We constantly blame slave trade and colonization but if our forefathers were not fighting each other and did not offer us for sales, we wouldn’t have been enslaved or colonized. What is all these noises about what two consenting adults choose to do? If we are concerned about the youth, let increase the legal age for sex to 25yrs. In the West where gayism is legalized, the number of people in gays relationship is not increasing. They even try to come on TV but people just try to patronize them. Accepting cars, mobile phones and many other things of the west does not mean we should accept everything from them. They also take almost all their raw materials from us and do they accept evrything from us? No. If yes, let them accept polygamy because it is part of our culture and marrying one wife is biblical from the west which is new to us. Don't just argue blindly without critically looking into the issue at stake. Do you know that in the US, gays cannot donate blood? I am an instructor of CPR/First Aid for professional for the Red Cross. If it is acceptable, they will be allowed to donate blood to the public but no. Even if you were gay and have stopped.

This is what is affecting many Africa Christians-we don't understand the scriptures. Note that only Good News (Gospel) can save sinners. Not imprisonment and killings can change a sinner's heart. God has power to kill all gays in a second but He does not? Why? Because He has entrusted the gospel into our hands, which is the power of God for salvation, to change hearts of people to love God. We are making ourselves gods, making our own laws to control sinners. We may ignore God's method and use our own method but we should not think God supports any hatred we have against gays. Simply God is love and every interpretation we give to any part of scripture must conclude in love

Please let us read well Bible well. The West are not withdrawing aids because they support gays. They cannot support a system which look down and hates other human beings.

I always feel sad within me. It appears, since we are not able to do anything with science and Mathematics, we can never understand the Bible too. May God help Africa us

No wonder the continent of Africa is in the state it is and always looking to the rest of the world, primarily the West to feed them.

I see the problem here. It's lack of education that have many of you thinking the way you do. You cannot draw conclusions on your own because of it.

Rather than misunderstanding and hating gays, I think many of you would be better served getting a better education.

Unfortunately, I don't see that happenning, and your best bet to get that education so that you as a country and escape the dark ages, is to study in the West.

But therin lies the problem. You only like the West when you can get something from the West including pretending to be gay in 409 scams to get money from people in the West.

I believe strongly that, if Africa can wean itself from the over-dependence on Foreign/Western Aid, we will be in a better position to ignore their unreasonable demands. The challenge is to our leaders to put the continent and its people first in the management of the wealth accruing from our natural resources. If we can cut out the unbridled corruption, we can mobilize more than adequate resources to better the lot of our people rather than waiting for the crumps that fall from the tables of these westerners who see Africa as a continent always waiting to be exploited. From over 400 years of slavery, where our able bodied men and women were cruelly taken and abused for their slave labour, to the subsequent years of colonization where our natural resources were greedily taken away to develop their nations, to the post colonial imperialist tendencies of continuous exploitation of our resources through the connivance of some greedy African leaders,(Sometimes they're not even given the chance- those who resist them are just removed through coup -detats engineered by the West for regime change and some stooges forced on their countries)- now they are forcing their unnatural acts of barbarism down our throats using the threat of Aid withdrawal and all other forms of political and economic coercion. We can stop this absurdity if we will stop begging them for Aid.

Africans have their own values which are corroborated by nature itself, why can't the West simply respect our value systems? These are the same people who gallivant the globe preaching democracy and respect for Human Rights. If the Majority of African abhors these depraved acts and chose to ostracize them from our societies, why should the West insist that we follow them in their depravity. It is high time we wake up from this America/Europe phobia and stand up for our rights. Its time we take our destinies in our own hands and advocate for fair trade and a just World Economic Order. Its high time we derive the benefits from our Oil and Gold and Diamond resources ourselves and manage these resources prudently enough to ensure descent livelihoods for all our Citizens, Instead of the current scenario where the West scrambles for our resources and grow rich on the backs of our God given heritage, only to turn and throw some pittances at us with some foolish conditions of turning our young men into Homosexuals and our young Women into lesbians to be used to satisfy the filthy appetites. This will never happen in Africa. We may be poor - Thanks to the Wests' unbridled greed and exploitation as well as the foolishness of some of our leaders, but we will hold our heads up in dignity and defend our value systems which are in line with God and natures' dictates. Long live Africa, Long live Sanity, Long live the Age old Institution of Marriage.

Given that why dont our so called thinkers on the issue find ways to offer treatment for the illness? afterall we do not lock up other sufferers of psychotic diseases in jail but try in our inefficient ways to provide care. It is apparent that all western leaders are have conspired to use the World Organizations (UN, IMF, World Bank, etc) to ensure that we accept this abnormal lifestyle. Even though all the rich people in the West, including business men, entertainment folks, politicians are all guys and control the world's wealth, we must do all that we can to withstand the pressure from them.
Does the UN Charter authorize the organization to impose homosexuality on countries around the world?

And to suggest gays need psycohotic or any other treatment flies in the face of reality that gay people do not chose to be gay. It is who they are.

Now, every culture is entitled to believe what they want to believe, but what they are not entitled to when it comes to gay people is making up lies to justify their homophobia.

I hate to ruin the party here, but let me tell you all who have a problem with gays: They exist in all cultures including Ghana and other African countries.

