This stupid president never ceases to amaze me, the gas is not here yet, we don't even have the supply chain yet to meet local demand and he is already thinking of exporting it, to whom, I want to know?
Are president of Ghana or you are looking out for other West African countries who do not care a squat about Ghana? This president must have priorities right or else.
Rural Ghana remains very poor in every measure and that is where 70% of our people live.Instead of concentrating on that, you are already thinking about outsiders, what kind of fool do we have for president. I can't believe this, Mahama's whole impulse to anything is an opportunity to steal and swim in corruption. Fool realize our rural development agenda comes before that of Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali.

The project came about because previous governments as far back as Acheapong may be even before Acheapong put in place strategies to discover oil reserves. After major discoveries were made during k4s reign the next step which was already in the pipeline was dubiously started by mills with the appointment of that bribe taker wanker as CEO. Under mahama's reign the project was severely delayed. In spite of all these short comings, the momentum from the previous work done by the great leaders of the past carried the project forward. It wasn't mahama's idea. He was just lucky that it is being completed under his reign. Let's see what he is going to do with it when it's completed. Just look at bui dam and you will know exactly what I am talking about. That was a game changer but from what I hear it is currently not working.

President Mahama should ask himself if oil has been a game changer for Ghana? If not, how does he expect national gas to be a game changer, though that is 100% Ghana controlled?
Yes, the gas will reduce Ghana's dependency on oil to produce electricity but that would not be a game changer. In any case, this project should have been completed at least, two years ago if Ghana is a serous country. It has taken the NDC government six years to build one natural gas processing facility when it took Tullow Oil under three years to produce oil after finding oil in commercial quantities. That is a government or a nation without priorities.

Kofi, it has of course taken the NDC government six years to build one natural gas processing facility as compared to that of Tullow Oil and its partners half of that time to develop and produce oil for the good old Ghana. One thing you are forgetting here is that, the oil majors have a cash portfolio upfront whilst Mills/Mahama administration were dangerously cash strap and have to go borrow from the Chinese to kick start this project and bring it on stream. Now, having any more complains to voice?

You are absolutely spot on. Availability of cash was a big factor in this project completion. I think Kofi is also wrong on his assessment that oil did not change anything in Ghana. By the way, where is this gas coming from? The reason why the oil find hasn't hit people's pocket as at now is due solely to fact that 90% or so of the proceeds are going back to the foreign investors. As 100% of this gas proceeds come to Ghana why shouldn't it make a difference? We have to learn how to give credit when credit is due and criticize when there are legitimate reasons. Blanket criticism makes us look bad.

Look Mister, Alhaji Blanket, has been smiling all throughout last week and still smiling with an oil giant Eni S.p.A of Italy by his side. Just last week the Energy and Petroleum Minister, Emanuel Armah-Kofi Buah was curiously jumpy all over the place in Singapore's Jurong Shipyard during his inspection work on the yet-to-be-named FPSO Mills, for the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme field also known as the (TEN) oil field and the second to our Jubilee field. After that, he posted a video and in that video mentioned a field called Sankofa, which I know Eni discovered some two years back.
Now, it is becoming clear that the field's gas deposit is more than they have anticipated hence the smiles all around and still no words shared. As if that was not enough arrived the news yesterday yet again that the Russian oil giant OAO Lukoil who is also busy offshore Ghana has hit a giant field of crude and are tight lips as well. So, if the president is coming out to say the Atuabo gas will be a “game changer,” then Alhaji Blanket confidently and surely knows damned well what is under his feet right this moment in this chapter of our history as a country.

DusTY-FooT-pHiloSophER, the long delay was not only because Ghana had to go begging for cash. One of the major reasons was that those in-charge fought among themselves in terms of selecting the preferred provider. There were three camps each making a case for China, India and Trinidad & Tabago. In the end they went for China who probably agreed to offer the highest bribe but in the end has delayed the project because they are reluctant to release funds from the $3 billion loan. The government should have chosen Trinidad who have one of the most developed gas industry in the world but they were not prepared to pay bribe so they were turned down. Trinidad would have completed the project by now.
By the way, who gave you this complex name and what does it mean?

