What did Ghanaians buy from the market? Paper-boxed MASHED Tomatoes from Italy, instead of the fresh ones from our farmers. Thereafter, we blamed the Italians for bringing that tomato paste on our markets. Did anyone prevent us from buying fresh tomatoes?
After buying, and filling our stomachs with imported frozen chicken parts, we go out and complain about EU and Brazil feeding us on unhealthy waste.
ARE WE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING AT ALL, in our useless lives

Read all about it. The Euro-zone is set for a direct bank recapitalisation in 2015. Germany Opposes rescuing Ailing banks with EU Money. EU wants to implement Financial TAX on financial trading. The EPA is simply a special trade agreement which offers market access for commodity prices. The existing EPA's were declared illegal because all they did was to set lower tarriffs for goods imported from Europ. There are implications if you sign EPA. In the end it only serves Europe long term interest. No one else. Any issues about investment, procurement, intellectual property and trade-in services are all junk terms. In real terms, Land is being grabbed for your trade. The EU common agricultural policy only harms Africa export by supporting European farmers artificial price support mechanism. Africa does not have pricing support mechanisms for its farmers. Don't sign

This is unfortunate but the sad reality is the Government will sign EPA at some point and that will be a very sad day for west Africans attempt to industrialization.
We will be colonized again by Europe.

The only thing we have so far been able to contribute is "DON'T SIGN".
Why are we not able to express what we want for ourselves?

We want Europeans to leave us alone to industrialize. We want to diversify our exports so that we are not dependent on Europe. By not signing the EPA, we can continue to get tariffs from EU imports which can be used to help those exporters that will lose out from not signing the EPA to move their markets to fast developing Asia, USA, Australia and Canada. We must protect our country from economic slavery.

Don, what do we really have in place for ourselves? For starters, all we heard was that they were going to sign this agreement against all odds. You yourself commented that we exchanged adulterated Palm Oil for tomato juice. All this when we have an abundance of tomatoes? Other African countries that produce rice will not sell because they are being forced to buy rice so the economies of scale in imports and exports are already pitched against each other. This is for food commodities alone. Now, our key bargaining tools are industrial minerals and maybe a few services. Even with those, we don't have much to show for it after multiple successive governments who fritter away everything. I have to ask myself how the nation will grow or develop with the EPA. I don't see anything positive. If on the other hand, you wanted to develop an industry, or develop a joint high scale PFI... we shall sit up. @Kojo - You hit the nail on the head.