The only reason you may think it's alien to your culture is because of the attitutes you experess towards gay people and those who are gay amongst you keep their feelings to themselves for fear of persecution. But it DOES not absolve who they are or that gays exists in Africa without Western influences as is proclaimed.

I agree with every Western country that pulls their money out of any African country that persecutes gays. If you wish to discriminate against gay people, then do it without western aid.

I have met many gay Africans. Unfortunately, they are unable to be themselves in their place of birth, and only after moving away are they able to live their lives in truth. I feel sorry for any gay living among people with such ignorant thinking.

No one can make you gay as much as no one can make you straight. People are who they are. If you believe that another person can make you gay, try it as a straight person and tell me what happens. I will assure you that you will remain straight because that is not your nature.

One last thing, right now there are gays in Ghana who know in their heart and souls that is who they are, but because of societys' thinking they cannot be otherwise. And I would tell that the majority of those people have never set foot in the West and had an experiene with a gay/lebian person in the West.

I hope one day that people in Africa, Ghana included would come into the 21st century and accept some fundamental facts about human nature and stop the ignorance. And while you are at it, rid your selves of tribalism as well.

Now, I don't expect many of you to agree with me, but I hope I have given you something to think about.

I know if a Christian group (Exodus) in the USA that was trying to cure people who were and they have come back to say that whatever they were doing did not produce the result they wanted. What Uganda did in passing a law such as this is essentially misleading and at best wrong. The law can be used to imprison anybody you do not like, both political and otherwise. All you needed was to say the person is a homosexual and the whole community can turn against that individual. It is a dangerous law and retrogressive. It takes Africa back into the dark ages. You remember the woman who was accused of adultery in the Bible? That is the kind of law or attitude we have when we Africans create such kinds of laws. Our discourse about this topic is filled with disparaging comments and self-righteous babble.

I wish I know your country of origin or better still if you are of African descent? Your piece seems to indicate you are definitely not of African descent and that would be very good. However if not, I would feel really sorry for you to have the genes of such backward people flowing through you, you certainly don't deserve such a curse. The good news though is that finally some of us here (gays and lesbians) have finally evolved to become mentally unchained from our negative mindset. From your piece, anyone who is opposed to the legalization of the activities of gays and lesbians ( mind you this doesn't mean violence against them) is uneducated and certainly can't reason and make any analytical decision or execute any high level thought process. Conversely, in your opinion any person who is a gay or lesbian is necessarily educated and enlightened.

Am a primitive monkey who still lives on trees and I seriously take offence to the uneducated ones here who insult my kind by comparing us to gays and lesbians. My reason is simple, we are primitive and as such none of my kind is enlightened enough to be gay or lesbian. In short we just don't do that, it's not in our genes yet. My advice to you is, if possible kindly facilitate the removal of the enlightened ones amongst us to the civilized world where they would be accepted. Embarrassed by the incredibly bad smell, the couple decided to leave the bag on the hood of the car to be thrown in a dumpster as opposed to a mall trash can. A couple of hours later when the family was returning to the car, they saw an old, beat up pick-up stop at their car. A young man jumped out and hurriedly threw the Dillard's bag into the cab. People do not choose to be gay. If so, why don't you try it and let us know if you were turned gay successfully if you sexual orientation was that of a heterosexual to begin.

My culture is also better in that you do not have people running around thinking it's ok to rape children in some tribalistic thinking. This is not to suggest that child rape does not occur, but when it does, it is an aberation in my culture, not the epidemic like it is in Ghana.

What may be paradoxical is that the same Mike Oquaye who told us at Legon that Communism is against human nature, now has no qualms supporting the hateful persecution of gays' and lesbians' right to freedom and justice (just like rights enjoyed by heterosexuals). What is the scientific basis for Mike Oquaye's path against his fellow humans who happen to be gays and lesbians. Not too long ago, twins were murdered because some misguided humans believed it was sacrilegious for a human to have anything other than one child at a time. We used to mock and murder albinos because their skin pigmentation, and their eye problems "represented something from the devil". Science and today's common sense has taught us that these were at best, misguided beliefs not rooted in anything factual. They were based on ignorance, hate and fear. It’s not like a virus or infection. You either are or your not. I have several friends who are gay, yet I am straight. Being around them hasn’t made me gay. Nor do they try to force for to be gay. I accept them for being themselves.

As for “diaper-wearing”, your talking about a whole other group entirely called AB’s (Adult Babies). And before you bash AB’s, you should do your research on the facts. Although AB’s are people who enjoy dressing and role playing as babies and toddlers. It’s a way to relax, distress and have fun in the privacy of our homes.

And before you accuse AB’s of recruiting teens like you say about gays, again, get your facts straight. I became a adult baby when I was 13 years old. 6 years before I got my first computer with internet access. It wasn’t till I got my computer that I found there were others like myself. Which proves that AB’s are not corrupted teens, but are born that way. Just as those who are gay are born that way. And it’s not a malfunction. And it’s true that there are AB’s who are gay. But after all, there are those who are gay in every community. And there is nothing wrong with that.

People need to stop attacking those who they don’t understand. Instead of talking trash and assuming things, why don’t you visit gay/lesbian and adult baby sites and learn what it’s all about before talking trash about something you clearly don’t understand. Nothing that was said in that article is true. It’s all assumptions and guesses of what they THINK are true facts.
