It very regretful that, a man or a chief of a traditional tribe made a statement that, Ghanaians should stop of leaving Ghana for a greener pastures. I wish Otumfo will ask himself why Ghanaians including those of his tribe travel abroad for greener pastures. It is people like him and those in Ghana made it that way.
However, looking at it very well, those who are at disadvantage are the ones traveling abroad for money. But those who have part of their family in the government and advantage do not even think of going anywhere at all. Simply because they have the opportunity to steal and corrupt from the people they are leading while those people have no right to say anything against them. For example, when a thies steal, he get maximum jail term of 10-20 years. While politicians continue to be roaming about in the streets of Ghana claiming there is no evidence. Tell otumfo where will this happen in an advance country? With this telling me to stay in Ghana? After all, the country lie on a time bomb due to tribalism, hate and over all differences of ideas.

I have no problem with what Asantehene is saying, the fact that he has travelled abroad means that he has some experience with life in foreign countries.

Too many people leave Africa only to discover that their condition abroad is worse than when they were in Africa, some of them cannot even afford to come home on vacation because they are broke, even though some may be working more than one job.

My advise to everyone (especially young people,) who may be thinking of traveling to foreign countries, is to properly prepare yourselves for the task ahead, learn a trade, go back to school and upgrade your education, make yourself marketable or you would be in for a very miserable life abroad.

Before leaving for US in the 60's, I returned to the classroom 6 years after dropping out of school, despite my determination to improve my education, I still had a difficult time making ends meet. However, because of my preparation and determination, I was eventually able to succeed and come home to GHANA/PARADISE!

Many bloggers have allowed themselves to be blinded by tribal hatred, as a result, they cannot appreciate the cautionary advice of the Otumfuo. I accept his message as being one of wisdom, because I've been there and it is not an easy task, TRUST ME BELOVEDS!

PS. I am not Ashanti, just trying to be objective.

I agree with him 100%, however, everyone who disagrees with President Kwame Nkrumah's CPP, must also disagree with Asantehene on the subject of China's success, and the methodology used by China to arrive at their objective. China is a ONE PARTY SOCIALIST STATE, who do not worship anything that's not Chinese.

Reactionary Ghanaians, would condemn and seek to undermine and destroy their own progressive leaders, while heaping praises on foreign leaders who have used the same formula as theirs.

Chairman Mao and Osagyefo used the exact political methodology, opportunist reactionary elements in Ghana attacked Osagyefo, chased him out of Ghana, banned the CPP, systematically dismantled Ghana's economic base by selling off and abandoning the country's NATIONALIZED ASSETS, and now that they have reduced the Nation to beggar status, they are praising China for not being as daft and vision less as they are.

I've seen young and energetic people at the villages distroying rich soil and water bodies with cynide and mercury permanently panning for gold, when the best alternative, yet sustainable way of using the land productively is FARMING.

Youngters look down on farming because it does not offer answer to their "get rich quickly atittude". But I can tell you that our grandfathers used proceeds from farming to build all those huge mansions one finds in Adum, Ash Town Asafo, Krofoforomu etc.., and still put our fathers through university education...

My point is simple: Otumfuo was ONLY counselling people against risking one's life travelling through the treacherous SAHARA DESERT and picking a dingy boat through the Mediterranean sea to say, Italy or Spain; two countries which are not even doing any better economically compared to Ghana. But then, a maiden traveller could never be aware of the hardship awaiting till s/he reaches those countries, that is if one doesn't lose his/her life on the boat journey over the mediterranean Sea to begin with. This year alone many would-be migrants have lost their youthful lives this way. Otumfuo's advice drew its origin form this sad episode ok?

As hard as you perceive Ghana to be economically, it's far better than risking one's life over uncertainty in ecomically depressed Europe, or death in the middle of nowhere. The youth need to change their mindset they hold for ABROKYIRE, and learn a skill, any skill in Ghana and that will be their JOB for living without being angry at elders like Otumfuo for "failing" to provide job opportunities.

What happened to "personal responsiblities" that people have to to take in order to safegaurd their own future in their country of origin? The effort and stress one had to go through in order to reach not-so-good-Europe is just not worth it, beacause if half of that effort was used to acquire a skill in Ghana, one would be far better-off. Now that's advice, it does NOT stop you from travelling through the desert path or airport to any destination of your choice!!

He goes to South Africa to have a glorious time -- so much so that his own subjects spread rumours that he has died there. Can't he learn from that that he is alienated from his subjects?

He says he supports "governments", not political parties. How profound! Otumfuo, please understand that governments are formed by political parties. So if you support the government to win the Supreme Court case, you have supported the NDC to win the Supreme Court case. And you have landed Ghana with a Government of akowhifuor, who will steal every penny out of the nation's 'pockets, because to them, their time has come to chop the nation's money some. Look at GYEEDA, SADA and other means of stealing they have set up.

It is a shame that you sit on the Golden Stool but you do not understand the significance of that Stool.

Right now as it is , the government cannot create jobs, does not provide conducive atmosphere for private sector jobs and have no clue how address our alarming unemployment situation.
If it wasn't for SAKAWA, majority of the youth would have probably committed suicide by now.
Did Otumfour think about why the youth are fleeing for greener pasture before making that laughable statement?
Or he just wanted to make some NOISE and be in the limelight.
Even for fear of reprisal by the youth due to the deplorable status quo, Mahama himself would wish the youth will flee from the country so as to reduce the unemployment rate which is currently pegged at over 50%.

The important thing from the king is to protect and maintain our existency and just like I said before, the gaudian who is the king is failing us. We, the people of Asante, just as any Akan has maintained the oath to protect the king but has the king done the same? Do we have greener pastures at home at all and if so, why has my king not done similar oath of protecting us in terms of the living standards. When I meet others of foreign origin and they ask where I am from and if I respond "Ghana", they quickly put it "hard working people" and that is what we maintain over here in abroad for our existence. You knew the greener pastures at home but ever since a child I have seen no sign but rather the enthusiasiasm to travel abroad because you said, "white man's education is power. Travel and see and you are "GERMAN BOGA" the best." The neighbourhood could give me their beautiful daugthers because I am from Europe.
