the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us

I agree that it is very useful to have a national airport in Tamale but I doubt that creating an international airport in Tamale is worth it. They should instead invest money in railroads (surface) to all major cities in Ghana and perhaps some underground railroad within the big metropolitan areas. These will springboard our industrialization. Don't make political, tribal/regional decisions make economic decisions.

This is why this country is in a mess. Pilgrimage to Mecca is an annual affair. Is this so called international airport going to generate enough business to sustain it self? Who in the world is going to fly to Tamale and then drive or fly in another ramshackle domestic airline to Accra? In Ghana everything is done in Accra. All investors coming to Ghana will fly to Accra because all the ministers and government officials are there. Has the government sought the commitment of major airlines to use Tamale as a hub? This is another white elephant and should be stopped. Our politicians have no sense! Renovate the Tamale airport but elevate it to international airport, give me a break!

FLEECING GHANA PART 3
FROM NATIONAL PUBLICATIONS
The Judgement Debt Commission was yesterday told how the inaction of the Attorney General’s Department led to the payment of nearly GH¢4 million as judgment debt to some retired police officers in 2003.
A Legal Officer from the Ghana Police Service, Anthony K. Kokroko, who briefed the Commission, regretted that some of the retired officers did not deserve the money paid them, but because the AG failed to defend the case, they went away with it. According to Mr. Kokroko, between 1993 and 1995, 714 police officers took the Police administration to court, but the AG failed to enter appearance to defend the case.
As a result, the retired officers obtained a default judgement against the state. Mr. Kokroko further told the Commission that initially, only eight retired officers sued, but because the AG failed to defend the case, 706 others also sued and won. He expressed disappointment over the AG’s refusal to defend the cases in court, and that “they could have done something during the trial to have mitigated the outcome of the judgment.”
According to him, although some of the police officers were retired prematurely, some of them had already retired and received their benefits, but since the AG refused to appear in court, the judgment was given in favour of the complainants. Mr. Kokroko said the country would have saved several millions of cedis if the AG had defended the case against them, because some of the retired officers were working on a contract basis, but they all went to court. He, therefore, pleaded with the AG’s office to endeavor to defend cases when they are sent to court, to avoid the state losing huge sums of money.
A private Legal Practitioner, Mrs. Margaret Yaa Ntiriwaa Acheampong, who represented the police officers in court, also appeared before the Commission. Briefing the Commission, Mrs. Acheampong said her uncle, one Joseph Nkrumah, who was also retired prematurely, told her about his ordeal, and she agreed to take the case to court. According to her, after she had filed the writ in court, her uncle introduced seven of his colleagues who had also been retired prematurely in 1993 to her, and they were brought on board.
According to Mrs. Margaret Yaa Ntiriwaa Acheampong, when she filed the writ, the AG failed to enter appearance, so she managed to obtain a default judgement, and the state was subsequently ordered to pay GH¢34,000. She further told the commission that though the judgment was given in 1999, the payment of the money delayed until 2003, before it was paid.
She added that in 1995, she again represented another batch of 706, but, again, the AG’s office did not enter appearance, resulting in the payment of over GH¢3.6 million judgment debt to the officers.

Tamale Airport11
Mr Pedro Alexandre Figueiredo Alves, Project Engineer of Queiroz Galvao Contracting Company, has assured that full construction works would soon commence on the 100-million dollar upgrading and expansion project of the Tamale airport.
He said the firm, which had been awarded the contract to work on the project, has begun testing the soil and taking measurements of the landmarks to lay a good foundation for the actual physical works to begin on the upgrading of the airport to international standards.
Mr Figueiredo was speaking to the Minister of Transport, Mrs Dzifa Attivor on Tuesday in Tamale during a working visit to the area to acquaint herself with the level of preparedness towards the commencement of the project.
The Contractors are currently on site, putting finishing touches to their accommodation and office structures at the Tamale Airforce base, with other facilities such as warehouses, laboratory, canteen and a medical centre progressing steadily.
The first phase of the project that comprised the extension of the runway from the current 2,480 meters to 3,940 meters, include the installation of a complete lighting system to accommodate bigger aircraft. The project, expected to be completed in September 2015, was signed between the management of the Ghana Airport Company Limited and the Brazilian construction company and subsequently approved by Parliament in September last year.
Mr Thiago Pinho, Planning Engineer of the Project, said even though some of the equipment had arrived on site, they were still expecting more from Brazil and Europe to facilitate work, and stressed that, apart from the extension of the runway, they would also improve on other facilities to meet international standards.
He indicated that they had already employed a core staff that include Ghanaians and Europeans, but were yet to meet their full complement of work force and that screening was still ongoing to engage additional qualified staff. Alhaji A. B. A Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, who earlier welcomed the Minister to the region, explained that the project was significant for the people, particularly in job creation, and that it would bring rapid socio-economic development.
He pledged the Northern Regional Coordinating Council’s unflinching support to the successful completion of the project and promised to ensure that all bottlenecks relating to land acquisition and its resultant challenges were resolved amicably. Mrs Attivor expressed the commitment of the government in extending opportunities to all parts of the country for accelerated growth and development.
“This project is so dear to the government and the people in this part of the country and so we are determined to ensure that it is completed on schedule not only as a fulfillment of our campaign and manifesto promises, but also as a social obligation,” she said. She said apart from serving Ghanaians in the northern part of the country, the Tamale International Airport would also provide services for other sub-Saharan regions, including Burkina Faso and Mali.
The Tamale International Airport, she added, would serve Muslims in the North and neighbouring countries on their annual pilgrimage to Mecca and support the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) in exporting perishable goods.
