All the governments can't fight corruption because they don't want to set up and empower independent institutions to fight corruption because members of their own party will be arrested too. So what they do is attest people who are their political opponents to give the impression that they are fighting corruption while their own members keep on being corrupt.

The Ministry of Transport committee corroborated with Mr George Newman of Circle Travel in London and defrauded passengers on a massive scale. Newnam closed his company and is hiding in Accra. British authorities are after him. Because of NDC corruption, BNI investigation is going no way and Ghanaian passengers are out of pocket. Most passengers invoked Antoa deity and those cheats will not go unpunished. So NDC members Ghana International Airways staff, the committee members and Mr Newman & co where ever you are watch out.

Now let's wait and see what the NDC political goons and the spin doctors will tell the Asantehene. May be the Asantehene will be spared the trauma the put Mesa-Otabil through because he didn't pointedly say that "our ship is sinking".

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II should call for that enshrinement and not merely to decry the “irredeemable” level of corruption in Ghana, saying "it is eroding investor confidence and stifling development"

Is there some salvation on the horizon? Not if you listen to the political class and the debates in the media. For them, corruption is not the issue. The issue is who is better at it, which party has been more corrupt. It tells us that we are in danger of coming to accept the inevitability of corruption as our way of life. And there is plenty of evidence that points in that direction.

As you will appreciate, I have had several encounters with various people with complaints about corruption. There was this one who felt he had become the victim of an obnoxious public officer and was going to teach him a lesson. How was he going to do it? Simple. He had prepared a hefty envelope which he was going to give to a senior police officer to induce him to arrest and “put the fear of God into him”.

When I reminded him that he would be committing a crime by trying to bribe a police officer, his answer was Otumfuo, how am I going to have redress if I don’t do it?

That’s the only way now.

Then there was the other who was certain that he had been cheated out of a contract through corruption. He was determined to expose the corrupt process and for that, he too had prepared another substantial envelope for a media man who had promised to help him. I asked him whether he was going to bribe the media man to expose the bribery of

the public officer.

Oh no, he said, the envelope for the media man was just “solidarity”. Musical artistes who have approached me tell me that in order to have their music played on radio, they have to hand out, not bribes, but “payola”. So you see, we are all on what I call a corruption

carousel, whirling around with the music.

And yet this is not something to trifle with. It is destroying business. It is undermining national governance. It is frustrating individuals. And it is eroding international confidence in our country.

We must accept that it is part of the problems afflicting the economy today and while we ponder over policy options, we must cry out for some act of courage to tackle the scourge of corruption, not on the peripheries but at the top."

Otumfuo, Nana Asantehene, you seem to have forgotten the Bompata chieftaincy dispute case. As a result of this inaction on the part of your Asanteman Council, the town has been left without a queen mother for several years now, while the current chief who resides in Accra hardly visits the town.
No wonder there is no development whatsoever going on in this town. Without vision, the people really perish, especially the youth of this town. Is this what the Asanteman Council wishes for the same people they are supposed to serve?
It is amazing how we fail to correct injustice in our society as leaders even if our failure to do so is detrimental to the very society we are expected to serve; yet we cry out loud for justice when the matter at hand adversely concerns us.
It is equally amazing to observe that cases brought before the Asanteman Council can drag for over 40 years without any attempt to call for settlement. Such gross inefficiencies definitely call for urgent need to reform the way the Asanteman Council operates.

We must detest corruption and we need leadership in doing so.
When one is corrupt we cannot move him/her from one post to another, that will never stop corruption. A case in point is the former sports minister.

That is the conundrum in which the country finds itself, because the top is where the corruption originates and is perpetrated with impunity, at the very top, and the most amazing spectacle is that, there's a merry-go-round where the actors/players/instigators/partakers and looters of these corrupt acts are rewarded with cushy opportunities/offices and invited into the "cradle/cave of corruption" akin to speaking the magical words "open sesame" as used by Ali Baba and his forty thieves, whilst paying lip service to the canker and playing to the gallery and hoodwinking the gullible.
Corruption in Ghana under the Mahama NDC gov't has become something like a cult, a religion or better still the very air the friends and family looting brigade breathe in to stay alive.
Ghana is under a cloud and climate of corruption(apologies to JJR), crass thievery and unmitigated looting with incompetence, ineptness and mismanagement forming a potent toxic and lethal mix, sending Ghana and the economy at brain defying speeds into the doldrums leaving in it's wake a failed state and a banana republic. Indeed, Ghana has earned the unenviable title of the "Republic of Corruption", a first ever in the history of this country.
Clearly, there's a pressing and critical purposeful need for a new direction and a new kind of leadership that puts Ghana's growth and development on the right trajectory, lest the country is planted irredeemably in the abyss of retrogression and absolute stagnation.

Corrupton can be fought only by the will and ambition of a government. This is why every society long for a reliable leader who is dedicated to eradicate this epidemy. Dr . Nkrumah tried but failed. The others made efforts to no avail. Corruption intensified with the coup of Rawlings, when most thought, one with nothing could achieve wealth by any means. Whilst crushing the masses on this Steal- free- will . And so corruption gained higher grade with insurbordinates scrabbling for money, position and privileges in the shadows of his imposed government. Atta mills praticed it himself but saw it dangers and decided to fight against it . This is what cause his death. Greedy men and women in his own camp were left with sleepless nights , not ready to loose the sources of their wealth and previleges, so they decided to eliminate him . It is fairly clear here, that, it is corruption and its wings that brought Mahama to the power control. A thief, untouchable because he is indemned as a president. So the beat goes on , this time in the naked eyes of every citizen, exposing us to the world how uncivilized ,the African could be . Is this how the Blackman could manage his own affairs?