The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Mrs. Kamla Persad Bissessar, has stated that her country is more than willing to partner the government of Ghana to improve the country’s energy situation, particularly, in the area of oil and gas.
She said they would be happy to partner the government of Ghana in sharing their wealth of knowledge acquired in the energy sector, especially, the vast experience gained in the production and supply of gas. Such a partnership, she said, could be based on mutual agreement in the supreme interest of the two countries. According to her, the government of Trinidad, recognising the mutual benefit the two countries stand to gain, had expressed a desire to work closely with the government of Ghana to provide quality service in the gas sector, and had accordingly presented a proposal to that effect, hoping it would receive attention for approval. She made this known on Wednesday at the media launch of the United Nations International Year for People of African Descent, at the Hilton Hotel, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, which was addressed by the Paramount Chief of the Lower Axim Traditional area and President of
Western Regional House of Chiefs, Awulae Attiburkusu (III).
Should there be any mutual agreement reached by the two countries, she said, the deal could guarantee the parties the unique opportunity to position Ghana’s gas reserves from the Jubilee Field, which was currently being operated by the Jubilee Partners, which ultimately, could inure to the benefit of all Ghanaians. According to the Prime Minister, if approved by the Government of Ghana, the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago would become a major partner in the production of natural gas from the Jubilee Field for the generation of electricity. The Caribbean nation depends 100 percent on natural gas for its entire energy needs of some 1,500 megawatts, which she believes, had made her country a power player in the management of the gas resource from the oil and gas industry.
The agreement, she said, could guarantee the parties the unique opportunity to position Ghana’s gas production from the Jubilee field to the benefit of all Ghanaians. Mrs. Bissessar said, “My government has approved, in principle, a very strong cooperation between our two countries on the exploitation of Ghana’s natural gas. We have the expertise and knowledge, and Ghana has acknowledged that. We hope that Ghana will approve our proposal.” She described the relationship being developed by the two countries as very much in tune with her vision of building greater South-South cooperation.
Ghana and Trinidad, being among the members of Commonwealth, which includes several other African countries, she underscored, could be used as a platform to help sustain the mutual interest and development of Africa and Caribbean nations. Trinidad & Tobago, which discovered oil 100 years ago, is the world’s leading producer of ammonia, urea, and methanol, all coming from natural gas.
Much of Ghana’s Petroleum Revenue Management Bill and the Local Content Policy were modeled on Trinidad, based on their rich experience. Answering questions from the media on Ghana’s oil and gas business, she said it would be the first time that her country has had the opportunity to go out of the island to share her experience and expertise for the benefit of another producer country. Consequently, she expressed the utmost hope that the partnership would be of immense mutual benefit to the two nations. Trinidad and Tobago is famous for its strong local content in oil and gas, and many believe Ghana could emulate that.A 21-member delegation from Ghana, led by Ghana’s Deputy Energy Minister, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, which was in the country to assess opportunities in the energy sector after the media lunch of the United Nations International Year for People of African Descent, took advantage to visit the $3 billion Point Lisas Industrial Estate, which is housing the world’s biggest ammonia plant, and hosts 103 industries connected to gas feedstock.
All 103 companies, employing up to 18,000 people, are managed by locals, according to the managers of the country’s gas sector, which is helping to maintain strong local content in the gas and oil industry.
Speaking to the delegation from Ghana, Nigel Salina, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CAF Holdings, said the group was seeking to replicate the Point Lisas Industrial Estate in Ghana, but on a larger scale, since Ghana has more gas reserves than Trinidad and Tobago. The delegation also met Andrew Macintosh, President of the National Gas Company, and Eugene Tieh, CEO of Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited, and other companies that are interested in the Ghana gas project. Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah said that the Ghana Government was grateful for the technical assistance so far provided, and mentioned the crafting of the local content policy document with the support of Trinidad and Tobago experts.
He expressed optimism about the partnership with Trinidad and Tobago, and emphasised President Mills’ determination to ensure that the oil and gas find in Ghana benefited the Ghanaian people. The paramount chiefs of the Nzema Traditional area, who were part of the 21 delegation, were led by the Western Regional House of Chiefs President, Awulae Attiburkusu (III). The delegation also included members of parliament from Nzema, and all the district chief executives.

Well said and moreover, those who are blind to the progressive steps being taken and infrastructural developments springing up all over Ghana are being intellectually dishonest or just wish the government to fail. The alternative government they may wish to see is most likely to plunge this country back to the hands of drug barons with its concomitant proliferation of deadly weapons, compromising of law-enforcement agencies, the judiciary and media. Mexico is a clear example of what happens when such cabals gain political power. As the saying goes: "Show me your friend and I will show you your character". It is my view that we all endeavour to do some good for society every day and enjoy the changes this will make in our lives and environment. Ghana is the only home for most of us and it is a beautiful place and moreover, generally peaceful. What else do we want, if we all increase our self-awareness and refuse to engage in corrupt practices, for example: giving and taking bribes, maliciously spreading untruths about others, stealing public resources and time, and finally pretending to be religious to prey on the vulnerable and gullible in society.

This gas is not coming in till late 2016 or 2017. It was supposed to be just this August, but as usual the propaganda has fallen flat on it's face. How long will it take those IPP companies to build their thermal plants, and that should give one a fair idea of when the gas would come on stream. As it is, the "game changer" is just a pipe dream with it's actualization way beyond 2018.
The pangs of the recklessness of looting would be with us for quite a while and fixing it would most definitely require a new team, new direction and new purpose, because propaganda and deceit coupled with crass looting doesn't achieve any results.

Kick his useless ass to the curb...he has no government sense..to put it in plain words this guy was not born to rule people. You can say stuff about J.J Rawlings for instance as someone who had charisma he could somehow make people feel hopeful although things were not all that good. This Mahama guy makes people feel so empty!!! and lifeless. The Late Atta Mills was very calm and not a talkative,he represented good deeds, he had no records of being with too many women and that kind of stuff. This guy has nothing good that we can actually talk about. He always allows himself to be manipulated...too weak...The late Atta Mills looked weak to people but he was very firm on all decisions..may his soul rest in perfect peace. For NPP they have their own issues...NDC ruled Ghana almost continuous 20 years so we can at least have a record of their ruling...let's see whether we can replace this guy for the next election because he sucks!!!period

Mahama talks too much. Braggadocious statements like "load shedding will be a thing of the past" have been disgraceful. Wait for positive results, then you can point to a real game changer.

foundation building is never seen but the end results will remain for ever
