IF GHANA WANTS TO KNOW HOW TO BENEFIT FROM OIL AND GAS, THEY MUST CONSULT WITH THE NORWEGIAN OIL SECTOR TO LEARN FROM THEIR EXPERIENCE. THEY HAVE BEEN THERE AND BESIDES THEIR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCUMULATE A LARGE RESERVE FUND. GHANA MUST READ WHAT THE NORWAY'S AMBASSADOR REMARKED NOT LONG AGO. ALBERTA, CANADA IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW NOT TO MISMANAGE OIL REVENUE.

I thought that was the whole point of going through the rigorous checks in the first place before production started. Is he now saying they didn't do their due diligence??

In September 2011 at Marriott Hotel in New York during a public forum, I asked President Mahama, then the Vice President to Pres. Mills, that why was Ghana still entitled to 10% share of the oil find when the whole world knows that Ghana is oil rich, and that Kosmos and Co. got a better deal because, as pioneers they were rewarded by the significant risk they took.
President Mahama just answered that drilling oil is very expensive, and that was that, PERIOD! He didn't give me a second chance to follow-up. Ghana Government is not business-minded at all, and that is the price we are paying - so sad.
