JD MAHAMA thinks he is a "leader" by virtue of the fact that he is occupying the seat of the presidency by corrupt means and as such he should by default respect him. JD MAHAMA very corrupt, incompetent and without vision for Ghana and his follows thinks leadership automatically confers respect. Can JD Mahama tell Ghanaians the source of all these scandals - Cholera, GYEEDA, SADA, SUBAH, 2014 World Cup Fiasco and Afriyie-Ankra and Yamin, the impending EBOLA and his promise that the country is well prepared for potential EBOLA outbreak? and many more scandals? The sight of this corrupt and incompetent personality imposed on Ghanaians as a president anytime makes me feel like throwing up!!! A corrupt individual imposed on Ghanaians as a president. Shame on you JD MAHAMA.

I was part of a US volunteer medical team that treated patients in Ghana at Korle-Bu teaching hospital. What I witnessed there made me sick to my stomach. Basic infection control is virtually non-existent at Korle-Bu. I saw doctors violate basic standard precaution guidelines. Many of them cross contaminated patients, co-workers and workspace without a thought. While a saw a handful of doctors and nurses wash their hands and disinfect properly, the vast majority had very poor hygiene habits. It soon dawned on me that these poor habits had been honed for years, and the violators were not even aware of the harm they were doing. I did not see a single roll of paper towel at any of the handwashing sinks at Korle-Bu. Instead, there is a dirty towel for everyone to use. Any infection control instructor will tell you of the essential need for paper towel in effective handwashing. If something so basic cannot be achieved at Korle-Bu - the crown jewel of Ghana's teaching hospitals - and if cholera cannot be controlled and contained, how can Ghana prepare for Ebola?

I'm sorry they did run away because we doctors and other healthcare workers do not work in a vacuum.
WE NEED TOOLS TO ISOLATE AND CARE FOR SUCH DEADLY HEMORRHAGIC CASES.
Unfortunately the tools are not here or there.
For example, how can we set up isolation spots at Tema General Hospital and other wrong places when the likely points of entry into the country are left open?
Please answer the following questions truthfully:
1. How many of the isolation centers for Ebola have been completed and equipped?
2. Do we have special transport just in case to isolate and transport cases those so called Ebola centers?
3.How many of the 10,000 PPE promised have arrived in the country or have been disbursed?
4. Have we set up areas at the so called isolation centers to disposed off or burry the unfortunate ones or are we going to transport the dead to separate location for burial?
If you cannot answer any of these questions then please STOP blaming doctors because we are not equipped to handle Ebola yet.
Rather blame your politicians both NDC and NPP.
Sorry I'm not a prophet of doom but it is only a matter of time when Ebola will hit Ghana.
For if it is happening to our brothers and sisters in neighboring west African countries then it can happen here at home.
However, the big question is are we prepared?
If we can not manage Vibro Cholera by simply cleaning our filth how can we manage deadly viral hemorrhagic like Ebola? Only God knows!
Note: Ghana has huge wealth but 1% of the population (politicians) have hijacked 99% of the wealth while 99% of the population live on 1% of our wealth.
May be another coup is warranted to clean up these cycles of corruption mess we found ourselves in with both NDC and NPP.
Thank you.

You dodged the issue. You do not need a PPE in the form of an infection control suit to practice basic infection control. Standard Precautions are just that -STANDARD- and not complicated. The question you should be asking is - "how can we as Ghanaian doctors effectively manage infectious diseases when we cannot even follow simple standard precautions" Even if you had the most sophisticated medical equipment, your current infection control practices would render them ineffective. Look in the mirror and do first things first. Clean your house while you wait for your much cherished PPEs, so you can take maximum advantage of them when they arrive. SMH

Uncle Nii!You have also raised a very important point however, let me also remind you that, Ebola isn't any ordinary infectious disease. With all the precautions taken by some of the western health care practitioners who got and are still being infected in the affected countries do not know how they got infected. They took all the precautions that they knew but still got infected. I will dare say there is a lot we still do not know about this disease and therefore have with certain aspects of your argument.
If it is cholera and some few other infectious diseases, I do get that but here, the Doc and the topic is about Ebola.
Irrespective of the argument at stake, your observation is right on the money. Both concerns are of value and therefore should be implemented in tandem.

