What did the Kufuor's administration do to address these challenges of yours during their eight year occupation at the helm of affairs? Rawlings did very little you may claim. But, Didn't Kufuor get his share of chance at the presidency and did equally nothing to change the very situation you're busily highlighting here?

kwaa, you should be preaching to those whose behaviors are contrary to what you mentioned. What you stated is a secret to long life, etc. How many Ghanaians have lost decent chances in life due to dishonesty? I know a lot. A white man will come to Ghana because of the peaceful atmosphere and meets a Ghanaian, pours out his business plans and bingo, the has negative plans to dupe him penniless, use him as a stepping stone to US or Europe and never return, connive with armed robbers to rob him blind, and a host evil thoughts.
"The white man came to steal our gold!" is what they use to defend themselves when they are caught. But he also brings him/herself for business opportunities which can trigger down to family and friends. Kwaa, if you exhibit all the above, then God richly bless you.

If the minister is serious what he could have called for is a better or stringent regulation to force the airlines to adhere to the industry standard maintenance practice. There is no point in praying to God to avert such accidents when we fail to do our part by ensuring that these aircraft are maintained properly. As usual in Ghana, we shall sit on our asses until one day hundreds of people are killed. We will then put on our funeral clothes to organize a massive funeral for the victims. Let us put on our funeral clothes now to demand that these aircrafts are maintained properly, before they kill us. It could have been the minister, you or me in the plane that day. Accidents don't happen. Human beings cause it.

A photographer for a national magazine was assigned to get photos of a great forest fire. Smoke at the scene was too thick to get any good shots, so he frantically called his home office to hire a plane.
"It will be waiting for you at the airport!" he was assured by his editor. As soon as he got to the small, rural airport, sure enough, a plane was warming up near the runway. He jumped in with his equipment and yelled, "Let's go! Let's go!" The pilot swung the plane into the wind and soon they were in the air.
"Fly over the north side of the fire," said the photographer, "and make three or four low level passes."
"Why?" asked the pilot.
"Because I'm going to take pictures! I'm a photographer, and photographers take pictures!" said the photographer with great exasperation.
After a long pause the pilot said, "You mean you're not the instructor?"

No, that is not an excuse. Depending on the size of a plane which in this case does not apply since the plane was flying to Kumasi, if the Journalist reported this incident correctly, there is no excuse the plane should have gone back to Accra risking the life of Passengers and flight crew by being in the air longer since he was near Kumasi.
Anytime a plane develops problem in the air, it should land at the nearest Airport if the size of the plane will allow it to do so.
Unless the weather conditions in Kumasi was not conducive to landing the plane.
