I have always known you to be mild, and though I don't know where you are, I always think I might have to look you up anytime you're at home and I happen to be around. If you care to speak to people in Ghana, you come to the understanding the weird world on Ghanaweb and personal views presented here are completely different from practical sentiments on the ground.

Hey Frank don't take others too serious. You see the state of the affairs country and how poorly we have battled our flanks till date? It perfectly reflects who we are, the way we think and the way things may be bound to be in the future.
In other words, since we aren't serious, nothing is going to change, or the situation will worsen.

The problem is not Mahama, it is with the way we enforce laws in Ghana. In Senegal, politicians are panicking because all of a sudden things have begun to change as people are thrown in jail for crimes against the state including corruption.
The son of the former president Wade, who himself held three ministerial portfolios, is in jail since 9 months now pending investigations for abuse of position and corruption. So are several others. Recently, a Soviet fishing boat caught fishing in Senegalese waters was seized and made to pay fines despite Putin's threats. We understood it has always happened in the past. Senegal has also quickly crafted bills that seek to correct other public behavior. So it takes a different President committed to his country to define a different route that may ultimately be that of success. That is the way things ought to be for a lawful state.
IN Ghana, until we begin to see corruption through a different prism or scope, we WILL continue to pay for individual and collective malversations against the state.

Recently President Mahama came out to say he can't arrest anyone. We know he is not the judiciary, but there is the fact that he could weigh in to correct much of the deplorable situation created by impunity.

How come we know the country is failing because of corruption yet no one gets jailed in exception of chicken and tinapa thieves?

Thank you for sharing your wisdom with me. I really do not want to wade into unnecessary political fights. We may agree to disagree but if you get some learned men who have become attack dogs calling you names like A POODLE, HYPOCRITE among others because you speak against Papa Jerry and NDC, that is unfortunate. I never insult our presidents and I get angry when tribalists try to promote tribalism in Ghana. Are we not one Ghana? Just read about what is going on in CAR and Southern Sudan. Is that what Ghanaians want? That is how Rwandan civil war started.
Vuvu, it is the government in power that must be straightened because the decisions they take in the long run affects the country. There is not much need to speak against the opposition unless they make useless criticisms that will hurt the country. In any democracy, the purpose of the opposition is just to oppose the government on many issues.
In our discussion on this forum, we just have to be civil. I know Kuffour was no angel. He did his fair share of the corruption. So is J.J and currently Mahama. I criticize and sometimes make fun of these personalities. I was among those who spoke against Addo's all die be die statement and have oftentime mentioned on this forum that the youth should not blindly follow politicians who shall only use and dump them. Rather they should have something good to do and better their lives because if they get hurt in useless political fights, the party and politicians shall forget about them.
Vuvu, yes, I shall put my gun down but let us be objective. If we do not speak against ills perpetuated by our politicians, one day some disgruntled people may take arms against the government. When this happens, the politicians will long be gone and the poor and weak would be made to suffer. If the name callings and sarcastic comments against me because I speak against Papa Jerry when he MISSPEAKS and does not unnecessarily attack past and sitting presidents on air, I have no qualms with anybody. It is not done that anywhere that past presidents call each other names on air. Thank you for your concern.

I agree, JJR should not be the one criticizing anyone of corruption. During his reign, he asked the Queen of England to assist his government deal with corruption when he knew the Queen had no power or means to do that. That was clearly admitting to corruption. Personally, I see myself heaping a lot of blames on JJR for not being iron-fisted against corruption when he had the best chance possible.

I am myself disappointed and absolutely frustrated with JJR's insults on Kufuor, undermining his principles and statesmanship. In the limelight, a person of his calibre shouldn't say the kind of things he says against Kufuor even if they're enemies. I don't know if he has advisers but that's beyond me. I used to admire him but his recent sorties are befuddling and mind-boggling. I must confess. He needs some wisdom.

JJR made a lot of mistakes as a president when he underestimated his Ministers of state most of whom he later fell apart with.
His problems began the day we started yelling loud for democracy. He conceded when he knew very well the irresponsible,utterly uncultivated and undisciplined beings that we are in Ghana need no democracy and that he shouldn't have heeded the calls. Frank, jokes apart, we need someone with a very big whip behind every day in Ghana without which we will NEVER change.

Right now, I am just against people who think and behave as if the corruption started yesterday when it has been the hallmark not only of the successive governments but WE individual citizens too.

We have to talk against the government, both fight and help it to fight corruption.

I don't know you, and we don't always have the same views but I feel you have good nerves, so continue being mild and forget others who don't share your views.

Wayo is very wrong thinking matching and violent demonstration is the solution. Ghanaians are better and know demonstrations is not good for anybody or the country.
In this advance world a pen and paper will do the job for all ghanaians. As we all know the address of the president we should point to him in writing about our feeling in the way he and his govt is messing our country.
The govt is not corrupted, it is those he John Mahama foolishly appointed to work for his govt. Any govt who thinks only about the political party who he leads will always fail.
Some or all the MPs has to pay back monies they borrowed from friends and families back, these money was used to campaign for them to be MPs.
How can any MP pay back these money from their salaries, they have to steal and the stealing is what people call corruption.
An elected MP job is only in paliament, those who want ministrial jobs should not be representing any group of people. How can an MP decide in paliament and decide in a ministry.
MPs should ONLY be in paliament for the people who elected them. How can anybody buy or build a house in one year as an MP.

Until all of us come together and help this government, we shall all fall into the ditch. Where is the guarantee that if president Mahama is changed today, things would not be the same, if we continue with this pull me down attitude by certain few greedy people who think this country is for them. Well spoken. Unfortunately, there is a statement that UNEASY LIES THE HEAD THAT WEARS THE CROWN. We are all pretty aware of the many angles that corruption comes from, where there are inefficiency, nepotism and all the other vices in society come from. But since Mahama is the President, we shall continue to hold him accountable for anything that goes wrong. Mahama has been in government for a very long time and can do better than this. He needs to fire appointees and executives who are not functioning. In developed democracies, Big Men are fired or made to explain the action of their subordinates. Mahama needs to stop putting squared pegs in round holes. He needs to be hard and hold sector ministers and their deputies responsible for irregularities in their departments.
