So Mahama has not done the impact analysis but has been sending Hannah around the region to woo others into signing the contract, Mahama even met with EU recently. I wonder what the purpose of the meeting(s) was without any stats/analysis to back what we negotiate. What a bunch of idiots in government!
"We must not sign an agreement without first of all carrying out a robust economic analysis of the overall impact the agreement will have on the region, our children and future generations.”

i dont see the Europeans offering the other benefits such as the freedom of movement and insisting on visa free entry into their countries. they are not offering half a trillion for infrastructural development and real assistance in bettering the standard of the people of west Africa . this is a war that will destroy any chances of self reliance and self development . see what they have done to our poultry , fish and beef industry . until we have people who understand the issues and the true hidden agendas and dangers of such a one sided agreement where the benefits are only for the Europeans we should not engage in any such devastating experiments . EPA is being pushed now because they are aware pepeni is an illigimate president , even now the video of the murder of atta mills is being circulted in private circles and one day soon he will be overthrown so he is rushing to put another yoke and burden on the people of Akan. this govt can only borrow and can not even secure investments of 30 billion dollars how do they expect to handle a multitrillion agreement which in reality denies your own people the right to develop their own industry. our industrial base is less than 3% by the way. lets not allow this foolishness to pass , its time for a revolution so we restart the future for our children. we shall never surrender

This assertion by President Mahama suggests that this president either has a complex "facing" the Europeans or simple not smart. I am wondering what the President means by going it alone. This EPA agreement is only meant for the English-speaking countries, and, at present, more specifically for Ghana and Nigeria. The French-speaking countries in the ECOWAS have nothing to lose from this EPA agreement. Is there anything, and I mean ANYTHING, in any of the French countries that France, and for that matter EU, cannot get even without the EPA? There has always been an EPA-type agreement between France and the Francophone countries. Now, can anyone honestly claim that the Francophone countries are better than the other ECOWAS countries?
Actually, Ghana and Nigeria are far better politically, economically, fiscally, socially and in many other areas than any of the Francophone countries. Those who think the EPA will bring development, industrialization, and other improvements should look at how much the Francophone countries have gained from France and Europe. EU is going through a very challenging economic situation, so why is the ECOWAS relying on them for their economic salvation? What economic development project is so important that the soul of the country should be sacrificed for?
What the entire government should keep in mind is that they should not arrogate to themselves the decision to, or not to, sign the EPA. This is a national prerogative. What would the discussion be if our fore-fathers had signed a similar agreement? This agreement is just brainless. If the EU truly believe in fair trade, they would not have promoted this agreement. The drafting of this agreement shows complete lack of respect for ECOWAS countries. Do not sign this agreement. There are alternatives to the EU markets. Do not panic. Nigeria's decision is the wise and mature one. Follow Nigeria's lead. Ghana and ECOWAS will be okay wthout the EPA. Ghana's chairmanship of the ECOWAS was meant as a trap for the president. Figure out a way to weasel your way out of it. A larger majority of the country does not like this agreement. Put the EPA agreement to a vote and use it as an excuse to back out of the EPA. The NDC and NPP are completely wrong in supporting the EPA. Those who back this agreement must be punished at the polls. They are unpatriotic and criminally incompetent.

The European Union has finally reached a consensus on the Economic Partnership Agreement with ECOWAS.
ECOWAS countries by this agreement would soon have to open up 70 percent of their markets to EU goods, while having 100 percent access to the European market except for rice and sugar.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Haruna Iddrisu has said Ghana’s final position on the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union would largely be influenced by the decision of ECOWAS.
Following the consensus, it is likely Ghana would be compelled to sign the agreement with the EU.
But speaking in a meeting with Members of Parliament, Head of EU delegation to Ghana, Claude Maerten says it is up to the individual member countries to decide whether it will sign the pact.
He said heads of state of the European Union have agreed to commit 6.5 billion euros assistance to countries that will sign the agreement. The amount is also expected “to help the economic transformation of the region”, he said.
The engagement is part of efforts to meet policy-makers and the public on the fine details of the Economic Partnership Agreement.

How can you have any agreement with somebody who works for 17 mins to buy a beer while you work 6-7 hours to buy the same beer.
You are force to buy the beer from no one else not from the person who only works 17 min to be able to buy the beer.
What kind of agreement can you have with such a person. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice Everywhere.
Equal terms or nothing. John Mahama govt should know trade agreement is not only and shouldnt be only the decision of the president. Its always a long term agreement. All parties should know what is in the agreement and abia to follow it if they come to govt.
Trade agreements are the most important thing for every country, you make a wrong decision and the whole country suffer, you make a good decision and the whole country enjoy the benefits.
Can ghanaians also work for 17 mins to unable them to buy the same beer in ghana.
Why didnt the EU delegates go to ECOWAS first before going to individual countries.
What is the difference with the trade agreements with countries like UK, France and USA. How will these EU trade agreement affects them.
Why cant all ghanaians see the agreement the president is going to sign in our name. Its a written agreement, why cant ghanaians debate it first before the president signing.
Long time agreements is playing god, anything can happen. Will the agreement still hold.
I hope and wish people see human being not a land with boaders, let take away boaders and live equally in freedom.
