If President Mahama ordered the demolition, then it was a major mistake on his part and abuse of power! An apology to Legon and the nation must follow. If such is his mentality, then it means he does not understand his role. This is about the 4th time he has used patapaa and threatening use of force during simple cases of protest. The President’s executive secretary is Dr. Atuguba , a Harvard educated Lawyer, and we feel he should give the President some good advice.
No such acts of a few people taking the law into their own hands as happened under the PNDC should be allowed in Ghana again! The National Security Adviser has no such power under the constitution unless ordered by the President and if the President ordered this demolition he has to explain it! It is an abuse of power!
The students taking the University to court have shown more maturity than this Colonel and NS Coordinator.

If a national security cannot pull down illegal structure who should do it, what will happen if every community decides to collect toll in the country, can that happen in the so called democracies we are preaching including your California?

He says it was a "nuisance" and wrongly sited. In that case a notice to stop construction could have been served by appropriate Department and the University would have complied. Again, the matter is in court and Parliament has pronounced that the University has the right to erect the toll facility. (2)Did Cabinet approve the demolition? Was the Minister concerned aware of and approved it? Could the action have been taken without approval by his superiors? Can he be power unto himself? I am terrified and so should all Ghanaians if this were so.Demolitions follow failure to comply with notices. (3)The issue of toll gates is not unique to Ghana. It is a method of financing infrastructural development all over the world.Agencies,eg for road construction raise loans for road construction/improvement and recoup it by tolls. As expected, there is always opposition from certain members of the community.I will advise the government, the agencies in charge of roads and the security Gurus'to study the case of the Gauteng Toll Gate (South Africa) and how the matter was and is being handled , especially the processes of dealing with opposition to the toll.To subject a premier institution like The University of GHANA to such humiliation saddens me (and surely all concerned citizens).

Even in the midst of very low respect for the rule of law in the country, I still believe, you simply don't build anything anywhere. I realize the frustration of Legon seeking funds from the gov't and perhaps not getting it and therefore seek private funding. It's all great to seek a loan for development it the development must be approved by the planning body. Is it okay for residents of dansoman to start a tollbooth for a section or the whole of Dansoman???

UG, a public Institution, in dire need of money for developmental project exercises temporary measures to raise funds against it. Among their measures includes action to collect levy from all vehicles that enter the campus. An erection of a toll booth at the entrance of the campus is put in place for that purpose by UG .

A legal complaint to the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of such measure is filed against UG by two students. While awaiting decision from the courts The National Security Coordinator orders and tears down the erected booth.

The argument arising therefrom is:

1. Does UG have the legal Right to enforce such levy on all motorists that enter this public domain ?

2. Does The National Security Coordinator have a licensee right to enter and demolish a structure owned and managed by a chartered public entity ?

The problem with us Ghanaians is that we are just a complaining lot and nobody wants anyone to take action. the university authorities may have it within their remit to charge tolls but they have no business creating a public nuisance on the highway. Everyday road users on the Adenta-Accra highway complain but the likes of Tarzan and Egbert Fabille turn their bloody faces away. Now that somebody has the guts to remove the public nuisance they have found their mouths. Go read the Merchant of Venice. The Legon authorities can have their pound of flesh but not a drop of water. The legon authorities behave like they are sacred cows insisting on their autonomy to do what they like. But they forget that they do not have the authority to create a nuisance on the public highway. That is the reason why motorway booths have been relocated. I don't understand why these NPP guys are always quick to say the president should fire this or that person. Are they presidential advisers?

John Mahama is a clueless man; he doesn't know how to govern Ghana. Everything in his time is going down. The NDC is noted for their "buga-buga" tactics.

The NDC did this to Ghanaians for 19yrs; they used brute force to subdue citizens of the nation, killing people that they themselves have openly declared were innocent. They have razed down Adjei-Kwadjo in Tema rendering many homeless. Gbevlo Lartey is flexing his muscles as if he's untouchable! He's a wicked man; he's full of venom and will kill a soul without blinking an eye. It's not a surprise because he's an embodiment of the NDC evil govt.

As I've already informed, John "Aplanke Prez" Mahama is a one term president; he has no business being in the Jubilee House. He was put there by Kwadjo Afari-Gyan through election fraud, which was "rubber-stamped" by Justice Atuguba at the Supreme Court. Now everything is falling apart. There's untold hardship; interest rates continue to rise, causing prices to rise too. People cannot make ends meet as a result of NDC's mismanagement of our economy.

The Cedi continue to depreciate against major international currencies; there's no remedy in sight. John Mahama can't do anything for Ghana and must be ousted before he destroys everything that's we've achieved for ourselves. There's lawlessness in the country. NDC scouts would storm Lorry parks and Public Toilets, drive out caretakers or overseers, saying because their govt. is in power, when asked to explain their action.

It is a horrible sight the chaos is causing fear in Ghanaians. NDC is putting fear into people and it's time for Ghanaians voiced their concerns. It's absurd!

THAT THE OTHER 3 PLAINTIFFS WERE NOT LICENSED TO OPERATE SMALL
MINING BUT THEY ENCROACHED ON ENCUMBERED THE ADJOINING LAND AND
UNDERTAKING ILLEGAL MINING OR GALAMSEY AND THAT NATIONAL
SECURITY OPERATIVES EVEN IF THEY ENTERED THE ILLEGAL SITES THEN THEIR ACTION WAS
JUSTIFIED.
THAT THE 5TH PLAINTIFF BERNARD ANTWI BOSIAKO UNDER CROSS-EXAMINATIONS DENIED THAT
PLAINTIFFS NEVER OFFERED ANY BRIBES OF GHC 70,000 TO DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF
AMENFI WEST DISTRICT AND COULD NOT ALSO JUSTIFY ANY CAUSE OF GIVEN ANY MONEY,THERETO.
THAT THE 5TH PLAINTIFF AND THE OTHER 3 PLAINTIFFS WERE IN VIOLATIONS OF THE MINERAL COMMISSION ACT.

He supports Gbevlo and therefore supports unconstitutionality. His party thrives on that. That is their history and it has not changed. I feel sad to be a Ghanaian at this point in our history.
