  Why O why do we continue to let foreigners operate mines in our country?
  
  Foreigners invest in our country only to make profits at our expense, not for development.
  
  They do not fulfill their tax obligations,indulging instead in tax evasion and avoidance, over and under-invoicing to cheat our nation of billions of cedis which should be going into improving the lives of our folk. Worse still, we allow them to transfer all these massive profits abroad. The increased demand for a limited supply of convertible currency is a primary cause of the run on the cedi.
  
  We must set up our own companies to exploit our abundant resources for the benefit of all our people. This would create jobs for our folk, and profits would be re-invested in our economy rather than siphoned abroad. The capital for companies could come from flotation on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
