.............It seems the NDC gov't is running against time to send Ghana into the pits and it is extremely worrying, very, very worrying that, such a magnitude of ineptness, incompetence, recklessness and corruption can be brought to bear on our governance structures in such a crass manner. This Fortiz/Merchant bank deal deal from all indications is putrid, it stinks to the high heavens and nothing can justify such an atrocious deal, when Ghanaian taxpayers, from all indications are not getting any VALUE FOR MONEY in this stinking deal. Omane Boamah, MD should seek to explain why an equity firm which cannot even boast of the asset base to even acquire a non-financial banking license, should be made to take on this onerous task of not even a merger, but a full complete acquisition of Merchant bank, when Ghanaian taxpayers, have been offered far, far better VALUE FOR MONEY propositions from identifiable bodies with a portfolio of assets eclipsing over 100 billion dollars? It is indeed mindboggling the level of impunity and recklessness which has been unleashed on the affairs on governance by this NDC gov't. Ghana indeed deserves better than this recklessness which is permeating all facets of governance in this country. It's awfully pathetic.

the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us . Long live the Republic of Akan

My sympathy goes to these officers who have had to endure the discomforts that salary delays engender. My beef however, is with the CAPTION used by the writer. I was alarmed on reading the cation, thinking all immigration officers in Ghana have not been for the past (8) months. Why are some buying into this ruse to scold this government for this? This anomaly has been with us since Adam, and if in doubt, ask teachers, nurses, and most newly appointed workers on government pay roll. I agree that the Agency responsible for paying government officers should device a way to minimize the waiting period when newly appointees get on the computerized pay roll. Do we have to politicize everything in this country?

What a disaster managing Ghana has become over the past 6 years.

It is very appalling that the situation in the country is encouraging bribery and corruption. If workers are not paid as it is in in the above case, how do you expect the officers involved to do decent jobs at their various posts? We should trim down or better still eliminate the benefits and allowances received by Parliamentarians since that will go a way to solve the deplorable economic situation in the country. House- helps, garden-boys, drivers, free cars, free petrol, free payment of utility bills, payment of travel allowances, and the like Parliamentarians and a section of the populace enjoy are all waist and a strain on the national economy and must be discouraged. We need actual fiscal discipline all round else I am afraid things will not go well for us economically. Oh poor Ghana, why don't we cut our coat according to our sizes and stop that 'big shot type of living'? Even the United States of America, with all her resources and wealth which are thousand times bigger than ours, do not waste money the way we do. Unless the government and the general populace have a change of heart in our way of living, I am afraid the country will never prosper. Period!
