More exports is not the only way to stabilize the cedi. Another important way to stabilize the cedi is to reduce the profits of foreign businesses operating within the country like the cell phone companies and the foreign banks. If their profits are reduced then the demand for foreign currencies would reduce. Foreign businesses like banks have their shareholders outside Ghana. Therefore whatever profit they make would have to be transferred to them. In other to do this they buy and transfer large volumes of foreign currency to them. This is another important way to stabilize the cedi.

Mr Andani is an astute banker who has assiduously worked to establish Stanbic as a leading bank in the country. Nonetheless he should be careful not to ruin his reputation by trying to defend the NDC he supports. If the dollar keeps depreciating after the first quarter, what does he expect some of to assess him. Because in the first place nobody heard Mr Andani predict that the cedi is going to depreciate in this quarter and by this current margin so as for us to believe what he is saying now. I however would urge to make more loans available to farmers as his bank intends to do. I will advise Mr Andani to institute pragmatic supervisory measures to ensure that people don't take the loans and divert them into other activities .

How do Ghanaians diversify and produce more when the cost of production is outrageous? Power, water and interest rate are very high. Taxes are high too. Too many stupid holidays for employees. Unecessary land acquisition problems. Corruption everywhere but you're taliking about expansion and diversification of export products? Any smart person will buy T-Bill instead of starting up a business in Ghana. If I can but T-Bill and earn 25% with a minimun risk why bother to set up a production company in this corrupt business atmostphere?
People like you in a position to advice the government and Ghanaian as a whole have become sycophants and liars. Who in his his right mind will pump money into this corrupt business environment?

But if you think investing into a business to provide a job for your neighbour may earn you more than 25% better for you. Rich people like Bill Gates started off with $40,000 investment capital. Today he is the richest man on earth..
