Africa's economy will collapse if what he is suggesting is implemented because African's economy and trade are dependent on those same western economies. He is also forgotten that any such boycott by Africa will be retaliated by the west. Even withdrawal of aid from the west will cause serious damage to African economies and development programmes. That is why Africa must diversify their economies, increase inter African trade as well as wean themselves off western/foreign aid. Until that is done talk of boycott is childish. It's cutting your nose to spite your face.

The interesting irony is that, while there are many important issues to deal with in today's turbulent world, Western leaders, led by Obama have set themselves the priority of promoting sodomy around the world with Obama so shamelessly doing so even at the funeral of Mandela. Meanwhile, Putin and other well meaning leaders have rolled up their sleeves in the service of their people and even annexing parts of sovereign states with impunity , thanks to a weak and feckless American leadership . My brief stay here has brought face to face with a growing social problem facing many Ghanaian female single parents.Many young ladies in their early thirties have had to make time for work and single-handedly caring for growing and very demanding kids without support whatsoever.

This stressful situation has left most of them depressed. A lovely lady close by with two lovely kids about five and two has caught my attention. A nurse by profession, the single parent has to call on my host for assistance any time she is for night duties. And the children are a handful.

As soon as they come in we have to switch the Tv to the cartoons' channel, deal with their numerous fights and taunts. The precocious kids will split anything open and tantrums rage when you try to stop them.

At home, the story would be different. Grand parents, aunties and other family members would lend a hand in such matters. But in an individualistic and consume society, such help is completely absent,exposing these hard working single mothers to intolerably high risk of stress.Why are the women alone left to suffer such fate when children are a product of male and female? Is society and I mean a feminist one the reason for the high rate of divorces, or the Ghanaian men here have simply become too irresponsible and insensitive?

A way out would be to send such children back to Ghana to be placed in good schools; and there are quite a number of them to give respite to their overworked mothers. They would then be brought back during vacation. In doing so the benefits are two-fold; the mothers would have ample time for themselves, while the children will imbibe the Ghanaian culture totally absent in their present setting. In most parts of Africa, polygamy is commonly accepted and nobody bats an eyelid if a man has 1, 3 or 10 wives. Yet, in the UK, USA and other western countries, try that stunt and you'll end up in jail......consenting adults or not!

Is this also not an infringement of those polygamists' human rights? Has Africa ever imposed our beliefs or pursued economic or other such boycotts on the West over this?

How dare them to then hold Africans to ransom over our moral and ethical values? As Mike Ocquaye pointed out, there's now a new world out there - Asia - with whom we can mutually share economic benefits and even the West now depend heavily on that region. We should therefore not allow Western nations to hold us to ransom....ever again!

Better still, Asian countries share similar moral and ethical values as Africans, including views on homosexuality.
