Prof. Danso-Boafo does not need Rawlings approval or permission to publish book. He can go ahead and do just that. If JJ Rawlings has something to say to the contrary, he can then write rejoinders and rebuttals to the book. That is how it is done. At worst he can sue him for defamation and slender but not before the book is published.

The murderer has had how many years to write his own memoirs? - 14 years now, and he is deliberately dithering on the side so that he will die and escape public scrutiny and interrogation. He was so swift in killing people but can't bring himself to account for that rush of madness. Kwaseato like that. Go ahead prof, publish the book and damned the consequences. This case is purely a human rights and legal one, touching the freedom and rights of both parties. So the Prof. honoured his part of the deal by submitting the manuscript to JJ way back in March 2012! And we are in Aug. 2014. Could the long delay in reviewing the book and getting feedback to the Prof be construed as a subtle attempt to sabotage the publication of the book and thereby infringe upon the Prof's freedom to publish too? Let the court decide, free of political and tribal jerks making vile remarks.

Of course, it is all about some vile Akans consistently targeting Ewes and people from northern Ghana for daily ethnocentric insults, and the rest of the Akans with the exception of a very few looking on as if it is a normal thing to do. As my mother used to say when we were kids, it is only one bad palm nut that spoils the rest. So, if you don't want the nut/s to spoil your name, pick and throw them out from the basket! Simple! When notice some ewes insulting people they assumed to be Asantes, I tell them off openly on this very Ghanaweb too. I do that privately too.

It is morally (and I think legally) sound to reason that, if any writer wants to write a book about someone real (unlike a fictional figure), the writer must seek that person’s authorization. A granted authorization from the main character of the book adds a lot of value to the book in that the factual accuracies inside the book can be assumed to be confirmed – the book then can be quoted as an authority and a history book.
It is also important to note that, not all famous people would like anybody at all to write about them. So anyone publishing a book about a real person will have problem selling his book if he did not obtain clearance from the character involved. If this book is published in defiance, all that it will take to plunge the writer and the publishers in trouble is a lawsuit by the character involved in which he would claim he did not give any clearance, point out factual inaccuracies in the book and argue that the writer acted recklessly since he did not do due diligence to get his facts right – a huge amount of damages then can be claimed. Professor Kweku Danso-Boafo can avoid all this by doing everything possible to seek the approval of JJ Rawlings before launching this book.

I think Mr. Danso Boafo's patience is running him down having accorded the respect to Mr. Rawlings by sending him the manuscript since March 1st 2012 which is more than 2-years now. Even if the book is of 10,000 pages, Rawlings so-called lawyers would have finished with its editing.

Mr. Rawlings have read the book and know the contents to be absolutely factual but regret to accept the perception which people born on 1976 forward will learn about him during his uprisings and his tenure at office. After all he had been preaching probity and accountability and do we sweep those under the carpet? Rawlings is real coward. He was just behind the gun doing silly things. E&OE.
