All of a sudden nonentities want to portray to the world how close they were to the late President.
Those who had to chat with him for one hour everyday, those Deputy Ministers who had to call him every morning before the man could even brush his teeth, and still those who would be called to the Castle by the late President to express his appreciation for job well done after they had gone to insult political opponents in the media on his behalf. Shameless id.iots raising their egos

This vexing issue should NOT be seen along partisan lines. All parties must have an opinion to express, i.e., whether they approve of the continuation of the insane book and research allowance system or its abrogation with a civilised system. Those of you who are just insulting here, some in very bad English, are simply betraying how uncouth, clueless and uneducated you yourselves are.
My beef with govt is that it is pussyfooting with informing the public about why a decision has been taken to abrogate the system. I blame it on the fact they themselves haven't thought through properly a fitting replacement. After all, it was the NDC that introduced the monstrosity in the first place! Clueless all of you are!

I am quite worried about the health of our tribal relationships. It looks like the people who are tasked at bringing us together are rather working at breaking us apart. This dangerous trend must be challenged and renounced.

Government is adopting every possible means to cancel allowances to trainee teachers and nurses, book and research allowances paid to POTAG and UTAG members.Ironically MPs, Ministers of state and government appointees continue to receive outrageous salaries, free fuel,ex gratia, free accommodation etc.
Politicians are cheating us.They are scrambling for money and wealth
for themselves and their families leaving majority of Ghanaians poor and miserable.
The national cake should be shared equitably.Nation Ghana does not belong to Politicians alone.
Government should pay the Book and Research Allowance to POTAG and UTAG.

I hope we will stop this personalization and politicization and look at the issues dispassionately. Those who see every thing politics will regret it pretty soon. It must be made clear that this issue of money, money, and money will kill this country and we shall die looking at each others eye balls...and any time any group comes up to demand for more money all we hear is the corus, "give it to them, give it to them". Exactly what we did to mess up the black stars and doing same with POTAG...where is the love for country in all this?.. That lecturers choose to take students hostage not for their salaries but for a "small" book and research allowance..an allowance that benefits the lecturers more than the students and us all? go on strike because of once a year allowance that can never be compared to the fees paid by students? and yet you have so-call students supporting them? Student leaders have become so lazy at thinking and all they do is partisan politics; even when their rights are being trampled upon. Don't the students have same right to demand that they be taught?, have the students not paid their fees and so entitled to tuition? is POTAG not taking their salaries after all? will the student fees paid be refunded after all this nonsense? What kind of student leaders are these? are the students suppose to work in the interest of students or in the interest of POTAG? If these are the kind of leaders we will have in future then this country is dead, i dare say! What kind of weird thinking and logic is this?
Most surprising is the role of civil society, advocacy groups, so call think tanks, etc. They all seem to see nothing wrong with this moral ineptitude and bizarre love for money; where the upper class continuously ask for more to the neglect of the very poor who work in silence and in abject poverty..we call this democracy? We think that is the way to go? We have become a laughing stock to the international community.

How far true is it that retired teachers are charged certain fees before their retirement benefits can be processed. This is very sad; how can someone who has toiled for up to 40 to 45 years be expected to pay monies (which are not there) to staff at the Welfare and Pension units of GES to have their pension. It took my uncle several trips from Axim to GES HQ and some bribes before his papers were processed. It took him 25 months to have his small pension!!! The Minister should look into this so that others don't suffer same way.
