This isn't sickness. When a struggling or needy country organizes an international competition, it opens its doors to investment and business, which ultimately helps in solving some of the problems of the poor and unemployment. The problem with the typical Ghanaian is that he/she wants the government to solve every problem of his/hers. Ghanaians are in general lazy and tend to waste too much time in talking and worshiping the Western Christian God.

I thing you are reading theories from an outdated textbook. Given Ghana's current zeitgeist, economic challenges, an ailing cedi, adn a crumbling high school system, Ghana should not bid to host such an expensive tournament. We will need more high interest loans to do this. We are already struggling to repay China's loans. Let us fix the educational system and stop thinking of new ways to create more Woyomes.

In fact NDC will never again be in government after this session, until the Heavens are no more. Ghanaians are now looking up to fresh ideas from the Progressive People's Party (PPP) so Mr Ayariga, please do not seek any contracts on behalf of Ghanaians beyond January,2015 anyway

Mahama Ayariga! First of all, he has already committed this country to throwing away several thousands of scarce foreign currency by agreeing to bring in a so-called technical adviser to help Akwasi Appiah, when his ministry, together with the GFA, has not able to come up with 'small allowances' for the Black Satellites or the Women`s U-20 team which participated in the WC champion tournament held in Canada! why do some of these young politicians anxious to get themselves into trouble, when there is no reason do so? Can`t the CAF come up with other suitable venues? We know certain countries on our continent, given their present circumstances, are not in a position to do;but what nations in East Africa, say Uganda,Tanzania,Kenya etc?
Why can`t Togo and Benin team up as co-hosts countries, and use some of our sporting facilities, if they have to?
We can`t some of these pliticians learn any valuable lessons from the past[Afcon 2007;that gave rise to 'Woyommigate',in addition to the recent topical fiasco from the 2014 Brazil WC;and learn to stay away from 'disasters' likely to bring shame to our nation in international circles!
I can`t believe Ayariga, who has thus not distiguished himself as an astute Project Manager or Administrator would want to plunge into this affair, head first! My advice to him would be to join forces with his colleague at the Health Ministry,to promote all manner of sporting activity in this country, so as to promote good health throughout the entire nation, and thus cut back on the 'ballooning' health
costs Ghana faces!

Before anyone starts dreadming about organizing that continental competition, Ghana should start upgrading the football facilities that have broken down due to lack of maintenance. Upgrade, yes upgrade related facilities -- stadiums (with clean and working toilets), hotels of world class standards. Puting matches in god forsaken locations with terrible facilities because matches must be spread across the country will no longer do, as it happened in the last continental competition in Ghana. Yes, spread the competitions, but for goodness sake, provide world class standard facilities. Perhaps anything will go as a top facility by Ghanaian standards, but by international standards they could be low grade. It is not just a matter of wanting to organize the competition, the question though is, does Ghana have the facilities -- low grade facilities is not and should not be part of the equation.
