When the PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE (PAC) of Parliament invites KORLE BU to appear before it to answer queries arising out of the Auditors General Report it only the CEO and the DIRECTOR OF FINANCE that would appear to answer questions. The Director of Pharmacy should concentrate on his core functions and leave financial matters with the CEO and DIRECTOR OF FINANCE to handle.
The Director of Pharmacy can only endorse the invoices from the suppliers when submitted to provide assurance to the CEO, DIRECTOR OF FINANCE and DIRECTOR OF AUDIT that the goods have been received.

Any well-educated person who is imbued with basic common-sense ought to know that as large and as complex Korle Bu is, it is not feasible, possible or sensible for any one single person to think that he can sit on top of the administrative pyramid and sign all the cheques of that huge institution. It is a move which is either counter-productive or designed to favour corruption at the very top.

Why? Dont they have accountants, auditors, administrators and security men in the management chain of the various depts of the hospital? If they do, but they are all proven to be corrupt therefore they cannot be relied on, fire them. At least that, I will support.

But to think that one man who calls himself a CEO and who takes strange irregular decisions which the supervising Ministry has to step in and reverse, can transform himself into the Chief Accountant and the Financial Director in one go, is a development which is extremely suspicious and difficult to understand. Hasnt the CEO man got anything else to do as the CEO? Ah! But why do Africans go to school at all? To become stupid or what?

In fact when people's salaries were tripped, we never heard any thing from these disgruntled staff. Now he is cleaning up, and moving into using systems and ICT to control stuff so the grave looters can see their end in sight so they are crying wolf. If I were the president, I will tell the universities and other state supported institutions to wean themselves and pay their staff well and Ghana will change.

I think Mahama should immediately relieve him of his duties at Korle Bu and reassign him to go and manage Shatawale or Buc-Bac if they are interested in any 'old-man cowboy' running their shows for them. Otherwise, since he claims he is some kind of Pastor of sorts, he should quickly put in an application to Duncan-Williams to go and help him to spiritually revive the Ghana Cedi whilst the opportunity remains open.
