  If you live near the border, you have the choice of selling for the best price instead of selling to be paid 6 months later only for your cash becoming worth much much less. This is called rational thinking in a bad economy. If soldiers have to stop smuggling then cocoa farmers must get the help they need from the chop chop men in authority.

  The government cannot stop cocoa smuggling along the border and the reason is quite simple. The producer price in Ghana should be at par with the Ivory Coast else, forget about smuggling. Look, anytime we increase our producer price, the Ivorians increase theirs slightly because they prefer ours due to how we dry the cocoa beans.
  
  Trust me, if you live along the border nobody will tell you to sell your cocoa to the Ivorians because at times, our purchasing clerks are too nasty and the farmers are tired of their arm twisting tactics.
