Any Akan who is a member of this treacherous hate filled ndc is only sawing the tree of life he is sitting on .People still refuse to open their eyes and recognize the reality of this sad evil situation .its seems our pessimistic predictions about our country are coming true .the country will eventually fall apart due to tribalism and corruption as the institutions of state will become so weak and biased that they will be the cause of an uprising that will turn bloody .nothing good can come out of following this govt as they are too busy being selfish , greedy and hating the Akans .it is the reality of our circumstance and is partly due to the lazy , blindly trusting nature of the Akans.God does not help lazy people who can not make good positive choices and decisions . do not call upon the name of thy lord in vain .there is true wisdom in the Bible just that our people are fond of misintepreting things to suit their non action laziness and foolishness .our people are not everyone in ghana , africa or the universe , our people are the 10 tribes ordained by God to be the Akans .NDC would have us believe the country is and economy is getting better but in reality they are stealing more to Iran Dubai and Turkey every week . They would have has believe this pepeni could get a greater victory margin the mills and in 2016 or next they will beat Nkrumah and North Korea's record and get 99,99% of the vote as all Ghanians are so enthusiastic about Great Pepeni that they don't believe that anyone can do any better . They have brainwashed and conditioned the minds of many to believe Akans are the undoing of the nation the same way the Israelite were in Egypt but when we say let our people go they say we are nations wreckers and we are too selfish because we will not be slaves and give our gold , oil and cocoa willing for free as its their birthright to exploit us . They tell us where ever you go in the tro tros and in the streets people are singing praises of Mahama and burst up in joy when ever they see any NDC man coming , we know otherwise . the time will come for sure when the people will resign to the fact that only a bloody uprising will set us free . Ghana has one of best human capital on the continent but due to nepotism and sycophancy the gov'ts is always using incompetent people to handle the affairs of the nation making it difficult to change anything in the development of the country.With incompetency there is no progress,the only progress the gov't achieve in this situation is daylight robbery by these inept and lazy cohorts of the leader who are giving the opportunity to shine.
The mistake keep sending Africa and for that matter Ghana back but almost all the past gov'ts tried it looking for different results.
WHY ARE GHANAIANS BLINDED BY THEIR GREEDINESS?? If at least those in power are so dumb and daft and cannot come up with ideas of their own why not copy from countries like Singapore or Malaysia which went through the same process as Ghana with less natural and human resources.

The Economic forum of the best brains should be followed by the same approach to all other areas: Energy, Corruption, Health inspectors, Education, Job creation, Regional Integration and Decentralization of jobs and Resources, etc., etc. The universities should come up with their own for all sectors based on research and data gathered. If our universities can't help sustain our development as a nation, then they should be declared useless. John Mahama and Parliament need to make funds available to the universities ASAP to do all they can to have a blueprint for running the country. The best from all the universities should be chosen by the legislatures and added as an addendum to our constitution. This must of course include checks and balances built in to weed out corruption.

The issue is, they are not just short of ideas but they don't know what to do, hence they have run the Ghanaian economy into a ditch. Kwesi Botchwey by virtue of his benefiting from the corruption and incompetence by MAHAMA and his NDC government is trying to defend the indefensible. The (Bank of Ghana) BOG must ensure that foreign currencies are supplied to only Ghanaian importers of foreign goods. These must not fall into the hands of foreigners operating in Ghana who earn cedis but who would want to transfer funds to their shareholders in dollars.

Ghana has a market economy. Ghana is not an OECD country. Prices of goods and services in Ghana must be determined by demand and supply.

There is supply of certain currencies but absolutely no demand for those currencies. What should be the value of these currencies? These currencies include Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, Swiss Franc, Danish krone, Swedish krona, Norwegian Krone. Swift transfers to Ghana in these currencies must be rejected. All EU countries must transfer or bring to Ghana only Euros.

The global oversupply of United States dollars is disturbing.

On the contrary there is demand for chinese Yuan but there is no supply in Ghana.

We must not forget that the role of currency is to facilitate the exchange of goods and services. That is commodity-Money-Commodity (C-M-C)

Can we apply similar logic and fallacious thinking to the world economic forum? Here is a listening government who wants to consult with the people and cross-fertilize ideas and you are calling them incompetent?
The president's action is a step in the right direction and although may be unconventional, it is certainly innovative.
When the government consulted widely during the constitutional review, we did not see anything wrong with it. When it consulted widely during the salaries and wages review, we did not see anything wrong with it. When is consulted widely on matters relating to elections, we did not see anything wrong with it.
Why are we now calling it incompetence when it comes to economics?
Democracy is governance of the people, by the people and for the people. Consultation through forums will only strengthen democracy, not weaken it.
I suggest this be done on a more regular basis and a widely consulted framework should be formulated to guide future consultation processes to cut across all arms of government – judiciary, executive, legislative and the even the media.
Those who criticise this initiative are rather worried that the outcome of the consultative process will be successful and make the government popular thereby granting the NDC yet another victory in 2016. Such worries are unfounded. The best government is one that meets the needs of the good people of Ghana (As if bad people of Ghana exist!).

Kuffour did his best to fix the foundation poorly laid in almost 20 years of AFRC/PNDC misrule but now see what all can see-shambles, shambles, just shambles! Best to shelf any traces of economic coding to unlock the economy from the team of PNDC!

