I think he, subconsciously, on the fly, for self-glorification, applied the theory of PROBABILITY, and concluded that the LIKELIHOOD of all 5 African teams reaching the last 4 is ZERO, and thus, in his mind, allowed for a minimum of 1 and and a maximum of 4.
Or he was just being emotional and forgot that his calculus of 4 places for 5 teams was mathematically tautological.

I think Ghana and Nigeria (and to some extent, Algeria) have enough capacity to make an impact in Brazil.
Ghana to me has a better team now than 2010. Even though a few of the key players like Muntari, Essien and Gyan can be said to be aging, there is abundant youth dynamism in the team to make the experiences of the these aging ones count. All that is needed now is good preparations.
Concerning Nigeria, Keshie has greatly transformed the team so much and they are looking like their dream team of 1994. They can go far.
Algeria also has young enterprising players and with their usual European style of play, can make it with a little luck.
I am not expecting much from Cote d'Ivoire even though they are FIFA's highest ranked African team. It is obvious they had had far better teams in 2006 and 2010 with Drogba at his magical best yet they could not go far. I think they lack proper fighting spirit unlike Ghana. I pray they prove me wrong.
As for Cameroon, I think they have qualified by default rather than merit. Had FIFA not been that wicked towards Cape Verde to take 3 points from them to enable a very weak Tunisia qualify to meet Cameroon in the final elimination, Cameroon would not have been there. So I'm not expecting much from them.

With regards to Essien, one has to be mindful of the fact that he has not played too many games fro Chelsea before his transfer to AC Milan. His match fitness is not great at the minute. The more games he plays, the better he will become. Thank God he is playing regularly now and that can only be good both for Essien and for Ghana as we need a strong and match fit Essien to marshal our midfield in Brazil. We can get to the semi finals, but we must improve on our performance against Montenegro big time to have any chance of even getting out of our group in the first place. We need to switch on and quickly as June is just around the corner.

Personally, if history is anything to go by, ten I think the Black Stars will do well. Prior to Germany 2006, the black stars were so poor that a minor Zimbabwe with the likes of Benjani beat us with Sammy Adjei our best goatee at the time in Gol. this shook us and massive changes took place in b4 D World Cup N we were able to survive the group of death beating USA N Cezh republic only loosing to eventual winners Italy in the group stage by our own
doing. I will say Kwesi Appiah to give Boakye-Yiadom, Assifua, Frank Acheampong and Baba all of U20 fame a place on the plane to Brazil as they are the future N it starts now. These boys R matured enough and can do well in Brazil. Let's not forget that it was Adiyah's goal that Suarez saved with his hands. He was an U20 top scorer who was given the chance N despite missing his penalty, his clear headed goal was painfully saved on the line by a thief who stole our semi final place from our noses. Clifford Aboagye is also another intelligent player who can creat goals for the team. Lastly, I will beg Asamoah Gyan to see himself as D 1st African Captain to lift D trophy and not the 1st African top scorer so must do away with Selfishness N pass D ball to his mate in a better position to score 4 if we get there, he is D 1 to lift D trophy N have his face in world history till Jesus comes back. Gyan should give D exact pass he gave to Prince to score Egypt. It's a Team sport. Good luck Ghana N God bless us all. My opinion please
