Dont condemn churches just because they take tithes and offerings, it is clearly stated in the BIBLE, and to the best of my knowledge, no one forces to pay them, u do so by conviction and understand, unlike TAXES, for which u would be jailed if u fail. So of the two who should be held more accountable, PASTORS or POLITICIANS? Religion is Religion, no one forces u to believe or join one. Its your choice, but if u are out of it and dont believe in the way they do things, just stay out. However allow the ones who believe in its power thereof to be.

The problems of the world are solved by education and by education i do not mean formal school only.Not every one who sat in economics class is able to manage their finances so will it be that not every one listening to a preacher be able to make the best out of life. Humans react differently to education. Some use it some dont. Listening to a preacher is education just like economics class but of a different and higher nature. So your assumption of no God is preferred to evolution theory which is changing with every new scientist? Hmmmm you are smart. Yes all the tribes of Akan are fingers on the same hands and God has ordained we remain united so our strength and light will be visible throughout the whole world and universe , our time has come . everyday its becoming clearer and clearer to all children of Akan that we must prepare mentally for a battle of freedom . they come with tricks that say we must take a non Akan as our leader because its nice ? do they not think that out of 30 million Akans we can not find sensible down to earth leaders and warriors to lead our own people to our own destiny? a govt of the people and by the people is what the 21st century democracy is all about . let them continue to play with the consensus and other figures that justify their fantasy and enable them to marginalize the participation of the Akan majority in the Affairs of their own land , to marginalize us thus preventing us to afford a better standard for our people . The had of God has given them pestilence after pestilence but they refuse to let our people go , soon they will be swept away like chaff in the hurricane of fury . Long live the republic of Akan and don't you forget it as now the Fanti speakers, Twi speakers, Ashantis and other tribes of Akan are now one .

If you are saying "publicly ridiculing" public servants when they err is the best form of deterrent, then we have a long way to go.

Do you think that the way Woyome was ridiculed for fraudulently stealing tens of millions of dollars by false pretenses will stop the next confidence trickster from stealing from our vaults? We all made fun of that situation with the "Woyomization, Woyomenomics" jokes. Was that good enough?

We had a very serious case of conflict of interest with the Bui Project where a senior board member was also doubling as the sole supplier of the building blocks for such a major project, and we all trivialized the whole situation with the all too familiar "Mosquito blocks" joke.

We had a serious situation with power supply, that adversely affected a lot of industries, leading some to even cut back on production, yet we all made fun of the situation with the "me ma mu dumsorr oh" jokes.

Unless we start getting serious as a nation, we'll keep marking time. I believe that is the crux of Mensah's statement. Let's not trivialize it.

TAKE THE CASE OF THE DORMAA CHIEF ISSUING A 'FATWA' TO BAN A MEDICAL OFFICER FROM TOWN. IN REAL LIFE, THE CHIEF IS A JUDGE OF THE COURT.

This guy practices law not because he believes in justice for all, but he is in there to bend/intepret the law in his favor or in the favor of crooked people like him who pay him bribe/kickbacks.

We do have so many STOMACH-LEADERS in the country, including the President.

Just take a critical review of the Auditor General's reports 1993 to date, the rape of the nation by civil servants and politicians and yet it is business as usual. What improvement impact has the church brought to that locality to be frank. People who congregate in that church at least create rubbish way in and out, what investment or support has been given to government to improve the area? People laugh because Otabil himself lives within filth for 20yrs and allude to that as problem for government whereas he makes millions of dollars without taxes or care for the poor in society.

Has it ever ocurred to this loudmouth of a rotten pastor that Ghanaians are using what he calls as 'jokes' to help them get through the difficulty of living day to day in Ghana, which the politicians and the likes of himself have made the economy a hell on earth to live and survive in?

Ghanaians are just switching into their 'survival mode' just to stay alive. Otabil talks like he has all the answers to Ghana's problems. He lives in his mansions, living it high and mighty while a lot of the ordinary Ghanaians go hungry with some resorting to armed robbery in order to survive.
These are some of the vices he should be talking about.The reasons why people are going hungry, the root causes of armed robbery and how these can be reduced, if not completely eliminated. "Dr." Otabil you are very dumb if you are trying tell Ghanaians that you don't know why they make"jokes" of everything these days.

