i dont see the Europeans offering the other benefits such as the freedom of movement and insisting on visa free entry into their countries. they are not offering half a trillion for infrastructural development and real assistance in bettering the standard of the people of west Africa . this is a war that will destroy any chances of self reliance and self development . see what they have done to our poultry , fish and beef industry . until we have people who understand the issues and the true hidden agendas and dangers of such a one sided agreement where the benefits are only for the Europeans we should not engage in any such devastating experiments . EPA is being pushed now because they are aware pepeni is an illigimate president , even now the video of the murder of atta mills is being circulted in private circles and one day soon he will be overthrown so he is rushing to put another yoke and burden on the people of Akan. this govt can only borrow and can not even secure investments of 30 billion dollars how do they expect to handle a multitrillion agreement which in reality denies your own people the right to develop their own industry. our industrial base is less than 3% by the way. lets not allow this foolishness to pass , its time for a revolution so we restart the future for our children. we shall never surrender

That is a BIG BIG LIE,this snake oil agreement called EPA is to help countries such as spain,portugal,greece and most of the former eastern european countries surch as poland,bulgaria,hungry,litvia to dump their agriculture produce to west africa so that they could USE US(west africa to tranformed their industries because they can't find market in western european countries the likes of germany,holland,sweden and the rest.All this countries are in recession and they have not yet transformed their economies to be competetive like Germany,UK,Holland,Sweden,etc. So the trick is they are looking for markets in africa to dump their agri-products while killing our industries and strategic industries which Ghana could develop in the near future.This EPA is not here to help us but their own selfish interest.

European Union can not be trusted now that they use tugs to force the people of the Ukraine to accept a similar partnership agreement. If the agreement with Ukraine is so good why should it be implemented by a group of people who stage a coup to overthrow the parliament and president that rejected it. Why should NATO be used to enforce a partnership agreement in the Ukraine. Why should the same EU be against Ukraine trading with Russia?
The above events show that the EPA is not a good agreement and that the people of Africa should reject it.

What strikes me venomously is the issue of sanctions, which to me is a big bluff and aggressive tactic. Oh lets bully them into it.

If ECOWAS decides to not export to EU - tell me who lose most. Yes we're going to lose but the huge loss will be in EU.

ECOWAS attributes to the world largest supply of Cocoa and other raw materials. With Oil on ECOWAS shores EU is striving to use all kinds of aggressive tactics to yield.

After bailing most of its member states from turmoil it is about time EU uses a strategy to recoup some of the funds back to develop and support their member states.

Where is weak and easy to bully - ahhh let do it again to Africa - these guys still haven't woken up from their sleep - Sorry guys think twice.

If Russia decides to cut supply of gas to most of the EU member states the aggression towards the EPA will be momentous - considering they're looking to impose sanctions to Russia.

A huge proportion of ECOWAS resources are processed in EU - put a stop to that supply and most plants will have to shut, huge jobs will be lost - not here, but in Europe.

A year after their own sanctions they will come back and beg for forgiveness. I mean what are they thinking - this is Africa, where everything comes from.

We need to see the transparency in EPA agreement and not sanctions. That is a bullying tactic which indicates yet again supremacy aggression.

Transparency and more transparency and mutual benefits not using intelligence gathered to bully developing countries to build your own.

This has happened for 100's of years and still happening. The game is changing EU.

Lee confirms Ama’s interpretation of declassified documents and, of course, parenthetically, writes to that effect: “While Mahoney was satisfied that popular opinion was running strongly against Nkrumah and the economy of the country was in a precarious state…Nevertheless, he confidently—, as it turned out—predicted that one way or another Nkrumah would be out within a year.” Lee continues: “Revealing the depth of embassy knowledge of the past, Mahoney referred to a recent report which mentioned that the top coup conspirators were scheduled to meet on 10 March at which time they would determine the timing of the coup.”

The question is, why would the West want to overthrow Nkrumah? Recall, that human rights and governance issues may not have constituted the primary motivating factors, since the West, particularly America, staunchly backed the Apartheid Nationalist Government of South Africa, subjected Black America to Jim Crowism, and planted, propped up, or nursed dictatorial regimes around the world during the same period she was planning Nkrumah’s overthrow. It will do this essay some good to put America in the proper historical (and contemporary) context. Dr. Martin Luther King wrote poignantly of America: “I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettoes without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today…my own government…Five years ago [the late John F. Kennedy] said, ‘Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. Increasingly, this is the role our nation has taken’ (See Dr. King’s “A Time to Break Silence”).”

This bold statement on the moral indictment of America’s political and social waywardness is factually Chomskyan and undermines the variables of human rights and governance issues as useful or reliable explanatory causation of the coup. On the other hand, if these issues were the West’s central motivation for pursuing regime change in Ghana, then, in hindsight, as the ‘liberal” behavior of Western “democracy” has shown, Nkrumah should have been the West’s darling, since unconscionable social characters and political reprobates like KA Busia and JB Danquah had chosen to use terrorism, rather than democratic instruments of franchise and due process, to force their way to the corridor of power, an untenable, unacceptable, and unimaginable situation in the West, then and now. It makes a huge difference in terms of political morality when attempts on Nkrumah’s life began to take shape after 1957, the year of the Gold Coast’s independence.
