Since election results were released in Dec 2012, the NPP has been in campaign mode all along up till now? Why? Is there nothing else to do? This trend was also seen after the 2008 elections. Atta Mills was not given breathing space until he passed on. The NDC when in opposition allows the NPP some space to govern. The NPP on the other hand seems to have nothing else doing.

There is nothing wrong for a Party in opposition to be in election mode for 4 years. If you extend the election year to 5 years, the so-called election mode will be extended o 5 years anyway. The party machinery responsible for organising internal party elections is different from that responsible for Governing. That is why we differentiate between the Government and the Party. US has elections every 4 years and no one is complaining. Our problem is the political parties have fused the party and the Government together. The Governing party does things to make the party look good whether that thing is good for the nation or not. And that way of thinking will not change whether we have a 4 or 5 or 8 year-term.

We decided that through our own Referendum. Do, don't blame anyone or outside forces like we always seem to do.

What you still have to get a grip at is the nature of the white man is a person who loves to run a two hour marathon with a cripple by taking one and half hour lead and when he won let the whole world knows about it and makes you feel you're piece of shit.
WE DO NOT NEED THEIR TYPE OF DEMOCRACY.
Democracy means representation of the people, it does not say how often to recycle anybody.
If running it often messes up your economy, find another way out and screw everyone else. DO WE HAVE BRAINS TO STAY AWAY FROM WHAT WE KNOW CAN KILL US ALL?

In the US all members of congress (parliament) are elected every two years. Members of the Senate are elected every five years, in addition, there are governorship elections, mayoral elections, municipal and county elections that gives on. There is an election every year. Parties also gave their internal elections at various levels. Why should it be different in Ghana if we want all to participate in the democratic process? Electing officers for parties, or electing people to serve in government had nothing to do with development. Definetly cannot mar development. It is the caliber of people elected, and their sense of duty and purpose that will or will not affect the development of the nation. If anything at all knowing that you are going to be accountable to the people through elections, should influence people that seek elective office. It has been in Ghana that incompetent and diabolical people who only seek to loot the nation gets elected because the use their ill gotten money to buy the vote. And the gullible people, the poor and the 1/4 educated fall for it. So therefore if this is how IDEG thinks then it's sad.

Would 5 years have prevented occupiers of state institutions from laundering millions of much-needed foreign exchange via the judgement debt industry?

This is a useless statement issued by the so called think tank. Elections are necessary. In Ghana we don't have too much.

Ghanaians at this very moment want new elections to vote out the NDC gov't. The 4years is even too much and in order to address such incompetence and looting in gov't, it's imperative that, Ghana considers midterm elections in it's governance calendar just as it pertains in other jurisdictions so that, Ghanaians are not saddled with the type of governance being exhibited by the Mahama NDC gov't.
Governance is not trial and error. If the gov't or party lacks the experience they needn't put themselves out there to seek the mandate of the people. Governance is very, very serious business. We need midterm elections in our democracy and sack non-performing, clueless, visionless, inexperienced and thieving gov'ts. It becomes a very, very expensive project with respect to our growth and development as we can see from the current state of the country.
