We are being forced to accept that $10 million of the $19 million released for the 2010 World Cup campaign was returned to government chest. The question is this: If we realised that the initial budget for the 2010 world cup was overstated by a good 100%, why did the people who did the budget for the 2014 campaign not learn from that amd propose a more reasonable budget? Is this $10 million they claimed to have returned not the same as the money the black stars brought in for participating in the competition?
We were also briefed that the then minister of education justified including her house help, cook, driver and bodyguard in her entourage, and fed them all on part of the $19 million. This time, the current minister has already pencilled in his own brother, and is now probably waiting to include his guide dog as well!

Are Ghanaians aware that the local Black Stars still have their bonuses unsettled.this team brought home silver medals and their budget was tight.

Has featured very prominently in all the last 3 WC appearances this country has made! I can say without fear of contradiction that this official is the brainchild of all the corruption we have witnesse since 2006. He and his cabal run to FIFA to complain when theMills administration tried to reign in the corrupt officials.
I`ll recommend the provisional budget be slashed in half so that these 'crooks will be forced to cut out the 'pork'. The technical staff should be instructed to tell any player who feels they can`t play for the nation for less than the $100k figure they are throwing around, cann forget about the 2014 WC tournament.
It should be as simple as that!
And as to why this budgeting exercise has been cloaked in secrecy, and intentionally delayed till now[appox 90 days the start of the games],should raise a lot of eyebrows. And how come very little has been said about corporate sponsorship thus far? I have a feeling it is all part of the 'grand scheme' to force the govt into footing this inflated budget. As a matter of fact, the BS are racking up humongous bills as we speak, with all those useless, but very expensive pre-tournament 'friendlies',already in the cards. I don`t understand why Pres. Mahama allows himself to be boxed in all the time when he could have laid down the marker?
We all know his detractors are waiting on the sidelines ready to pounch on him if things go wrong. He should therefore be bold and make a strong case for forcing the team, like everybody else, to get by with a reduced budget like other teams around the globe are doing!

It seems football looks more important and lucrative than any other programme by succeeding Governments except the first Republic led by Dr Nkrumah.THE FIRST PRESIDENT HAD INTEREST IN FOOTBALL BUT WAS VERY CAREFUL IN HANDLING IT IN TERMS OF THE WORLD CUP WHICH HE FOUND TO BE UNNECESSARILY EXPENSIVE VIS AVIS THE COUNTRYS INTERNAL PROGRAMMES SUCH AS SCHOOLS; HEALTH CARE; MASS EDUCATION PROGRAMMES; AND OTHERS WHICH HAD DIRECT EFFECT ON THE CITIZENRY:NOW THE GHANA FOOTBAL HAS BEEN TAINTED WITH POLITIICS WHICH IS BEEN USED AS A PROPADANDA TOOL TO WIN THE CONFIDENCE OF THE ELECTORATES; AND THE PARTY IN POWER WHICH VOTES HUGE SUMS OF MONEY FOR THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION IS LIKELY TO BE THE BEST FRIEND OF THE POPULACE:TO MY MIND THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE SINCE THE GOVERNMENT IN POWER HAS BEEN SINGING THE SONG OF NO MONEY; NO MONEY FOR SOME IMPORTANT ISSUES THAN FOOTBALL:
