The black newspaper moi grabbed in Seattle en route to my downtown hotel room was filled with obituaries of middle age black professionals. Of the six or so reported deaths, only one was in his early fifties. The rest range in age from 38-48. Could the fear of doctors be the reason?
A paddy of mine in Accra, I was told, nearly died of stroke during my last trip in 2001. I tried looking for him with the hope of sponsoring him to Canada but to no avail. Ray Smith, a giant of a half-caste sailor died of heart failure. You guys know that moi is one of five surviving guys among some twenty-five sailor paddies of mine. Most died for lack of medical care. Africans have failed their people. Why are you guys allowing your evil booklong tribesmen, turned-politicians, and their families seek medical treatment abroad beats me. Why board a plane to treat kooko/piles abroad when women who give birth are held hostage at hospitals unless they pay up? Ghanaman et Cleo, this NPP, NDC thing go kill wonna before sasabro, I swear.
Went to my family doctor this evening after feeling a slight toe pain. The red-haired female doctor filling in for my family doctor is not a friend of the drug companies. She simply recommended soaking feet in warm water with Epson salt and then rubbing it with baby oil. I was rather thinking of an elevated uric acid, but she told me to go for natural remedies instead of drugs which are hard on my stomach. Soaking the foot Lord Epson worked perfectly well.
The pharmacist attached to the clinic simply pulled all my medical records out of the blue, just by typing my name. He asked me questions about medications and ailments handsome moi has had in over five years. Yes, Massa is still checking on his patients to see how they are doing. Ghanaman: Make we die here, unless you are an Asante who deserves a massive tribal funeral at Kwadaso or Dechemso. Please make wonna rejoice without crying when moi dies, for no man has lived a fuller life than handsome tall moi.

This thing about charging foreigners more than Ghanaians to use recreational facilities like parks, monuments etc is an unfortunate and wrong and smacks of extortion and greed.
In the case of expensive and limited facilities like education, charging foreigners more than Ghanaians is fair and understood, as is done in most countries. However applying this to everything including a simple facility like a park or swimming pool etc, is totally unnecessary.
Only a country with poverty mindedness does this. In the first place, how do park managers check on the nationality of a person? There seems to be this ignorant notion that if a person looks fair or white or speaks with a foreign accent or has a foreign surname, then he or she is not a Ghanaian but that does not prove anything unless you check the person's ID. If you want to check one persons ID, then in the name of fairness, you should check the ID of everyone who enters the park, regardless of looks, accent or name. After all there are also black foreigners who speak vernacular and have foreign surnames. I think the legal system needs to address this situation and come out with clear and fair rules for these facilities.

The days of asessing peoples' nationality by their looks or whether they speak vernacular or not should be scrapped. Either this or the government should do away with differential gate fees altogether.

While I commend your interest in the natural heritage of Mole NP and Ghana as a whole, I believe your article to be inaccurate. Game counts in the park done by wildlife professionals have shown relatively steady to slightly declining levels of species in the park. In addition, I believe that the Dutch government funded a great deal of improvements in the park during the early and mid-2000s. I also have an expat friend who visited Mole during Easter week who was very pleased with the number of wild animals he saw on his game drives, including a great many elephants and a large herd of buffalo. B&FT is a good newspaper and should produce better reporting than this.
