the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us . Long live the Republic of Akan

It is hard to back the GPHA in the sense that they did not show any capacity or alternative to build the port from own resources. They seem to be hinting that government should go for loans to build the port and then turn it over to the same corrupt and incompetent Ghanaians who have not been able to efficiently run and maintain the industries Kwame Nkrumah built, the GIHOC Group of companies.
Going to borrow and build the port ourselves will lead to no where but suffer the fate of GIHOC, Ghana Railways, STC, Ghana Airways, Black Star Lines, State Hotels, and State Housing Corporation, etc. At most it will become another millstone around our necks, whilst some unscrupulous people, mainly political party appointees, turn it into a cash cow and milk it to death. Take what is going on with workers now, TUC versus government.....same old same old low productivity and yet ever increasing agitations for higher wages. Fact is, we are corrupt and do not run gov't institutions and businesses from a patriotic point of view, we turn them into our own little chiefdoms and milk them to death.
Take the incentives given to Lonrho as the same amount of monies we would have paid as interests on loans had we gone for loans to build the Atuabo Free Port ourselves. Come on, let us see some competition, Tema Free Port versus Atuabo Free Port, one government run versus another privately run and see which one performs better. Get over it, we can't borrow and build, and turn them over to corrupt individuals to milk the system like it is happening at Tema, Takoradi and all points of entry now.

Why the TUC and GPHA find money to built the port and run it as they want? Do they want somebody to invest his/her money for them to run and create wealth fro themselves as they are doing in Tema and Takoradi? Shame on the useless bunch of fools who support the saboteurs and nation wreckers of Ghana. It's no wonder because the UP/NPP went to USA to demonstrate against the US to support Ghana in building the Akosombo Dam and Valco. They want to do that again. Shameless people who never want anything good for the country but their stomach. UP/NPP have never supported anything from anybody except them whereas, they have never put up anything good but what will benefit them. I am surprised how people think in this country. Are you suggesting that parents who have difficulty should give the daughters out for prostitution and their sons to armed robbery gangs? How can we be so aimless? Norway was so poor about 60 years ago. When Norway discovered oil, they decided to do it themselves. They formed STAT OIL and trained their own people and did it n their own terms, all Europe can fall into poverty but not Norway. We never had oil but now we do. We formed GNPC long ago to train people in Oil related courses and had a little of manpower. If now, we have oil and are expanding the Takoradi port. Why on earth do we have to give a foreigner the sole right to handle our oil and gas? Where lies the motivation for such a criminal and suicidal act? Is it true Hanna Tetteh and some people have personal "interest" in this? God will judge us all. People loot this nation and God punishes them and their children but we refuse to see. If GPHA is failing us lets get the right people and met out the right punishment to all found culpable and show leadership. Any body supporting this because of stomach and bank account interest will never live to enjoy such I'll-gotten wealth.

My people of Ghana think very carefully before Ghana turn into another South Africa with whites completely ruling and taken away our resources all in the name of jobs and developments. Where on earth can this agreement be signed to grant an exclusive rights to foreigners for them to have precedent authority over our own local ports authorities in Ghana. Even to the extent that Ghana ports cannot have the rights to build another ports? If every body in Ghana wants developments then they should think about the abilities to look at business ventures proposals by this foreign companies very carefully. The whole underneath principal ideas is for them to own and control our won resources. How can you demand 25 years of exclusive rights and another 25 years extension to export oil and gas from those wells with out any exports fees paid to the state? secondary if the article is right; Ghana ports authority is saying that Takoradi harbour has built in oil and gas terminals that can be used to export the oil and gas so that they will be accountability to the state? How can we as Ghanaians over look all the facts and just only concentrate only on foreigners to create jobs in Ghana? If you want to sign an agreement that will tire the hands of future governments then we have to realize that there is an inside deal. What a white man will not allow in his country can be allowed in Ghana or even in china? where in china can a foreign company owes more than 55% of any shares?. i studied abroad as an engineer and build so many systems for other countries but never have i come across this nonsense. the land at atuabo belongs to my family stool. We the Nzimas are now oppressed by the government since the time of the overthrown of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Now all these current ministers are not from the areas so they can take their bribes from the white man and the foreign companies to sell our heritage to them because if they go out of power they are already rich and they do not care what becomes of Ghana's future. This is what the black man thinks. Only himself and what his family will eat but not the rest of the people of Ghana or the people who over 100 years has occupied that land, died on that land, protected that land for this stupid government to come to meet the land. all the Nzemas and western region will form a formidable force to separate from Ghana. so that the northerns can have the rest of Ghana. if all this stupid exclusive rights were given by Nkrumah to whites at that time the whole lands and natural resources would have been depleted by now
Thank you and God bless you

