaging if Ghana went to the 1982 World Cup? Those were the days of Kofi Badus,Asaase Js, Francis Kumis, Papa Arkohs, Addai Kyenkyenhenes, Opoku Afriyies, etc.
