The only free part of the education the northerners get is boarding in High School not fees or other associated dues in educating young people.

Southerners all talk about how the north get free education all the time but what they don't know is the fact that the 'free' in education only refer to boarding and if you're a day, primary or junior secondary or university student, you get no help whatsoever. I do believe in FREE EDUCATION for all to the SHS level for ALL GHANAIANS regardless of their financial status. The FREE BOARDING to the Northern sector was a condition to the British granting independence to Ghana because of the 394-year lead the colonial governments provided to the south in education over their northern brethren. Nkrumah promised the British he'll provided education and educational help to the north, who the British ignored for development while using their labor. They wanted to stay in power for some years to establish educational institutions in the north before handing over power to Nkrumah and the people of Gold Coast. They saw the unfair treatment meted out to the northerners

PS: There was never any conflict/war for any 'Akufem' but a conflict resulting from a long standing chieftaincy dispute of what paramount chief should rule over what geographic areas. I know because I was there when it started and ended as an innocent bystander who nearly lost his life because a schoolmate dislike how we interacted in school. The idiotic media and the government created the NOW famous 'Akufem war' term to sell papers and play sides. Get educated before you made statements as FACTS

Parents in the seven other regions in Ghana pay for their children feeding in boarding houses that is why schools in the Southern sector were opened because they do not rely on freebies to feed their children.

This facility of free feeding should be extended to all the regions in Ghana or it should be scrapped, it is discriminatory. We have poor people in the South like you have in the North.

Is it fair for people like Ibrahim Mahama, Banda and Agambire of RLG to have their children educated free if they chose to do so when a yoko gari seller or dog chain seller in the South has to pay for their children boarding fees? Is it fair, Pope?

The colonial government provided 394 years of free education to the South? Not in my neck of the woods where Prempeh college has not been in existence for even hundred years.

How long more do the Northerners want to live on this freebie? It's time you guys take responsibility for actions. Your culture measure the worth of a man by how many wives and children he has and that is why even the educated elites in the North have many wives with tens of children in one family.

If anybody need to get educated on this issue, it is you who needs it and not me. You guys have been feeding fat on poor Southerners for almost 60 years and continue to breed like rabbits compounding the destitution in the North and you are not willing to change your ways to meet the modern realities of life.

The free boarding facility being enjoyed by the Northerners should rather be changed to make it available for all the poor families in Ghana instead of the regional based as it is now. It does not make sense for the President of Ghana to have his children educated free if he chose to do so whilst his Southern Driver pays for his children school fees.

I know this because I'm a northerner who got left behind one time because of lack of school fees. I also happens to be responisble for the school fees of my younger brothers in Ghana every semester. I take my mortgage money and pay my siblings school fees and fight with my wife after. What free school fees are you talking about? Is sad how so many southerners make statements about the north when they have never been there.

We even hear the president of the country supposed to serve us all with fairness makes remarks like i wouldn't fail the Northners,neglect the northners.I will do everything for the North.
Should such reckless remarks be made by Nana Akufo Addo or any Akan member of the NPP,the reaction from the Akan haters can't be measured.
I want to make it clear that the Akans and especilly Ashantis have nothing against anybody succeeding so other tribes notably Ewes,Northers and Gas must desist from calling any successful Akan(Ashanti)a thief,criminal,corrupt and so on and so forth.
Nobody must expect to be treated with special favors in a country where most of us are sacrificing in order for us to survive.
