I am certain Ghana is on the verge of going bankrupt with this government. The ordinary citizens are working hard to pull the country together and the leaders are tearing mother Ghana apart with their corruption. Then you get ignorant and shortsighted lefties with-no-where-to-go supporting them, and defending their actions.

Ghanaians must rise up to oppose the government's waste of our resources just to win election 2016. In this situation in which we find ourselves today, it would even to be unwise for Nana Addo/NPP to talk about free SHS if he is in power today. Two hundred SHS are not the nation's priority even though building 200 SHS is good. How can we look on to see Mahama waste our little resources on 200 SHS while we all know that he cannot effectively complete this project. We have no water , electricity, roads, food, and good healthcare (basic amenities. We have not been able to bring quality to our existing SHS why do we continue building more low quality SHS? Only God knows the type of SHS Mahama is going to put up. I learned in this article that they are waiting for support from the World Bank Which means, the they have not even received a dollar from the World Bank but they are cutting sod just in the name of politics and propaganda. Mahama would not rush to cut sod had it not been pressure Ghanaians have recently put on him asking him to fulfil his numerous promises. He knows the nation cannot afford this project at this time, but for face saving and propaganda, he rushes to cut the sod which he is only good at. My worry is, we should not sit down for him to waste the little resources only to complain tomorrow. If the country has money, he should put in proper use. He should try tyo improve upon the existing schools, improve upon water supply, elctricity, etc. These are all important sectors when improved will also shoot up his credibility. The cabinet should act/perform.

This is the true beginning of Ghana, the independent Ghana I dearly wish to help develop. The Country's economy is not beyond repair, this is the moment I have been waiting for all my life.
This is the moment Ghanaian leaders will wake-up to the realities of life, that nothing in this world is free. Please, be informed that Ghana's success and failure is in our own hands. If you can show me a rich beggar in your neighborhood, then you can assure me that Ghana expect to become rich with her bowl in her hands going round begging from country to country.
If you live your life by indefinitely expecting free handouts, you will continually live in complacency and fail to challenge yourself to your true potential.
Ghana, in reality, doesn't need those peanuts from her everlasting enemies that have appeared in the so-called "Development Partners" title. At least, now you know you are on your own, this is time for independent critical thinking. The solutions are in the mind, think!

After the elections Fiifi Kwetey came out to tell the whole world the NDC government had to do what it had to do to retain power. It meant they had to dip their hands into the consolidated funds, which is part of the donors money, for their election campaign. They had to bribe people, buy 10 brand new Toyota Land cruisers for the 10 regional house of chiefs, cars for university graduates, and distributed monies to people in the various constituencies like distributing donuts. That is the result we are all witnessing. When Dr. Bawumia mentioned this he was called all sorts of names by Fifi Kwetey who had not written any paper on the Ghanaian economy, yet he is at the presidency in change of the economy. Let him come out now to tell us how to convince the donors to release the $700,000,000.00. Naka gbe me.

Ghana Government thinks donors are very stupid and did not know what to do with they tax payers money.Donors has realise that money given to NDC government for development purpose were channel in to their personnal accounts to enrich themselves and they the donor did not have the money the president and his ministers accumulated.According to Forbes President Mahama 1 year in office has US$900million not include the US$170million deposite at Swiss privatbank and Afriyie Ankrah has US$112million less than a year as sports minister while does donors did not have such money in their accounts. What peace off donors is that how could president Mahama not punish GRA C.E.O for using his own will without informing the president and law makers for approval and dole out tax payers money of GHC 175 million for work not done and still C.E.O GRA.Report donors receive from their representatives and world bank in Ghana is not good news that is the result of the holdup.