This running away of health workers in an Ebola situation is in sharp contrast to what happened in Nigeria. The more health workers run away from an Ebola case, the more it will spread because it gives the Ebola patient or those who brought him there the right to leave that hospital and go wherever they choose, in a bid to get a cure and in so doing, they get into contact with more unsuspecting people, thereby spreading the disease and the contact history of this patient is lost.

Between Nigerians and Ghanaians which of the two is ungrayeful, looking back at history of how Ghanaians were recieved and accomodated when they had to run away from the hunger of the early 80s and late 90s. Even today, Nigerian companies are providing employments to Ghanaians in the areas of Banking, Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Air Transportations, Commerce, Insurances ect. What has any Ghanaian company been able to do even in a nearby Togo, to say the least extenting the same gesture to Nigeria. All Ghanaians do is to wake up and insult everybody at sight everyday of their lives, which is why Ghana is still a begger country well after 58 years of independence. Ghanaians are rather the most envious and ungrateful human beings ever I've seen in the whole workd.

Mr. Lukeman seems to lack knowledge in history or perhaps too young to know what Ghanaians went through whilst in Nigeria during those hunger days he mentioned. In this view I will like to render a little education for Mr. Lukeman to start with: Nigerians flooded Ghana in the fifties and stayed on till early seventies when they were asked to go if they were unwilling to secure residency particulars to live in Ghana. whether they understood the implications of the order by the government or not, most of them stayed on without the pappers till finally driven out. Yes the Nigerians did so well in Ghana but they also broke almost every rule in the country. As a child growing up with them (Nigerians)I never knew the difference. they were my friends, school mates, church members and etc and were treated as such by all. they held propperties if they can afford and even held position of power in Ghana, so they enjoyed as much as any Ghanaian did in those days.
on the other hand, Ghanaians were looked down upon, treated and threaten with contempt. Ghanaians filled the positions that Ngerians lack in many fields and these helped Nigeria on developmental level during the oil boom. However, when Nigeria saw Ghana in dire state of emmergency they ordered Ghanaians out with immediate effect. While Ghanaians wept for loosing friends and colleagues when Nigerians were leaving Ghana, Nigerias on the contrally robbed, looth and beat Ghanaian and finally sealed the borders to create more hardships in those stressful times. Eventually Ghanaians got home (not fogetting those lost lives in the country and on transit) with cuts and bruises, sick and nothing to show for the hard work in Nigeria. Now the table has turned on Nigerians, they have trooped back into Ghana (in numbers). in the name of ECOWAS. Living in Ghana as if they were in their own country, they are shamelessly arrogant and very ignorant to say that they have all to offer Ghana! Mr. Lukeman think again, its rather the other way round. So if any of the two countries were to be a "begger country" your country Nigeria will certainly be it. You are cordially accepted and accommodated in a safe country that Nigeria can never be, so be quiet and let your people enjoy the safety net they have in Ghana.

Nigerians who live by the day to see the new city taking shape on a 50,000 sq kilometre sea front and who are also reading your piece of ignorance will laugh and mock Ghanaians for their continued envy of Nigerian developments. And for your information if you care to know that on the African continent; only four countries of South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria as a country has bigger economies and richer than Lagos State where the new Atlantic city is being developed. Every Ghanaians are geneologically born envious people and that's why no Ghanaian makes any meaningful impact in the world's rich lists.

There are reasons why Nigerian businesses are trooping to Ghana to do business. Corruption is rampant, Cost of doing business is very high, Ghana abounds in human resources necessary for growing businesses and Ghana is better developed systemically than Nigeria.
Also, Boko Haram terrorism is engulfing your beloved country and the country is highly unstable. It is fair to state that Nigeria is gradually descending into a failed state and this has been predicted by the CIA several years ago.
The aforementioned are few reasons why Nigerian businesses are expanding their businesses by being present in Ghana.
I have already pointed to you the HDI. According to the World bank, GDP per capita (current US$) between 2009-2013 for Ghana was $1,850. Unfortunately, Nigeria was stuck at $413. Need I say more? Do you realize that Ghana is ahead of Nigeria in the most important categories of development and average health of economy.
These are ample reasons to back off your anecdotal comparison between Ghana and Nigeria on development.
Nigeria receives more US aid than Ghana. While it is true that Ghana receives aid and grants, the situation is symptomatic of Africa in general and of which your beloved country is included. I make no excuses for that and I wish the situation changes. In spite of that, Ghana is better managed than Nigeria where the inequality is staggeringly frightening.
Nigeria could potentially be a rich country but due to the incompetence, corruption and mismanagement of public resources, the country is stuck in a perpetual state of decline, degradation, decay and decadence. The only bright spot for Nigeria is Agriculture where the honorable hardworking minister has been doing a tremendous job and I wish Ghana had someone like that to lead our Agriculture.
Lastly, more Nigerians seek refuge in Ghana than vice versa. That tells me that Ghana has better potentials than Nigeria on the refugee front.

