  These mining firms have nowhere to go so our leaders must face up to their obligations. The much talk about issues such as attracting capital, layoffs, windfall tax etc by Aubynn & co is a smart ploy to pay less tax. Nowhere is tax avoidance and "evasion" more of a problem than in Ghana. Tax increases in the mining industry is the order of the day everywhere in the world.

  The law must be changed to force mining companies to open their books for inspection over the past 20 years at least.
  
  They must be asked to prepare their accounts in standardised format, to facilitate auditing and tax payment.
