Sir, your advise is long overdue. It is equally essential at this Mahama wahala because, the combined effect of poverty and alcohol is early grave. One thing about alcohol is that it is addictive. One drop calls for quarter which leads to bottles and subsequently, gallons. It is important to note that, being in uniform predisposes officers to alcoholism. In fact many once upon a time energetic youth who were posted to the communities became alcoholic. Their personalities were dwindled and snapped by ogoglo. Their personal development in the police career. So in as much you do want to create a competent police, it is imperative to giving zero tolerance to alcoholism among uniformed men. A little alcohol is as disastrous as barrels of it. Thank you Sir for hearing.

If the Police Officer is drunk whilst on duty,how can they point fingers at drunk drivers and discourage the habit which is causing uncalled for accidents and its attendant lost of life on our roads?
I hope the police command will fight feverishly for a new and respectable image for the police service.

This is a no brainer. its as simple as that. A police officer with any alcohol intake has to be suspended as first occurrence. The second occurrence is without pay and the last occurrence is expulsion.

with this policy practiced the world all over, police officers who are the first line of law enforcement will desist from this unprofessional practice. No police force in the world drink alcohol on duty. How can a drunk citizen be disciplined by an alcohol consumed police officer or police force? It is even ironic for police to apprehend drivers under the influence of alcohol when they themselves are intoxicated. This is the reason why there are many fatal road accident in Ghana.
