It would cost less than $400 to give everybody a solar panel, battery and light bulb. But there would be no chop chop for the politician because there would be no bills to pay as long as the sun keep shining. If there are 1 million homes in Ghana everybody could have light for $400,000,000.

Ghana must reduce reliance on oil- based systems.

evem with solar all the panels would have been bought from China, plus what do you do during the rainy season...some solar would be good to balance out the drought effects on both dams...but dams performs several task that so ...

The point is we don't think through issues thoroughly and we jump to what is politically newsworthy. We must think and get the right peop

The question 'experts' should be asking is did the ghanaian government get value-for-money with the Bui Dam? Did it cost 2X or 3X more than the original price tag...and if so, where did the money go?

People are talking about solar, solar, solar....Ghana has a lot of sunny days...that's great, but the cost of solar electricity is significantly more expensive than traditional methods. Hydro is cheaper than solar. natural gas generators are much cheaper than solar power.

The western european governments are more concerned about the environment, that is why they are going with green power. They can't afford to go 100% green because their cost for affordable electricity would sky rocket.
