The core problem of the Bawku problem is that some people have decided not to obey the Supreme Court ruling. And because of politics no one is voicing out this fact. We all find it convenient to keep appealing to both factions to let peace prevail. Thus we are pretending no side is violating the law.
The Bawku chieftaincy dispute was settled by the Supreme Court in 2003. The fact that one side is not happy with the ruling is no licence for them to hold the whole country to ransom. And why won't they if we can't tell the guilty party that they must respect the law. Why keep appealing as if both sides have decided to disobey the law? To me this is the crux of the matter: hypocrisy leading to impunity! Even the moral society and the clergy have joined the chorus in appealing.
The hard fact is that the Bawku Inter-tribal Peace Committee has institutionalised the problem. Should we be negotiating and begging people to obey the law? Appeals and moralising will never solve the problem.
The answer is: ENFORCE THE SUPREME COURT RULING

How many people in Bawku are aware of the supreme court ruling of 2003.In 2003, the Mamprusi Reagent of Bawku went to court to seek redress over the chieftancy issue. The issue was for the Supreme court to determine who the real owners of Bawku are. the end result was that the Lawyer representing the Mamprusis called for a withdrawal of the case from court because he had no legs to stand on. The supreme court Judges allowed for the withdrawal on condition that the Bawku chieftancy issue will not appear in any court in Ghana. This was accepted by the Mamprusis and as such, the court slapped a ten million old cedis fine to be paid to Naba Asigre Abugrago Azoka for wasting his time and five million old cedis to the court. The fact of the matter is the peace seekers need to turn their attention to the supreme court ruling and tell those who actually withdrew from the case to let there be peace in Bawku.
