first law of economics is supply and demand , second is never produce anything if there is no market for it . we have the market so we can industrialize sooner or later , hand it over freely to the Europeans no matter how well packaged and the future of our children are doomed. i dont see the Europeans offering the other benefits such as the freedom of movement and insisting on visa free entry into their countries. they are not offering half a trillion for infrastructural development and real assistance in bettering the standard of the people of west Africa . this is a war that will destroy any chances of self reliance and self development . see what they have done to our poultry , fish and beef industry . until we have people who understand the issues and the true hidden agendas and dangers of such a one sided agreement where the benefits are only for the Europeans we should not engage in any such devastating experiments . EPA is being pushed now because they are aware pepeni is an illegitimate president , even now the video of the murder of atta mills is being circulated in private circles and one day soon he will be overthrown so he is rushing to put another yoke and burden on the people of Akan. this govt can only borrow and can not even secure investments of 30 billion dollars how do they expect to handle a multitrillion agreement which in reality denies your own people the right to develop their own industry. our industrial base is less than 3% by the way. lets not allow this foolishness to pass ,

Cool, you must be very naive or stupid, because the current galamsey problem reflects the fact that Ghanian government from traditional Chiefs (or "Thiefs) to MP & Ministers are all directly benefiting from galamsey!! How do you think that MPs making small money are all driving big SUVs and living in nice residential areas. The only problem with Ghana and for Africa in general is we the Africans ourselves!!

Why can't the state simply make it a crime to do illegal mining - unconditinally?
A simply exapmle: in UK and Germany, it is illegal to go a kill a swan swimming in a river or a simple squirrel (yes I mean OPURO in Twi) jumping on trees. Of course, if you that and no one sees, God has saved you. Otherwise, you'll be punished by the courts. I know a Nigerian who had to do social work for 8 weeks for killing a tiny squirrel!
So why do we look on while people do galamsey fiili-fiili? I mean why?
Who can tell me why is it that way in Ghana?

That's simply the typical Ghanaian attitude. Even when they know what to do, they can't do it. Just talk, talk and talk some more. Instead of waiting for gov't to act why can't he ban galamsey in his own region for starter.

This is a proof that we have a weak government, period.
I suggest we allow the Asafo to team up with specially created police to guard against this destruction. Something must be done real quick.