This story has been raised a number of times over the past couple of months and there are some valuable comments and others which show we have not moved on from the past which i believe holds us back from moving forward. But my take on this is that if the cabinet have approved the agreement then it must be in accordance with the law, i am now lawyer but has anyone checked the claims made by the TUC, does GPHA have the sole authority to plan and develop ports in Ghana what does the law actually say? GPHA have gone silent on their objection are they using the unions as their proxy now? Why would the unions object to such an investment when it creates jobs, do they not want people from Atuabo to become union members? TUC say is violates national policies and strategies can they provide more detail as it would be good to read what the strategies are. If the project can be developed without government guarantees why does GPHA say they need the government to provide funding from the consolidated account which is against the government policy now. as a concerned citizen i would like to be convinced that the claims are real and substantiated otherwise if not let the private sector develop the port as we desperately need it to reduce the congestion that we face at Tema and Takoradi

Mr. Mahama, shame unto you and your recalcitrant cronies. What you are doing is undermining the intelligence and assertiveness of our rights as a sovereign nation not to be subservient to any one. What is it and why are you bent on doing something that every reasonable person thinks its not in the best interest of Ghanaians and the country as a whole?. I hope you haven't forgotten the " Lonrho Agreement" of the days of Afrifa's administration which was abrogated because concerned and reasonable minds were able to see through the true hidden intention of Lonrho which was, to take the country to the cleaners and leave Ghana dry. Lonrho is back to test the water again to see if it can twist you and those who matter in the decision making hands to do what they are hoping for. Unfortunately, it appears you and your insensitive and corruption minded advisers instead of doing what is right for Ghana are overwhelmed and blinded with the bribe money each one of you is going to receive from Lonrho that you do not see the impact your decision to approve the Agreement will have on our country's future developments and interest of foreign investors. It shameful that you are conscienceless prepared to sell the country and your soul to give Lonrho what it wants. That is unpatriotic and characteristic of what we Ghanaians expect of our leaders. Mr. Mahama, don't you have scruples in your fucking head? You are the President and the bucks stop in your office. So, why can't you be assertive and bold and tell your selfish, disgraceful, corrupt,

this memo or report from the former board chairman is disturbing, H.E. President JDM. we cry that our mineral resources are given away for free and in the same breath give a 50-year tax holiday and a monopoly to boot! true, it is sometimes necessary to secure an investor's capital by allowing them some respite from competition, but a lifetime monopoly and a half century tax holiday certainly puts one on inquiry! imagine how much the govt would have to execute its projects and programmes with, if all investors had 50-year tax holidays! my president and my idol, nation first, as Prof Mills - may He rest in Peace - always said, and acted! if there are cogent reasons for the concessions let Gh know and if we must, as was the case in the Fortiz PE-Merbank deal, we will support it! p'se give us the full facts! yours in the name of a better Gh. Note that The Prof did not say a better ndc! he wisely chose the servant who would inherit the rest of the estate after the former, with the right of primogeniture had chosen only one of all that was on offer. P'se let us follow Prof's footsteps and choose Gh 'cos we'll have a better ndc, npp, cpp, ppp, pnp, etc as bonus. finally, this deal, unless there is additional info we do not have, will effectively reduce GPHA's ability to make more money, cripple it after a no. of years and, eventually, make it a candidate for divestiture! You maybe right because Ghana has paid lot of judgement debts and should stop doing the same mistakes all the time.I totally agree with you that the state must be on the safer side this time. The idea is good but there must be more consultation by potential stakeholders.I am very sure the Western people are very interested in developmental projects but the strategy at stake is too high for Mahama to penetrate the Western coast these days because the Chinese loan is being mishandled. The court must decide if the state is doing the right thing to aviod future misunderstanding.By the way,was there any tender at all?Thank you.

The problem with the GPHA's argument is that in one breath they like the Act on our books that grants them monopoly over port handling and in another despise the fact that another entity - even though private- is also being given that same monopoly in a certain part of the country. What is good for the goose has to be good for the gander. I am not one who necessarily believes that state-owned necessarily means that the benefits accrue to the general citizenry. For all indications are that under state monopoly capital, the bourgeoisie of the country collude with international capital under the ruse of state ownership, to further their class interest to the detriment of the masses. If GPHA went for a loan to develop the oil and gas facilities at Takoradi port not expecting any other competitive developments in our economy going forward, then I would say the board members were a pretty short-sighted bunch

Mills saw wisdom and threw the project out because it was not in the very least the national interest. Why do you come and seek to lift it up again? Are you wiser than professor Mills who tutored you? You cannot build a viable Ghanaian state owned by foreigners. It is unacceptable because no country in the world exist that way. There's no Ghanaian interest in that port yet it is intended to serve the transport needs of our crude oil and gas, such a lucrative enterprise and you want Ghana to control nothing in there. There's no strategic thinking to get the best there is for ordinary Ghanaians and we must be alarmed

someone oversee what comes into your

Mahama and his cabinet to approve such a deal.
