ASU, IT IS TRUE GHANA AFTER 57 YEARS NEED TO GO BACK AND ASK THE COLONIAL MASTER HELP. WITH THE BRITISH GOVERNOR THIS KIND OF NONESENSE AND NAKED WE SEE UNDER MAHAMA REGIME WILL NEVER BE DREAMT OF. THE BRITISH WILL TAKE OUR RESOURCES TO BRITAIN, BUT WILL MAKE SURE THAT WE GET GOOD ROADS, GOOD HOSPITALS, GOOD SCHOOL ETC TALK OF KORLE BU HOSPITAL, TALK OF KUMASI GEE-KOMFO ANOKYE TALK OF LEGON UNIVERSITY. LET ME ASK YOU READER, DO YOU THINK THE GOVERNOR WHO WILL BE APPOINTED BY THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND WILL EMBEZZLE OUR FINANCES LIKE WE SEE UNDER MAHAMA REGIME? WHEN WE WERE STRUGGLING FOR INDEPENDENCE OUR LEADERS KWAME ETC TAUGHT WE COULD GOVERN EQUALLY BETTER LIKE OUR MASTERS, WE SUPPORTED THE STRUGGLE. 57 YEARS AFTER INDEPENDENCE WE ARE GROWING WORSER AND WORSER WITH EVERY PASSING REGIME. THE BRITISH COLONIAL GOVT NEVER GAVE US ANY REGIME WITH THE SEMBLANCE OF JOHM MAHAS REGIME. I HAVE LIVED THROUGH GODS GRACE-THE ERA OF THE LAST COLONIAL REGIME, LIVED THROUGH EVERY REGIME OF OUR OWN PEOPLE, READER IF WHAT WE NEED IS GOOD SCHOOLS, GOOD ROADS, GOOD HOSPITALS, BETTER LIVES, WE NEED TO CONSIDER GOING BACK TO OUR COLONIAL MASTERS HELP IN GOVT.IF AFTER 57 YEARS WE CANT GOVERN OURSELF, WE NEED TO BURY OUR PRIDE AND ASK THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND FOR THEIR HELP. THE BRITISH GOVERNOR NEVER WASTED OUR RESOURCES LIKE WE ARE WITNESSING, AND AFTER WASTING AND LOOTING OUR COFFERS WE GO TO THEM FOR HELP. MAHAMA IS SAYING OUR DEVELOPMENTAL PARTNERS HAVE FAILED US. WHY DONT WE GIVE THE NATION BACK TO THEM, AND THEY WILL DO WHAT THEY CAN DO BEST FOR US

Yes,we have clueless puppet leaders in Africa but so do we have competent citizens who can get the job done if given the chance.

I was drawn in by your heading but 80 to 90% of your piece is dominated by football and the rest by the subject matter! Don't you think it should have been the other way round?

for country that insults their intelligence and the risk they take from their professional careers? Considering that the average ghanaian will not lift a finger without demanding a bribe of some sort, why should the players be any different? Ghanaians at home don't do anything for free. Even when they are selling salvation. They demand payment for everything so it is hypocritical of them to expect professional players to perform on the world stage for them free of charge. What is annoying is Ghanaians dont want to sacrifice for the well beaing of their country but demand others do so. How stupid and inward looking is that. Ghana is dying and Ghanaians are not willing to die a little to save it. so why should anyone else b expected to do so.

Benard, please accept my apology for commenting without reading your article. This is because your first sentence, "if Black Stars need Foreign Coach, then Ghana needs Foreign President, too!". Should the US be governed by a foreigner because their national team had a German coach? It's a fallacy. Even if Ghanaians have mismanaged the country, it is an insult to say that Ghana should be ruled by a foreigner. It is against the Constitution and could be treasonable. Do not make simplistic argument and jump into hasty conclusion that insults the intelligence of Ghanaians. Why don't you ask the former colonial masters (Britain) to recolonise Ghana? Have a good day.

Whatever it is Kwesi Appiah is a failure and should have resigned or be fired by now. Like the president, he is also there. There are better Ghananains that can handle the Black Stars better than Kwesi Appiah just as there are better and more intelligent and respectable people that can be president and accelerate the development of the country. We are in an era of brainless leaders who do not even know whether they are on track, have succeeded or not. So they continue to sit there thinking there are what they are not. period!

Have you ever pondered the magnificence and excellence of man? We have what it takes to excel and to be competitive. Why should we settle for mediocrity when we are built for excellence? There's a reason why we crawl while others are flying. As you pointed out Germany, the eventual winners beat everyone ecxept Ghana.Ghana has talent but we are unable to harness the talent to maximum use.
Our footballers ply their profession in some of the most successful clubs alongside some of the best players in the world. There's never a professional misconduct nor a whimper from the players even under extreme circumstances or provocation. What was different when the same players had the honor and privilege of representing their country? A championship side is made up of a group of talented sportsmen, a competent technical bench and officials all having the professional attitude to win. The officials and the technical bench were found wanting. They could not fulfill their portion of the bargain. When they wake up from their slumber and do as it's expected of them Ghana will excel. Until then we'll remain just also-rans. Blaming the boys instead means we're not yet able to identify the source of the problem. We cannot win when we can't even identify our mistakes. We can't win if we choose to solve professional problems with amateurish solutions. In professional sports money matters are taken very seriously.

I think Ghana has to go back to the classic Brazilian style man to man Futbol. Huge disappointment with the talent they had. There is no way Harrison Afful, Prince, Essien, etc should be on the bench. Also Wakaso and Acquah are better players than Mohammed. In addition. Kwadwo Asamoah is too much of a game changer on offense to be playing defense. Jeffrey Schlupp should not have been cut. This World Cup was a disaster. Great coaches knows how to settle egos. Obviously, Kwesi Appiah and the gfa officials are not the answer. The best player should play period!
