This one of the best news I've heard so far with regard to power generation.
Most of my comments on here had always suggested two types of power generating systems and wind turbines were always on top of my list. Now it looks like that might happen.
The second one was about using garbage as secondary fuel to fire steam boilers to generate HP(high pressure) steam to generate power using steam turbine-driven generators. Below is a recent comment of mine for the benefit of those who missed it:

Comment to: Go for solar energy – GTUC president
"It always amazes me that our so-called experts and leaders are so myopic in their thinking and foresight.
We have a long stretch of coastal landscape where the abundance of wind power can be harnessed to generate power by means of wind turbines yet I haven't read or seen it anywhere to suggest that the our leaders and "experts" are interested to at least invest in feasibility studies to ascertain how viable this venture will be.
All you hear about are the environmentally unfriendly coal-fired plants and the expensive solar energy because these proponents have personal vested interests in them. All that they are interested is their kickbacks and commissions and nothing else.
Garbage, which we have in abundance but have no clue how to recycle to control the cholera outbreaks in our cities can also be used as secondary fuel to fire boilers to generate steam which in turn can be used to drive steam turbine-driven power generators.
We ,therefore, can kill "three birds with one stone" by getting rid of our garbage recycling issues, preventing cholera outbreaks and adding more needed power to our grid at the same time.
About 6 or 8 of these plants strategically placed around the country will be a boon industrially and give us a good grip to handle the cholera issue plaguing our big cities and towns.
Just saying..... those who have ears, let them hear."
So now let's see if the powers that be will also by into the idea of my second suggestion of using garbage as secondary fuel for power generation.

The waste heat boiler high pressure steam/power generation plant is one of the different power plants I've worked at. Due to its high maintenance cost and environmental challenges and suits, many power companies are shying away from it. However, in the case of Ghana, this plant could be sited at a very remote area close to the refuse dump site miles away from the populace to control the stench that emits from the flue gas to the surrounding atmosphere. The EPA needs to religiously monitor the emission of gas and appropriately advise the authorities. You're right. We could kill many birds with the installation of incineration plant. But knowing Ghanaians with their laxity when it comes to maintenance, health and the environment, I doubt if going this route will help our nation. On the other hand, I prefer natural gas to fuel oil as the alternate fossil fuel due to cost to procure and shut down times for maintenance. That's the reason why we need to get our gas pipe lines going at all cost and as soon as possible. Eventually, it's going to save us tons of money to tackle water, health and sanitation, education and roads to name a few of the many infrastructures that we are lacking in our country. Long live Ghana.

The most poignant of your argument is Ghanaians and their laxity in the maintenance of equipment. That will be my worst fear, as a matter of fact but hopefully, they will hire people like you and I who have had a ton of experience with such plants.
Having said that, I know how frustrating it will to be put in charge of such a plant only to have your decisions second guessed by political appointees attached to the plant who have no idea how to run/ manage the plant but will always make decision without them consulting you first.
