When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

Good Old Ghana, Amanfuo!!, We used to be the World's leading producer of these beans (cocoa), courtesy of Tete Quarshie's trip to Fernando Po and long dead blacksmith of Akwapim land. So, what happened to us??
Because of "official corruption and gargantuan cheating of our farmers by our government”, the farmers WISED up and started smuggling their cocoa to neighboring Ivory Coast to sell for higher prices. Therefore, it’s not that the Ivory Coast is beating the ass of Ghana in real terms of cocoa production, but they're being helped with the HUGE smuggling of cocoa to overtake Ghana in the "export NOT production" of cocoa to the World market/S.
Our farmers deserve better. They've helped Ghana to be where we're today and our so-called “Cocoa Marketing Board (CMB) scholarship educated elites” should RESPECT the farmers t by paying them the true value of 64K (1 bag) of cocoa, as well as their bonuses—as the Ivory Coast does, even after a long civil war.
**ENOUGH OF THE CHEATING IS ENOUGH**

you are too quick to turn it into tribal affair. who in Ghana does not know the term "cocoa ase" They are the most hard working citizens and yet they are the poorest. This seem to be the trend, hard work does not pay in this country and crime is not punished enough that is why we are still at the bottom. The rich in Ghana are politicians and their business counterparts, people at the ports, people engaged in criminal activities like armed roggery, counterfeit, abortion etc. Among the poorest of the poor are cocoa farmers, teachers, fishermen, doctors, nurses, etc. This culture must be changed, the MP is making a very good point but you are finding a way to change it into tribal issue. We have many northerners, Fantis, Ayigwes, etc who are also cocoa farmers in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo area. It is important that we find ways to improve the standard of living in those areas and make farming attractive to the youth.

It's said to read that an MP is urging farmers to rise up against government instead of promising to advocate for them in Parliament. It appears the minority sees itself as not playing any role in government. Any parliamentarian should see himself or herself as an advocate for the poor, the voiceless, and the underprivileged whether in the majority or in the minority. It breaks my heart as a Ghanaian to see lawmakers inciting civil disobedience. Remember that the minority can become majority and they will be judged with the same yardstick.

A party out of power for two consecutive election cycles naturally resorts to hot empty rhetoric and goading of voters to sound relevant. This is exactly what the NPP is doing...what on earth does it accomplish by stoking the flames of anger and bitterness with its baiting and highly absurd statement that the government is cheating cocoa farmers, the fulcrum of Ghana's economy?
Cocoa farmers in Ghana know too well that there is stiff competition from neighboring Ivory Coast and other cocoa producing nations in West Africa. It is therefore necessary that they increase production of the crop by cutting down waste on their farms and stopping the pervasive smuggling into the same Ivory Coast that has surpassed them in the production and export of cocoa....
It is fruitless to blame the government for low cocoa prices even as demand in western europe and asia rises...instead, cocoa farmers should work with the government to find ways to solve some of the nagging problems plaguing their industry......

For far too long farmers have been dis respected, cheated, disregarded and even heard of a member of the ruling party insulting his political opponent as behaving like a bush cocoa farmer. What did he mean by that and why wasn't he fired?
Most of these so called leaders of this country tend to forget that the CMB scholarship which helped them through their education was the result of the toil of these cocoa farmers they disrespect.
Before Ghana can make any serious impact or progress,we must reward or teat the long suffering farmers right and not somebody in Accra raining insults on our bread winners describing them as "kokoase kurasefou"

They are so narrow minded that they will always dwell on shallow empty propaganda than to think of constructive alternative that will prove their ability as thinkers than “political hip pops” challenging and making empty utterances when silence would have earn them some respect.
It is very unfortunate to have calibre of people who displays nothing than greediness gluttony and cranking attitude towards each other. Even within their party they find it difficult to unite, how would they be able to unite the whole nation? NPP is a truly a joke they have nothing to offer. By their deeds you shall know them.
Ghanaians should not be blinded by these tax looters who only seek their interest by lobbying through their agents who are scattered throughout the country. Their sole interest is to make every regime ungovernable by castigating lies, ugly insults, throwing bombs, killing women, burning markets, lengthy shallow litigations in courts and false alarm blowers. What can they boast of themselves and what have they achieved for Ghana?
They want Ghanaians to be sub-servants to them whilst in their own thinking and mental deliberations; they perpetually remain slaves to neo colonialism.

As much as I appreciate the efforts of the Minority Leader to show empathy for the Farmers, I strongly do not believe his approach helps his cause as a Minority Leader.
If he noted this huge gap between the payments why wait for all this long to say anything about it? So, for three years the Minority Leader could not have access to the necessary information to take the matter up in Parliament for redress?
Now, all of a sudden, as the Elections are drawing close, he is using the revelation as a campaign tool to win the Farmers over.
He would have done his Party more good by asking the Parliament to summons the Executive on that allegation. Right now, it could easily be misconstrued as purely an Electioneering pitch.
Meanwhile, the farmers are suffering in poverty. What would the Government also do that, if the allegation were true? The Nation must not be propped up on the back of only the poor Cocoa Farmers. If the allegation is true, the Government must refund all the arrears due the Farmers immediately.
It is sad that the NDC would cause our Elections be all about Cocoa, again, 50 plus years after the UP raised similar issue against the CPP.
Long Live Ghana!!!

FOB as you correctly said means free on board. It means the European and Japanese buyers of our cocoa DOES NOT pay for its shipment or transportation and its insurance. It is the Government and cocoa board which pays for it. It does so by using some of the 479 after deducting administrative cost and the farmers cut. What Kyei Mensah Bonsu has just done is to ignorantly misrepresent FOB and use it for his propaganda politics. A man of a stature of minority leader should not be doing that. Its too ignoble