You very well know the reasons can be attributed to the harsh economic conditions they find themselves in under very corrupt politicians and swindling pastors like yourself. So before you mount the pulpit and start spouting off to make Ghanaians feel guilty, take a look at yourself and the political cohorts of yours in the mirror? You will see why Ghanaians think you are all clowns and jokesters.

Please give me a break. I am tired of the likes of you pontificating about everything under the sun. You criticise politicians etc. but ask yourself is it right to collect money free from your congregation for years without paying any tax and then establish a business enterprise with that money. If your church is a charitable organisation then stop charging fees like the other institutions because many of those entrepreneurs had to take expensive loans. If you are genuine I would have expected your church to build the university for the youth in your charge or give it to the state rather than run it like a profit making organisation. Ghanaians have heard about Christ, why don't you take the preaching to Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Pakistan etc. please show your scars like Christ said. Some of us have heard enough of this self righteousness. I hope a day will come when you will say your church building is already paid for and you have reserves in your bank so no collection for sometime. Enough is enough. Stop the pontificating.

The biggest joke in this country is that it is overrun with charlatan preachers/spiritual "leaders" like this Otabil clown. In any sane society, no one would pay heed to this fool carping about what ails our country. Without the succor provided him by those who only see salvation from our perennial problems by suspending their thinking powers and resorting to religion, Otabil would have no platform. He is simply a beneficiary of the lack of seriousness in Ghana, and he should be thankful for it; instead of biting the hand that feeds him and his useless church.

In our history as Ghanaians we have and continue to have many critical thinkers in the sciences , arts , humanities industry etc but who we do not show honour or respect because they are not in the public eye or shouting from the roof tops!
our real strength as a country especially in the arena of critical thinking lies in the many humble ones hidden from the adoration and accolades of the public.
critical thinking that solves problems is what we need
choked gutters , drowning in sewage? we need real critical thinkers to solve these and not mere big mouths.
monetary and fiscal policy issues ...we need real critical THINKERS TO SOLVE THESE AND NOT PRAYERS
high infant and maternal mortality , poor health care delivery we need critical thinkers to solve these and not loud mouths and braggarts

In case he does not know, people of his ilk make others to hate Christianity because they associate it with hypocrisy because they will reason that if the religion is not a hypocritical religion, then why would its leading lights play the hypocrite at the least opportunity?

Otabil never made any negative comments when President Kuffour turned himself into a clown by dishing out national awards as if he was Emperor Bocassa and even awarded himself. This was one of the biggest living jokes in Ghana but Otabil was as silent as a dumb person, but now that it is NDC, he is criticing politicians instead of preaching his Bible for salvation of souls. Secondly, does any one remember the lie Otabil told Ghanaians that his voice had been doctored by the NDC campaign team when they juxtaposed his voice with that of Nana Akuffo Addo's all-die-be-die statement? When Otabil told this lie in aid of Akuffo Addo, Kwesi Pratt challenged him to produce the authentic tape to be played by Radio Gold to prove that he was not lying to aid a particular politician but Otabil melted away and went silent until recently that he has resurfaced to engage in the same unrepented hypocrisy. When Kofi Koomson said that he could not sleep if Akuffo Addo became the President of Ghana and this was played on the air waves for us to hear, he never run away from his own words even though his words were very direct against Akuffo Addo. Kwesi Pratt also stated in the Weaki Leaks that Akuffo Addo wakes up with wee smoke all around him and when he was questioned about this, he never denied it. Otabil's words were not even directly targeted at Akuffo Addo yet he lied without any qualms about his own credibility and the repercussions on the credibility of the gospel he was supposed to be preaching. Such a man now wants to tell us today about being serious, credible and living by all the lofty ideals one can think of. To me, Kofi Koomson and Kwesi Pratt have more credibility than this Otabil guy.

It is high time this hypocrite came out of the closet to tell Ghanaians that he is a politician and a self-seeking businessman masquerading as a pastor, period!!! Tweaaaa!!! Are credible and God-fearing Ghanaians your co-equals?

personally I would never attend a church where the pastor obtainesd a paper mill doctorate , preaches down to his congregants , collects their meager resources in tithes , writes bogus books which these poor folks buy whole heartedly instead of reading their bibles , and living in opulence whilst his congregants are poor and suffering .

There is nothing wrong with humor but over doing it and over looking more important issues is the problem. Our country needs to be more serious and if we don't understand to what extent we damage our integrity then I really don't know where we going.

We cannot take everything so serious - that will lead to depression and insanity!
