USA with about 350 million is managed by only 12 Ministries and betterly ran.
We even have more than 650 Presidential staff like a country with 25 million people. There shouldn't be more than 150 People working at the Presidency.

I have some respect for Abu Sakara but on this issue I think he lost his economic thinking brain along the way.
First, every country or economy thrives on borrowing. The main problem facing our economy is not the borrowing but how the loan is used to recover the initial capital amount plus the interest on it.It is not prudent to run an economy on a budget surplus so therefore borrowing is justified in this sense.
As we borrow, some politicians in the past found a way to sell for instance our drill ship and squandered the money a mysterious way yet to be explained.
As we borrow, it should also occur to Ghanaians that corruption should be uprooted and this is exactly what JDM is doing. All those corrupt officials who got involved to nearly collapse GNPC as selling a whole drill ship without understanding the legalities attached should not have been given the authority to go ahead as we have found they were not educated to understand the law.
We need to grill Mr Kuffuor amd that KT Hammond and co.

When contractors are paid, they spend the money in Ghana, when you pay people in advance they ship the money out and render no service then you come back to ask the Attorney general to waste tax payers money to chase them.Agambire and Agyekum are typical examples. Zoomlion never finished collecting waste in Ghana but he is off to Liberia with the Ghanaian taxpayers money. Agambire is now in Dubal bringing investors into the oil industry. The devil is in the details, as the saying goes. Is Dr Forster confusing the over-bloated NDC administration with the state sector as a whole? Is he advocating immediate terminations in the state sector in a country without any safety net such as unemployment insurance, food stamps, and job search assistance? We’ve been there before and never recovered!
The areas to be trimmed outright are the NDC administration – starting with the Presidency and the Cabinet - and any other affiliated positions that were created by the current government. The Mahama administration must abolish the post of Deputy Minister. Principal Secretaries at the various Ministries should substitute when Ministers are unavailable. These Secretaries are the ones who do the actual work of the Ministers anyway! Then the government must heed the public outcry over the unnecessary appointments at the Presidency. There should be only one Minister without portfolio at the Presidency, if at all. Likewise, just one Communications Director or Spokesperson. No need for a Nunoo-Mensah at 80 years old and a so-called "Human Security Coordinator" (whatever that means!) when we have a National Security Coordinator. All newly-created party patronage positions must be abolished. With regard to the Civil Service, the government must use attrition to reduce the workforce – no replacement hiring once the current employee retires or resigns. But no IMF/WB-style immediate terminations.
We are in our current position largely because of the implementation of the toxic prescriptions of the IMF/WB. We took their advice and destroyed all the industrial enterprises Nkrumah bequeathed us. This is the number one cause of unemployment and reduced productivity which fuels our deficit. We import toothpicks and used bras and underwear when we were on our way to much import substitution through production during the Nkrumah era 50 years ago! The only jobs we create now are patronage jobs – “jobs for the boys”: Boards, Authorities, Agencies and what have you, packed with party cronies, relatives, girlfriends etc.
Ghana must cut out the corruption, reduce the bloated government administration, streamline the Civil Service, use national earnings for real job creation (jobs that produce something), and, above all, stay away from the IMF and World Bank!

They have failed to deliver after almost 6 years. Their obsession is not fixing the economy and the better ghana agenda. Their obsession is propaganda against the opposition NPP, blaming them for their incompetence which has resulted in the farcical woyome, waterville, isofoton, cp partners, subah, gyeeda, akonfem, fake tree planting projects, and now merchant bank which have all been found to be tools used to plan loot and share ghana's meagre resources for development.
Anyone constructively criticising the government, according to their propaganda is a nation wrecker and the ones who are siphoning the country's money are getting away with murder.

People might find it hard to understand why I believe JEALOUSY as the genesis of most of our problems.
It is because of jealousy why the government has slapped high tariffs on cars and everything that arrives at the ports. When they tax so high under the guise that they are taxing the rich, that is jealousy. Ha ha ha, the rich merely passes on ALL the punitive taxes to the poor. And the government then slaps higher taxes on the "rich" so as to get the enough money to help the poor, and then the rich passes the tax on. So we have this vicious cycle of galloping taxes and galloping poverty.
Folks, this thing happened in the US before, so they STRONGLY resist taxes of all kinds.
Why is it jealousy? Well, listen to the commentators, the socialist ones like Kwesi Pratt always admonishing governments to widen the tax net and other coded words for "we need more tax revenue". What is the RATIONAL, RATIONALE, REASON, PRINCIPLE, SENSE, WISDOM etc.etc etc in taxing big cars like V8s soooo much? Oh, people will say " it is the car of the rich, and it gobbles so much of our petrol so lets tax it to punish those aburokyire people". But for what rhyme or reason do you tax it to such excess? If the government really believe they are bad for the economy, then the government should cease buying them for the ministries and ministers! But if they impose such unreasonably punitive taxes on the so-called poor, it is the very poor who suffer and will continue to suffer.

I have heard from the grapevine and if Sakara wanted Ministerial position he could have had it but he chose to support in voluntary advisory capacity when needed. Also you are one of the people who don't understand the real poibt of this article. What sakara is saying is that pointing fingers and blaming each other will not solve the problem unless we undertake fundamental solutions together in a national development plan across administrations. Mahama has inherited a long standing problem that many people helped to create but he has to fix it. He can't do it alone so all of us should get together and agree a workable long term solution that changes the architecture of the economy. One government alone can not do that because the terms are too short. SO let us start thinking about solutions for Ghana that goes beyond our political parties. What is wrong with that. If you are in government it works to your advantage so take the opportunity and stop, the party turf fighting business. Important issues are at stake here than mere jobs.
may be john will listen to you, john mahama is a disgrace to we the northners, i dont we deserve to rule the nation again
John should simply move away from the single spine thing. There are many squared pegs in round holes. We are just borrowing too much. Will John listen
Foster , don't foist your wishful thinking on Mahama. He is doing what I voted for.Come next election, I will forget my problems and give him 4more years.I am the typical Ghanaian.

Obama borrowed from the state treasury. Ghana is borrowing foolishly to pay party executives, MPs and appointees. Obama's borrowing revived the economy. What about Ghana?
Ghana has no state money to borrow from. So going about borrowing to pay for workers and MPs will work. We need a working solution to take our country back. I am so disappointed in what is going on.
