Felix, I couldn't agree with you more. The Chief is aware that should he not pursue them to pay the compensation now, he and his people will get nothing once the project is completed. For that reason, he is striking the iron when it's red hot.

Instead of the Daily Post criticizing Ghana Gas Company for failing to pay compensation for the land prior to starting the project, the paper is rather backing the wrong doing. Instead of the paper asking Ghana Gas Company what has taken them this long to pay compensation to the land owners, it supporting what appears to be corruption. When land is acquired by the state, the landowners are deprived of their livelihood and therefore it is very critical that compensation is not only paid but paid on time. I do not blame the Chief for his action and this has nothing to do with patriotism or lack of it.

Just imagine what is currently being revealed at the Judgement Debt Commission. Is the Daily Post suggesting that the Chief should wait and go for judgement debt years later?

Someone should investigte this issue and the whole of Ghana will be surprised to know that it is politically motivated. Some party in opposition is preventing the project from progressing, using this so called chief who practically is never in the country but always in the USA. Simply because it will make the ruling government poppular. Can someone openingly tell me what the opposition has contributed to the development of the country since being in opposition? Instead of helping the government to the benefit of Ghanaians as meaningful citizens, they rather negatively critize everything the government does. This is not what is happpening in the politics of the so called developed nations. At a point opposition and government should work together. After all it is about the people and not about their selfish gains.
