This will be one of the greatest failure of a great African country, if Ghana accepts this GMO.
The west (specifically America) created HIV AIDS and put them into the food and drug aid they give Africans. Through this we lose a huge sum of money to them. Additionally, it is a way to control our population growth because the white race will extinct earlier than expected.
These are some consequences of the GMO.
1. Hunger and Financial loss: We have to buy the foods and seeds from the west. We also have to pay for the patent. Therefore, we will depend on them for our food as we lose money in purchases.
2. Controlling our growth: They can inject bacterial and viruses in these foods in order to make many Africans sterile or cause deformities in our future generation.
3. Destruction of our farmers' Ingenuity: It is Africa that started agriculture. Africans went to Europe, America and other parts of the world to teach others how to cultivate food. Now, if you accept this GMO thing, you will destroy the ingenuity of our people.
Therefore, if we must go GMO, it is up to us to identify areas that need GMO and do it by ourselves to keep our patent, save our money and our people. Our scientists in Ghana can do it right here in Ghana.
Please, African leaders open your eyes to realize that it is called RACE. And, don't ask or depend on your competitor on how to participate in the game.
If you think they have better strategy, learn their strategies and apply it to your context to improve your strategy. They you will draw with them or even win the race.
China did the same, and the west is now kneeling down before them.

Because Mahama is now behaving like a drowning man, he would hold on to the last straw to survive. He has the tendency to fall for any foreign idea including GM products and homosexuality in his desperate attempt to seek money to implement his campaign promises. Now that he and Mills have succeeded in bringing the economy to its knees, what else is he not capable of doing to harm Ghanaians? Demonstrate to let him feel hot in his air-conditioned room. Cow dung Mahama.

Do not support POLITICAL PARTIES like you support HEARTS or KOTOKO. They are a GROUP OF PEOPLE who claim they can manage AFFAIRS OF THE STATE for you. You pay them for doing that. You must therefore USE YOUR HEAD and NOT YOUR EMOTIONS to ASSESS THEIR PERFORMANCE. By so doing, Their WORK can be FAIRLY ASSESSED. If they do A GOOD JOB, you RETAIN them. If they DON'T you KICK THEM OUT, and if they are found to have COMMITED A CRIME, you PROSECUTE THEM. This is the ONLY WAY our COUNTRY can PROGRESS. Let us also RESPECT and EMBRACE EVERY TRIBE in GHANA; we are STRONGER by so doing. We HAVE everything it takes to MAKE OUR LIVES BETTER. COMMITMENT, HARD WORK and SELFLESSNESS can help us do it. BE FAITHFUL and LOYAL to GHANA. IT is the only place you can be respected and be recognized as a HUMAN BEING, so why can't we MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE for us. I WISH ALL CITIZENS OF GHANA WELL. LONG LIVE GHANA

GMO will bring no good to Ghanaians but harm. Why do you want to feed your people with genetically modified organisms which generally boost production but leave behind toxins in the products causing harm to human body system and is now rejected by the Americans and the Europeans who created the whole idea. They now feed on 365 labelled non -GMO and organic foods which has not been grown with pesticides or any other chemicals. Ghanaians must research and become aware of the future consequences of this GMO's.

I think as a nation, we should try to answer the million dollar question, first! Why is the idea of GMO not supported worldwide, especially in Europe, where scientific knowledge/research in the particular matter is quite high? Why it that crops from natural sources are much more expensive compared to similar GMO products, on shelves of supermarkets in Europe, i.e. the UK? Certainly, there are good reasons for placing higher value on the natural/non GMO crops/products.
I believe that the problem of food security in Ghana is not about low production but issues pertaining to general management of the production, distribution/sales and storage. Anyone who is aware of periods of bumper harvests (For an example; the cases of the tomatoes farmers of Agotime-Ziope District, of the Volta Region and also in the Brong Ahafo and Upper West Regions, etc. where crops got rotten for lack of suitable market and proper scientific means of storage), would understand the woes of the typical farmer and why there is probably no incentive to produce more food the subsequent farming seasons.
After all; what is the point of going GMO if all the progressive increase in food production would be left to waste/rot!
Government must therefore critically examine models of other countries and provide the necessary remedies to address the stated shortfalls to ensure the necessary food security.
I believe that there are ready markets out there for crops and other products from natural sources. We must therefore carve a niche for ourselves in such markets, by encouraging our current practice of natural means of production; instead of shooting ourselves in the foot by going the way of GMO, which many countries, especially in Europe are trying vigorously to avoid like plague.

Mr. Mahama, why do you continue to waste your time and energy on stupid policies that are not in the best interest of Ghanaians?.
Your push to introduce genetically modified tomatoes for Ghanaians consumption is not healthy for Ghanaians. I think you are following things foreign blindly. The fact that genetically modified tomatoes are consumed in America, does not mean we Ghanaians should eat the same kind of tomatoes in Ghana. We know, we have abundance of pure and naturally grown farm produce like tomatoes in our markets. Mr. Mahama. don't act ignorantly, you know that there's no substitute to eating healthy and for you to think that genetically and chemically modified farm produce is better than naturally grown and fresh farm produce shows your lack of knowledge about things that constitute healthy eating.
My common sense advice to you is that, if the state chefs who prepare your food do use chemically engineered farm produce, you'll do yourself good by asking them to use only non-chemically engineered produce.
It is sad that most African leaders are fond of blindly copying certain policies that are un-African culture and behaviors to Africa.

Well someone may say that we're eating them already so there is no need.Of course we're eating them without a choice because Monsanto doesn't want it to be labelled I live in US and it came to a point that if I eat some certain products they make my belly big if I stay away my belly goes down so I stop eating meat, chicken and you name it. It was later that I learned that they're all GMO fed.Now I don't eat anything that's not organic and I'm more healthier than ever. I use to exercise everyday without loosing weight, since I started with organic I'm loosing weight without exercise. I was having a lot of health issues like allergies, breathing ulcer, shortness of breath, big belly as if I'm seven months pregnant and now I'm not on any drugs. Why we have to adopt something that's going to affect our health. If GMO is good why Americans are running away from it.Even three weeks ago General Mills announced that they're not going to use GMO corn for their cereals anymore. C'mon guys we have to do this for ourselves and for the future generation to come. We're dying from cancer because of fertilizer from the same Monsanto. Is time to fight for our righst so please get up, stand up and fight for your rights. Is not too late to say no to GMO.
