The Takoradi Poly Students who were sacked for applying with fake certificates must be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction. Just sacking them is not enough.
Nowadays businesses and government organisations have stopped demanding Secondary School Certificate or Basic Education Certificate.
Each of these certificates are important. For example for many tertiary graduates the only certificate that can tell whether one can speak good English or whether one has adequate knowledge of Mathematics is the Secondary School Certificate.
Similarly the only certificate that can tell whether a tertiary graduate has basic knowledge of Ghanaian history, culture, agriculture and the basic geography of West Africa is the Basic Education Certificate.

This is what I don't understand from this government. Now after that dismal performance by most students in the GCE exams the government is using those pupil teachers as scapegoats right? Why won't the government absorb those teachers into a program that will help them upgrade their teaching skills?
The bottomline is, those teachers will be saved from being unemployed and will be deployed again should there be shortage of teachers which has happened in the country often.Who are those behind such decision making?

There is no justification for armed robbery whatsoever. After all, there are so many decent vocations anybody can be engaged in either than armed robbery.
As Ghanaians we must disabuse our minds from negative destructive tendencies and think positively to the betterment of mother Ghana. We must be finding answers to the question; If no more pupil teaching, what next? Definitely the answer is NOT armed robbery!!!

Upon all these professional teachers coming out from these teacher training colleges still, we have deficit of them. Why dont GES train these pupil teachers to support them in their activity rather than sacking them. GES has hammered in another long nail into the coffin of quality and accessible education in Ghana. For centuries, Ghana has relied on Pupil teachers to teach in schools in the numerous deprived areas. The qualified and professional teachers refuse to accept postings to such remotes areas. So it has always been the Pupil teachers who have held the fort in those areas. Now they are being kicked out! The poor children in deprived areas are doomed for life - no education for them again. We're taking these decisions in the 21st century! Oh God, help Ghana!

In fact am very sad to read this from the people we put in office to manage the affairs of the nation. I wonder whether the policy makers read in between tin line before coming out with their policies. A reliable information indicates that, the teacher gap in Sissala West District a lone has of about 400 excluding the non professional and volunteers teachers the government is sacking. Oooh mother Ghana where are we heading to. My humble suggestion is that, the untrained teachers who have their names on government pay roll should be given the necessary training to fill the gap or the implication of this policy will have a multiple effects on the economy, such as unemployment, bribery and corruption, armed robberies, social vices among others. so government should think before the implementing this policy.

'A STUPID DECISION' YOU SAID? WOW! TELL US THE WISE DECISION TO HAVE BEEN TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT. YOU DON'T THINK BEFORE YOU TALK. YOU ONLY REGURGITATE FUSS SIMPLY BECAUSE OTHERS ARE FUMING. WISE ONE, PLEASE COME AGAIN. LET'S FACE THE FACT, GES HAS DIFFERENT GROUPS OF PUPIL TEACHERS WHO HAVE VARIOUS DURATION OF CONTRACTS SIGNED WITH THEM. A CONTRACT IS A CONTRACT. IF IT ENDS, EITHER YOU RENEW IT OR LEAVE IT DEPENDS ON THE CONTRACT AWARDEE. THIS IS A CASE WHERE THESE PEOPLE SIGNED A ONE YEAR CONTRACT WITH THE GES AND THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACT HAD ELAPSED. DO YOU STILL WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO BE PAYING THEM WITHOUT RENEWING THEIR CONTRACTS? HERE, TOO, THE GES SAID THEY ALREADY HAVE TRAINED ONES WAITING TO BE SLOTTED IN THE IN THE VACUUM THAT WOULD BE CRETED SHOULD THOSE WHOSE CONTRACTS HAVE ENDED LEAVE. LET ME ASK YOU THE WISE ONE A SIMPLE QUESTION: IF IT WAS YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS, WOULD YOU HAVE ALLOWED THEM TO STAY ON AND WORK EVEN WHEN LEGALLY YOU KNOW THEIR CONTRACTS HAVE ENDED? DO YOU KNOW ITS IMPLICATIONS? SO LONG AS THAT PERSON REMAINS AT YOUR WORK PLACE, HE IS CONSIDERED YOUR STAFF AND YOU HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING LEGALLY TO PROTECT HIM IN ANY WAY DEEM NECESSARY. THIS IS ALSO THE CASE THE CONTRACT YOU SIGNED WITH HIM IS A LEGAL DOCUMENT WHICH HAS EXPIRED. SO HOW CAN YOU DEFEND YOURSELF SHOULD ANYTHING HAPPENS WHICH DEMANDS DOCUMENTATIONS AND LEGALITIES? PLEASE COME BACK WITH MORE REASONABLE COMMENTS. STAY BLESSED AND STOP FOLLOWING CROWDS.