Its no longer neccessary to continue discussing anything with you based on your shallow knowledge about current events about Nigeria in particular. Your brain is totally skewed in flaunting UN Human Development Index when an average Ghanaian is impoverished and living under very poor conditions that cut accros the lenght and breath of the country. Ghana was just listed as one of the the 15 dirtiest country in Africa and second dirtiest country in West African sub-region. Check that fact out by travelling your major cities of Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast etc. where Ghanaians are inundated with the spread of cholera which number keeps growing by the day. Your clueless government lacks the resources to deal with common cholera in the 21st century.? and you say an average Ghanaian is four times richer than a Nigerian,? Do you yourself believe what you are saying or just got drunk by UN Human Index statistics.?
Look here, India is one of fastest and highly developing country in the world with a GDP in excess of 2 trillion dollar, yet has the world's largest population of almost 900 million poorest of the world poorest population. Indian investments in Ghana today ranks only second to the British and just ahead of Nigerian investments in the third place in Ghana. With your "UN" statistics, is your country any better than these two countries of India and Nigeria who have both the muscle to invest and improve standard of living in Ghana by the number of Ghanaians getting employed by these companies. Better wean yourself of intellectual dishonesty and accept statistics are just for the purpose collating data for western countries to continue to determine how the likes of Ghana should live their lives.
When EPA agreement was thrown at Ghana and its cohorts believers of statistics, you did not have options but to accept it because you were confronted with their manipulated UN statistics, only Nigeria rejected the proposal in the whole 16 sub-regional ECOWAS economic block. It tells you that Nigeria is by far more independent minded than the rest of you in the ECOWAS economic sus-region, and also has the needed muscle to flex which the likes of statistics happy Ghana doesn't have.

On the other hand ask any idiot in any government office including parliament and they are likely to tell us about the wonders of ECOWAS even if any realized benefit pales in comparison with the loss of national sovereignty.

Thank you.

*FRONT PAGE ARTICLE EXPOSES THE FACTS ABOUT THE EBOLA OUTBREAK IGNORED BY WESTERN MAINSTREAM MEDIA
*LIBERIAN SCIENTIST CALLS FOR LEGAL ACTION OVER THE ORCHESTRATED EBOLA OUTBREAK
*EXPOSURE COMES AS US AND UN SCALE UP THEIR EBOLA EFFORTS IN LIBERIA
The largest newspaper in Monrovia, Liberia, has published a report arguing that the United States Department of Defense and Western pharmaceutical companies are responsible for bioengineering the Ebola virus (the US government owns the patent on the Ebola virus) and for injecting Africans with it through vaccinations.
Titled “Ebola, AIDS Manufactured By Western Pharmaceuticals, US DoD? the article by Dr. Cyril Broderick, a former professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Liberia’s College of Agriculture and Forestry, appeared on the front page of the newspaper, ensuring a wide readership as the US government and UN prepare to scale up their Ebola activities in Liberia.
The article could play a key role in shaping the future of Ebola-hit Liberia by exposing the role of the US Department of Defense, pharmaceutical companies and other entities in the current Ebola outbreak.
Broderick makes a strong case for legal action to obtain redress and damages.
Although dismissed by controlled US media such as Breitbart as an wildly accusatory conspiracy theory, the report by Broderick contains convincing evidence suppressed by the mainstream media that the Ebola virus is a bio@weapon, which has been put in circulation.
Broderick’s claims are all the more credible given a raft of recent scandals, which have battered the reputation of the US government and pharmaceutical companies, including new revelations of a cover up by the CDC the link between vaccines and autism and the infamous Tuskegee syphilis experiment .

Just weeks ago, one of the top ranking officers in the Ghana Medical service was boasting about how Ghana had facilities well-equipped to handle the ebola crisis. One can only laugh. How does a country that can't handle simple things as providing simple medical care for its citizens be in any position to seriously handle the ebola outbreak? Ghana does not even know how to tackle its bad roads, let alone know how to tackle ebola. The nurses can't be blamed for running away, for the government will be in no position to assure their safety.