Normally the Govt guarantee for Loans to Public Institutions is a fallback arrangement. Do the cashflow and repayment projections confirm viability without social interventions from Govt on pricing? If yes an argument could be made to exclude this. Kindly explain this further Mr Minister. You are doing the best that you can in the circumstance. One important thing Mr Terkper forgot to mention is the gross incompetent mismanagement, ubiquotous massive corruption spearded by people at the top. How can we justify ordinary people going into politics and within a year or two owning huge assets like plush houses, shopping malls fleet of petrol filling stations etc etc, when all or most of these people have not done any proper work in their lives or do not own businesses before.
The truth of the matter is that our donors can only see us as "stupid people" with a rich land, weather and resources second to none in the world, how can we be a poor nation?
Ghana has more resources and better climate than most the countries who act as our donors, so the missing variable in the equation is that we have been ruled by idiots who cannot see beyond their noses.
Even today when you go to many villages in Ghana you would find a number of people with motor cycles, cars etc etc which are all freebies given to them by govt during the election campaign time, where did that money come from?
We have created a country that everyone is after benefits and no one including the govt is interested in creation of wealth.
We have only one economic policy, tax the few smart and hardworking people who have created businesses and beg foreigners for everything frommoney to second-hand clothing.
How much does Ghana govt spend on fuel a day? How many govt vehicles are abused during the weekend involved in funerals , construction. Why should we have televisions in most offices or govt departments where most workers spend their time not working but watching Films or soaps?
Mr Terkper the solution to your financial holes can easily be filled only and only if, you and your ilk would be honest, sacrifice, ready and most important of all defer from graft, and stop chasing benefits when you tell the masses to give up their benefits and be prepared to lead this rich country - the true God's natural heaven.

Donor countries are using tough love to wean our beloved Great Ghana off budgetary support.
I believe this is long over due.
Once upon a time, Ghana was a donor country. I wonder if any of our leaders, -- past and present -- can tell what time it was.
It is disheartening to see our Finance Minister lamenting over harm that the budget shortfalls have been doing to the running of the country's finances.
Our government has failed to draw wisdom from the old adage that says: nobody bases his or her financial plans on money that is in another person's pocket.
We cannot foot our own annual budget,
yet we want the world to stop treating us like a poor nation.
We want the world to give the respect of a middle-class country, -- even though we cannot pay our own way.
How phony can we get!
With all due respect, I consider it insanity for our leaders to consider our country a middle class nation.
We should have remained an HIPC.
A high GDP growth that does not produce jobs is hollow and meaningless.
Under sound economic principles,
real growth is driven by consumer spending.
If our people don't jobs, they cannot spend to grow the economy symmetrically.
With such a chronic high unemployment rate our leaders cannot make the claim that, the high growth they have been touting all these years has been consumer driven.
We have to face reality. Our economy is in the gutters. It has been there for a very long time. I would not blame it on anybody.
Obviously the masses of our country have not been lucky enough to have leaders, who know how to run their economic affairs in a way that would bring them wealth and dignity.
What we need going forward is to start from basics, -- depending on sound economic principles.
We don't have the luxury to be playing politics with the people's livelihood. When we mess up the economy, we are direct messing up the lives if our people. This is not right.
How pathetic can it get for a nation that calls itself a middle class nation but, is heavily dependent on foreign aid for its annual budget.
This is unacceptable.
May Lord Almighty continue to bless our beloved Great Ghana:
Amen!!!

One crucial lesson the Mahama Govt should have learnt is that the IMF plays into local Politics to the point that it applies inflexibility towards Gov'ts they favor less ideologically.
It is therefore most important to leave no stone unturned to cover all likely scenarios when negotiating with it, so that it does not shock the Govt with any hidden constraints.
That financial entity used the same tactics to deny Nkrumah's Govt financial assistance it has agreed earlier to make available when that Govt most needed it. That is why Nkrumah did not proceed on his Economic plans in piece meal fashion, only to run out of funds before major projects completed.
While the World Bank and IMF would act to swiftly show how sincere they are to assist all Gov'ts that conform to certain basic conditions, any significant attitude a Govt shows to antagonize their preferred entities in a Nation's Political contest draws their quiet revision of contracts to apply the suggested hidden constraints.
This has been a big reason for which many people around the Globe believe those Institutions still capriciously manipulate local Politics in favor of particular sides of a Nation's Politics. Some even believe the favored sides specifically request those financial Institutions to do exactly those restrictive things to the disliked Regime to help its failure and open the chances for their its favored opponents.
Whether we should believe in this behavior of the IMF or not it is always the best option to build our own developmental funds with savings, increased productivity for exports, and good management and depend on those entities the least, if ever.
We should not look forward to their aid for financing our projects let alone routine expenditures. When Argentina rejected their assistance amidst her colossal financial debacle a few years back, she not only survived but emerged surprisingly successful in overcoming that ominous Economic times.
We can do similarly, now, when we are not yet in as much terrible state as Argentina was to reap greater success and proud self-reliance.
