we said last year that there is no way mahama and his team could do anything for the country except rob us blind . today we repeat the same , he has no policies except propaganda bullshit and lies. we see somehow that muslims all over the continent of africa are trying to seize power or cause economic destruction ( see CAR and Angola). an uprising of the people is what will cleanse this foolishness . we have everything we need to develop but the true enemy of progress is our own govt saturated with corruption, of non action no good decision just greed. Patience is not a virtue but cowardice if one is faced by such injustices , it is up to our generation to clean up this mess in war so we dont burden future generations with our shit. Unfortunately i am always right , we have a govt that has introduced a system of govt which encourages people not to work rather they all perch on strategic posts or positions like vultures stealing , being bribed and facilitation corruption . our minister of foreign affairs Hannah tetteh ( who by the way isn't a fanti but somehow is an mp for a fanti area) will rather sell the takoradi harbor than do her job of sending condolences to the family of Shirley temple. you step out of your house today and try and do anything its always some non Akan trying to fleece you or shake you down for money and that's the gospel truth . if you are treated fair very likely it was an Akan you dealt with . this is the sorry state of affairs the curse pepeni has brought unto us . the country can never develop as long as such selfish characters are in charge so we wait for the revolution and war instead . long live the republic of Akan

Ghana is an oil producing nation and her currency should not fall that fast. With that said, I think there are too many fake currency floating in the system. Look, I am not targeting no one but our security agencies should keep tracking of Nigerians in Ghana. They are well known for indulging in such shenanigans just to destroy an economy that is poised to be viable. Why is their economy not picking up any steam? It is because of fake Nira in the system. I hate Nigerians to the core because trust me, anywhere they go, they do not hesitate to ply their illegal trade if authorities failed to put a tracking on them. How many Nigerians are in Ghana and what exactly are they doing? Our economy cannot absorb such huge influx of foreigners and that where the problems start. Some will come out with any means possible to survive as if Ghana begged them to come and give her more headache.

Mahama should keep track of Nigerians because I smell their body odor concerning the fallen cedi.

Improving our economy will require sound strategic thinking (NOT hot air from too much empty talk), efficient management and execution, and the absence of VERY expensive corruption.
I am confident there are many Ghanaians who are equal to the required task - my conclusion is that we need to get the right persons to do the job. Many Ghanaians who are NOT politicians can help - we should mobilize and empower them and get out of their way!!

Last week, it was the HIGH RISE buildings going up in Ghana that have caused the Ghana cedi to fall.

Two days ago, it was DWARFS that have stolen Ghana's foreign exchange reserve causing the Cedi to fall.

Today, there's the "assurance" that after the DRY SEASON, inflation will go down, in other words the value of the Cedi wiil go up.

Now, who're the fools? The people who gave this jokers power over us or the jokers in power?

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Editorial wants to sympathize with the leadership of Ghana but cannot help but ask if they were sleeping on the job and not knowing that Ghana was all the time relying on only raw materials such as cocoa, gold and oil. The estimated oil net to Ghana was not even more than $1.2 Billion and yet Ghana went on a spending spree where judgment debts of more than half a billion dollars were perhaps paid under questionable circumstances some of whose investigations have taken years. In addition Ghana has borrowed an estimated $10-15 billion from China without showing the projects for which these loans were taken, whiles water and electricity are still being rationed in even the most affluent neighborhoods in the capital.
One must also add that it is hard for any nation to be taken serious when cocaine turns into baking soda whiles under the custody of the police and the latter acts only when the President issues orders to do so and fails to provide adequate protection for local and foreign businesses. Ghana’s centralized economy should also have been by now decentralized after 30 years of electoral dictatorship and centralized economic planning. Economic competition naturally comes after local political decentralization with elections, and when seen among towns, districts and regions they are known to stimulate employment especially attracting their local natives who studied overseas to rural areas and help boost local economies. Ghana must choose a really free enterprise competitive economy or stick to the centralized planning and dictatorship some of us see. President John Mahama cannot have his cake and eat it too

GHANA'S CEDI DEPRECIATION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE INTERACTION OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND OF THE US DOLLAR, AND BY EXTENSION THE EXCHANGE RATES OF OTHER CONVERTIBLE CURRENCIES.

TERKPER SHOULD LEARN FROM THE MANY COUNTERPRODUCTIVE "QUANTITATIVE EASING" MEASURES ADOPTED BY THE US FEDERAL RESERVE AND TREASURY IN RECENT TIMES.

DID THEY WORK? NOPE.

THAT'S WHY THE US HAD TO CHANGE THE FEDERAL RESERVE CHAIRMAN RECENTLY.

GHANA'S CEDI DEPRECIATION/INSTABILTY HAS TO DO WITH UNSUSTAINABLY HIGH PUBLIC SPENDING ON REDUNDANT POLITICAL APPOINTEES LIKE MPs, PRESIDENTIAL STAFFERS, AND UNJUSTIFIABLE HIKES IN TAXES, IMPORT DUTUIES, FUEL PRICES AND GHANA'S UNBRIDLED DEPENDENCE ON LOANS OF EVERY DESCRIPTION.