We have had more than enough! Fresh ideas and pragmatic ones at that required to heal the economy.

Leave PNDC/Mahama-led NDC government, come a new team come the next election be it from NPP or PPP or whatever P! But not again from the PNDC/NDC ideology/philosophies!!! At least not now. They need to go back to the drawing board.

Feeble-minded critics of this administration,in both the opposition and the media, have latched onto this ridiculous idea that, holding this Economic Forum is an indication that the govt is at its wits end. But just see how beautifully, Dr. Botchwey has neutralized and torn torn this warped thinking into shreds!
Just a couple of weeks ago, banks managed by 'smart financial experts' not deliberately misinforming clients about the payment of VAT,on non-traditional services[appraisal/evaluation;payroll & accounting services;data-processing etc] now being rendered within the sector?
And can past administrations -Rawlings(1998) and Kuffour(2001)- also be labelled as "bereft of ideas" as to how to anage the ecnomy? We should all endeavour to get serious in this country!

know your understanding of the alphabet
HIPIC - ( free lunch).
For lack of knowledge,most people in Ghana to this day,misconstrued HIPIC to be as a program which ushered the Country into economic /financial hardships,and disgrace INSTEAD of HIPIC helped Ghana OUT of her financial Woes or indebtedness.
Illiteracy is not the right word to describe the trend then or now as the misinterpreted cut across all academic levels including people who holds PhD,Msc/MA, Bsc/BA, down to the person who never stepped in the Class room before.
The Company I worked with at the time,my boss holds MA degree. I remember he told Creditors that the HIPIC had brought hardship
in the Country,so there was not money.
HIPIC rather bailout Ghana and Coupled with the prudent economic and financial measures policies ,Business, Macro Economics, Economic empowerment, Fiscal Policy ,Balance of Payment,Financial Sector Reform etc for Growth and long term Investment, Ushered Ghana to near lower middle class status.
To me,Hon Osafo Maafo is the best Economist in the Country,if you like. Period !

Ghana was categorized as a HIPC country by the IMF/WB under the Rawlings government, but the government refused to accept the bailout due to their lack of understanding of the benefits of HIPC. I personally think they refused the bailout because it would have prevented them from taking more loans and sharing among themselves as was the order of the day.

President Kuffour's government accepted the HIPC program and implemented the associated prudent financial and economic measures that led us out of indebtedness into a healthy financial/fiscal status.

The statement by Prof. Botchwey should be broken down and it's real meaning sought in the face of information in the public domain about a proposed new economic policy being championed by the Mr.P.V. Obeng led NDPC.
He said the gov't was merely reaching out to 1. achieve consensus. The question is consensus on what, the broken economy and finances of the country, because this fact is trite knowledge and an immutable fact that the Mahama led NDC gov't within a period of just a little over 5 years, have sent the economy and the finances of the country into the pits, with some predicting that the country is already in HIPC status, but would not benefit from the reliefs this status accrues to the country again. On the other hand, could the consensus building be in line with this new economic model, and assuming it is, with the P(NDC) gov't's track record of addressing issues of the economy and the finances of the country, what can be achieved with this new economic model that the P(NDC) gov't of which Prof. Botchwey was at a time a Minister of finance and economic planning could not achieve for the over close to 20 years that they have been in gov't, which at the end of one of their tenure's in 2000, had Ghana in HIPC status? Interestingly, after Ghana had been successfully planted in a lower middle income economic status, within a mind blowing time span of just 8 years, totally unprecedented by the previous NPP gov't, and with the assumption of office of the NDC gov't again, the country is headed towards HIPC, so what consensus are we talking about here?
2. On education by Prof. Botchwey, what is there to be educated about? Is it the causative factors of why the economy and the finances is in the tanks under their watch when competent brains were predicting this state of affairs, 1 or 2 clear years before they hit us as a country, or it's again about this new policy, which if it would have solved anything, Ghana should have been amongst the very developed countries for the almost close to the 3 decades the P(NDC) gov't would have been in power ending 2016.
3. The third point of benefiting from fresh ideas is such that no matter how hard the NDC gov't would want to spin it that, it's not an admission of incompetence, Ghanaians know better. In fact these fresh ideas that the Mahama led NDC gov't seeks to benefit from this forum has already been put in the public domain way before Ghana arrived at this retrogressively oppressive economic quagmire, but what did the Mahama/Amissah Arthur led NDC gov't do about it?
Indeed, a lot of ideas has been put out there and in some cases very clear cut solutions proffered to the myriad of problems bedeviling the economy and the finances of the country.
However incompetence, ineptitude and a gov't whose sole purpose is to loot has made it just impossible for the country to be put on the right footing in terms of addressing the economic and financial quagmire in which the country finds itself. Clearly, the forum would not address any of the issues affecting the country, because the P(NDC) gov't has not demonstrated any ability and confidence whatsoever under their tenure to address the issues, and the only way forward for the country to get out of this messy state of affairs it finds itself under the Mahama/Amissah Arthur led NDC gov't, is to massively vote them out for a much more competent, visionary, capable, mentally sharp and able team to assume the mantle of leadership, to bring about a paradigm shift in the economic and financial fundamentals of the country, which is anything but in the absolute pits. The NDC gov't would need to be voted out, and that is the first step in finding a solution to the collapsed, crisis ridden, abyss bound and bottomless pit headed economy of the country.
