Nana’s sources of income did not come from his personal sweat. He is where he is as a result of the booty bequeathed to him by what his father looted from the economy and also the bribe his father took, serving as a traitor to overthrow Dr.Kwame Nkrumah. Now that he has used up all the wealth through dirty campaign and empty litigations, what he thinks of doing is using his demonstration talent to buy the conscience and lobby by using corrupt minds in leadership position in the country; some of them who pose as men of God, to chastise Government and make the country unstable. The tactics of Nana Addo is nothing new to what his father did to Ghanaians. Their sole interest is to make every regime ungovernable by castigating lies, ugly insults, throwing bombs, killing women, burning markets, lengthy shallow litigations in courts and false alarm blowers. What can they boast of themselves and what have they achieved for Ghana? They want Ghanaians to be sub-servants to them whilst in their own thinking and mental deliberations; they remain perpetually slaves to neo colonialism. From his birth he was thought to backbite, destroy, kill and make shameless utterances, bully, join occult and make use of cannabis. If you are a discern citizen, I will entreat you sit up and think, get knowledge and don’t sell your conscience to these reckless generation who don’t care about you than to seek their self interest

I cannot believe a union leader would make such a demand on an employer. It is the right of the employer to consider other options including non-payment of salaries, suspension of workers, termination of contracts and others when employees embark on strike action that lasts longer than expected. So why is the Union leader asking for apology for mere consideration of withholding salaries of striking workers?

As a union leader, I expect him to know labour laws but it appears he has no clue. In fact, the employer can even unilaterally withdraw any offers on the negotiating table, dismissed workers and re-engage them under a different contract, which the workers have the right to accept or reject. If they reject the new terms of offer then they can resort to the courts for the matter to be decided.

This union leader seems to be using this consideration by the ministry as an excuse to end the strike. He is becoming aware that he might have taken his members on a wide goose chase that could end in disaster for his members. The Deputy Minister is right and should not apologise. I would have dismissed them years ago and re-engaged them under a new contracts. I appreciate that it is within the rights of workers to strike but this has gone beyond reasonable industrial action by workers.

Most of these teachers go to church and pray, they are doing other jobs to get money and expect the government to pay them without any guilt? Where are the men of God? Why these men of God don't educate their followers about good conscience, thou shalt not steal but rather pray for falling currency or criticize sitting government?
Ghana's economy is growing faster than a lot of other countries economy. Economic problems cannot be solved in 3 years or 4 years. It will take longer to fix if workers go on strike, demand money for jobs undone, demand money for low productivity. Appreciate what you have in Ghana .

Lunacy is on the loose in POTAG.In their drunken stupor and stupidly playing politics with students education they want an apology for a fair call to freeze their salary whilst on strike.What are these idiots really up to.At least they have been successful in taking Ghana for a ride and virtually bringing Ghana on its knees because the leadership is headed by a staunch NPP operative.

In Ghana, some seem to equate democracy to lawlessness. In the countries where we copied our democracy from, what makes democracy work for them is the upholding of the law in every sphere of life. There, striking workers don't get paid by their employers.
When on strike, the worker is not on duty for his employer so he cannot expect to be paid by his employer. On strike, he or she is on duty for his trade union who has called for the strike so it is the trade union who is responsible to give him/her strike pay - the well organised trade unions can afford it. In such countries, workers don't have to go on long strikes like 40 days. Even two hours of strike is very significant for workers collectively to make their point.
The reality is that, it is the worker's hours at work that give productivity, which keeps the company in business, and for this, he/she is paid. The worker is therefore not paid to stay at home. The rule is that, any day the worker stays away from work (not as a result of any official excuse due to leave, sickness, etc,) he must forfeit his/her pay.
It is therefore surprising that members of POTAG can be on strike all this while, over 40 days and they are still taking their salaries for doing no work. It is again surprising that the Education Minister and her deputy don't know that when a worker does not come to work, his/her salary must not be paid him/her to the extent that it is only after 40 days of POTAG strike before the deputy minister will issue a lame threat of stopping their salary. It is even more surprising that, POTAG has the impudence to demand apology from the deputy minister for saying the obvious (ie stopping their pay) which should have been done starting from the very day they went on strike.
If the government cannot act firmly on strkes, all that it takes to collapse the economy is for any group of workers to go on strike since they would still be paid while on strike. The government must demonstrate its capacity to govern by ensuring rules are enforced. Even in the UK, a group of workers who went on strike for just 90 minutes in solidarity with a sacked colleague had the shock of their lives when all of them were sacked. POTAG's apology demand is laughable.

The Deputy,Ablakwa is more than right and could not have done any better,both of the new directives for Research money ,and non- payment of Salaries to workers on strike !
"Present your Research and estimates for
funding,if any". Does that calls for a Strike;It's
only in Ghana ! Therefore,the demand by POTAG for an apology from Ablakwa,is irresponsible indeed.Ablakwa owes No apology to POTAG ! Swallow your senseless pride to go back to Classes !
Lecturers of POTAG has been on strike for more than 40 days but strangely expect to draw their Salaries regularly as long as they choose to remain on strike. Where in this World do workers refused to work but get paid at the end of the month !
The decision by the Education Ministry is long-overdue,in the right direction,but not enough. Any amount wrongfully paid while on Strike should be declared as unapproved loan;deductible in 3 or 4 monthly installment.
Again, their positions should be declared Vacant with 4 days ultimatum,after which anyone not at Post should be assumed to have Vacated his/her post/position. Simple !
Unreasonable strike, and moronic demand for apology !
No wonder we find ourselves where we are,if these are the caliber of people without Common Sense approach to resolve issues teaching our Children.God have mercy on us !

How petty... so when the minister apologizes then they would forget their demands on so-called book allowance? By the way, nowhere in the civilized world do workers draw salary while on strike. Here is a question for these too known teachers: If you hire a labourer to weed your farm and the labourer doesn't show up for the work, would you still pay the labourer? What kind of thinking is this? No wonder these days they churn out graduates who can’t match “San Seben” (Standard 7) in my days. Tweaa... then they turn around and blame govt for Ghana's problems.
